I dont think Mayweather will ever happen. Wouldn’t be competetive. Floyd’s too defensive. Wouldn’t allow Manny to hit him. He’s throw a punch here and there then duck and run. This wouldnt make for a fan friendly fight and would “bomb” ! If you know both styles you can pretty much judge for yourself how it would go.

Guard,
Manny should fight Bradley. He has to win that fight which will set himself up for a mayweather fight. I still feel that pacman vs mayweather would be the megafight. Marquez is 1-2-1 vs the pacman and I honestly believe that pacman had nothing to prove but he took the fight. I still feel that mayweather will try to duck him but maybe now it may become a reality. I am hoping that the fight will happen.

Don’t be ridiculous you guys are the ones that are going to hide because your fighter got put to sleep and Marquez will do it again.

For me the best is Pacquiao vs Malignaggi. We all know it’s a hi-way robbery win by Bradley vs Pacquiao, and it’s not even a close fight! Why a rematch? Arum wanted a 5th Pacquiao vs Marquez, and as a tune up fight for pacquiao why not Malignaggi, since he’s WW Champ. Here,we’ll see if pacquiao has still the touch and urge since this is a Title Fight.(Pacquiao will be coming from a heavy campaign period and election for him together with his wife and brother as he is building a political dynasty in his country). If Pacquiao wins vs Paulie, it’ll be more interesting and motivating PACQUIAO VS MARQUEZ 5 since it’ll be a Title Fight and Marquez will be gunning for a 5th Div. World Title.

Hecdog, at this point we have no clue if Pacquiao can even beat Marquez let alone bigger fighters who are on TOP of their game like Martinez, Ward and Mayweather.. He would have almost NO shot of hurting Martinez nor Ward… Pac Mans power at 147 has fallen off, reality is that since he stopped Cotto and Oscar he has NEVER stopped another fighter at this weight… I am a HUGE Pac Man fan but you sound fanatical droning on about him besting fighters of this size and caliber when his biggest problem is JMM who is really best suited 140 and below….Besides Pac is NOT an idiot he will never face Martinez or Ward, he might face FMJ assuming he can best Marquez in a big money fight he will be boxed senseless in…

How about THIS option? Get rid of Bob Arum, hire a new promoter (hell, is Don King too busy??!!) and FINALLY get the fight with Mayweather going! Seems to me that Arum was/is still the main obstacle in why that fight hasn’t taken place..regardless of the loss to Marquez, it’s still a fight that needs to go on.

Posted January 14, 2013 8:50 pm

TARK

Pacquiao is not going to fight Martinez or Canelo, and it wouldn’t be a good move for him because he’d be overpowered at 154 where he only fought Cheato… He is NOT a Super Welterweight.. I would advise Pacquiao to fight Malignaggi as a tuneup in April of this year.. Maybe fight Paulie in Singapore where it would be a massive attraction.. Pac needs this kind of easy tune-up against a quick, fast, skilled boxer who even Ricky Hatton beat.. He should beat Paulie impressively. Then I would look for a fifth fight with Marquez in September and try to get a points win like it’s a matter of life or death … Then I would do the Floyd fight and retire… THAT’S IT!!!

You’ve had a great career but don’t get chicken fat on it.

Hecdog is simply a silly poster looking for attention at this point.. NO ONE is going to try and sell Pacquiao against May, Martinez or Ward payday aside they would be fools to fight him coming off that KO loss they would receive very little credit assuming they prevail… Pacquiao has a road to redemption that leads thru Marquez, he can fight a tuneup if need be but the aforementioned fighters would not represent prudent management and Pac would be taking losses to ALL… Ward would squash him like a GRAPE as would Martinez who is too big

Inept phony ESB writers, clueless fans and haters are going to charge Pac Man with a legit 2 fight losing streak which is pure nonsense… The Bradley bout produced a FARCICAL decision which arguably left Bradley in a WORSE position than he was prior to that gift… Reality is that Pacquiao got BADLY knocked out by his principal rival and now he is going to have to prove he is STILL a force at the top of the sport… Great thing is that Pacquiao hasa an opportunity to inject some drama into his career should he pull off a BIG win against Marquez and reposition himself…Great fighters can rebound from bad losses and something tells me that Pac Man might be the guy to do it, the way he has taken this colossal setback is indicative of a mentally strong man…

Folks,PEDman has been showing signs of DECLINE since Mosley;to believe otherwise is naive on the extreme.Fights #3 & 4 vs Marquez were just more evidence to that effect;to keep fighting from this point on is a risky proposition to put it lightly, and then all this talk about possible early Parkinsons symptoms DOES NOT help one bit.

Opinion, Marquez bottom line got lucky pac’s head was someplace else lost focus and made a mistake. Why did bradley get the decision against pac, bottom line because in fact pac didn’t want to fight mayweather, i think the date was may 5th pac refused that’s common knowledge. The boxing kingpins know champions should fight all comers pac didn’t do it, so they set up the fight agaisn’t bradley for bradley to win by decision they told him jus’t don’t get knocked out. Mayweather is a different class of fighter the ultimate neutralizer when it comes to fighting a brawler, an expert. As for pac can he get his confidence back after being put to sleep, probably in the top 3 ko’s in history if not the top. Rocko!

Well Roberto Duran was brutally knocked out at junior-middleweight by Tommy Hearns, and Duran beat Iran Barkley approximately 5 years later, for the WBC middleweight title. Keep that in mind.

…and PEDman’s jaw has a “salvage tittle” on it already, keep that in mind!!

Posted January 13, 2013 8:28 pm

Johnathan Culver – A.K.A. Uglyosaurus

I want to clarify something about the article – I forgot to say, the reason Paulie Malignaggi would be a good opponent for Pacquiao is becuase he holds the WBA welterweight title, so this would be a relatively low-risk way to get a world title back. World titles are ‘bargaining chips’, so being a world titlist again would probably give Pacquiao a reason to ask for a bigger percentage of the purse split than he would get without a world title. I hate it when world champions get paid far less money than the challengers they are fighting because the challenger has a big name, like Austin Trout getting paid approximately a quarter of what Miguel Cotto was paid for their fight. I understand that Cotto is the fighter that the fans are tuning in to watch or buying tickets to watch, but the purses split should be more fair, like a 50/50 split or even a 55/45 split of the purse in Cotto’s favor would’ve been more fair than Cotto getting paid roughly 4 times as much as Trout, even though I like Cotto and I have a lot of respect for him. I’m applying the example of Trout and Cotto to a rematch between Timothy Bradley and Manny Pacquiao – Bradley should get a 50/50 split of the purse or not take the fight, and the same goes for Paulie Malignaggi, because he is the world titlist and Pacquiao would be the challenger. Realistically, Paulie Malignaggi could only expect to get a close-to-equal purse split with a superstar like Pacquiao if the fight happens in Brooklyn, at the Barclays Center, where he is from and has fans. Paulie is negotiating to fight Shane Mosley in April. I’m sure that Malignaggi would rather fight Pacquiao for bigger money. I don’t think fighters should pick the weakest of the world champions in their weight class to fight, but there is an exception to that if the fighter was brutally knocked out in his last fight, if only for concern about the fighter’s health. This is just speculation, but maybe Pacquiao doubts that his boxing license will be reinstated as soon as April by the Nevada State Athletic Commission after that brutal knockout, so that’s why he wants to fight overseas. Maybe the alternative to that would be to try get a fight in Brooklyn, New York against Paulie Malignaggi. I know I misspelled Pacquiao’s last name once in my article but I hope you fellow boxing fans you give me a one-time pass on that mistake because this was my first article and I was having internet connections issues. I like all the commentary – keep it up and thank you for posting cooments.

Posted January 13, 2013 5:39 pm

forreal

…i don’t think so,in fact the opposite may be true;whoever the opponent is might very well take this opportunity as a stepping stone for bigger & better things. If his next opponent do his homework and study EVERY PEDman/Marquez fight,he will realize that PEDman is easy accessible via counter straight rights.PEDman’s defense is not exactly Fort Knox;now, that been said, you just can’t go and take the offensive to PEDman, but rather find the oppenings with counter right hands as Marquez has done so successfully against him.Not an easy thing to do,but not impossible either;the key against PEDman is TIMING and counter-punching…oh!,and one more thing, the armor is already cracked,so it will be a wait and see how PEDman take heavy head blows and how well can he absorb them.

I don’t hear him asking for a 5th fight proposal? Did you guys hear any? Yup none!
Manny doesn’t want it, Manny will fight someone else less of a technical fighter.

Manny will have to choose his comeback opponent wisely as we wont know what he will have left after such a brutal KO, bradley cud be good as he hasn’t big punching power but i think Pac should play it even safer, perhaps a homecoming fight in the Phillipines where he will fill a stadium against mid-tier opposition to see what he has left / build confidence, then go for the rematches with Bradley & JMM & retire after those!

Hecdog – you are one sad individual who is in the biggest form of denial I have ever seen. We have all seen greatest, but not in the form of Manny Pacroid, we have seen it in the form of “Dinamita” Juan Manuel Marquez. It kills you to live with the fact that Marquez put your boy to sleep doesnt it?? Ha ha. LTake a look at Manny’s head buddy, He and special blend Ariza are falling apart because they stopped taking their special mix. Thats why now he wants to fight Maywether and take the tests and not before. They had to give it time for it to not show up in the system. Anyways, People dont talk about Marquez because as much about Pacquiao because he does not announce flight numbers on twitter or sing at concerts. Marquez is humble and just goes to work. Pacquiao wants to rule the world and as result is always being talked about. Pacquiao is this and that, but Marquez… is a fighter .. a real fighter. go sing kareeokee with your filipino movie star.

Just because paqiao lost it doesn’t mean he is done !!!
Wtf is wrong with the boxing fans today ???
Paqiao looked extreamly well against Marquez , he was dominating maruez like he never did in his previous fights against him , Marquez looked slow and after the 4 round he was stationary ANd was losing badley , so paqiao got cought with a perfect punch and lost that’s all ,it happens , imagine if mayweather was dropped in the second round against Mosley and lost the fight how would people react ??? They would probably say “he is not the same anymore” or”he was never good and finally is exposed”!!! You don’t judge a fighter like that
You have to look in a lot of things like, his speed power versatility etc …and paqiao looked great last fight much better than the 3rd fight against Marquez but he got cought and that’s it and he will come back for sure!

“If Pacquiao fights Bradley recklessly in a rematch, the way he fought Marquez in his last fight . . .” this comment is a testament to Manny’s* boxing skills: he’s got none. what the writer describes as “reckless” was actually Pacquiaos* self-described version of “boxing”, which enabled Marquez to assume the role of powerpuncher and KTFO of Pacquiao*. after 10 years under Roach’s tutelage, Pacquiao* still doesn’t possess a consistent jab, right-hook (i.e., “Manila Ice”), or body-attack. if Canelo actually does confirm a bout v. Mayweather, Manny’s* best bet is to target Guerrero and test his claim to welter prominence. otherwise, Pacquiao* should rest, recover, and allow the dust to settle before confirming a bout in September. during which i hope that Marquez targets Bradley for the double-exclamation point to his supremacy over Manny* and retirement. there is absolutely nothing Marquez can possibly do to improve on his recent “W” over Manny. a 5th match would be nothing but a generous courtesy to Manny* which he made Marquez compete, sacrifice, and practically beg for. IMO, Rios and Guerrero will still be around to close the book on Pacquiao’s* career.
