Happy Boy. Rees beat Souleymane Mbaye who I rank higher and more accomplished than anyone that Broners beaten. Although I will admit most could have beaten Mbaye that night. Still a wins a win. Its a bit like when Drake Thadzi beat James Toney or Everett Martin beating Tim Witherspoon. Rees should be super feather but thats for him to decide. I would also say Jason Cook was a good scalp despite it being only 3 rounds in prizefighter tourney.Cook got by Zoff who took Levander Johnson all the way in a title fight. The Cook who fought Zoff gets my nood at beating Escobedo. Rees sole loss to Kotelnik was a gutsy performance and I thought Kotelnik got robbed against Devon Alexander. Just my opinion.

Wtf.What a disrespectful article from a most mediocre writer. Rees has actually beaten better men than Broner. I dont think Rees will win but he has better opposition on the record.

Since when has Rees been “robotic,” he’s got great head movement and will probably use a bob and weave style against Broner.Although i think Broner will win this easy,Gavin Rees should not be disrespected like this he’s a good pro and a proud warrior!

Garcia is friends with Broner, and they share the same manager…Al Haymon. I do not see them fighting one another. The other 2 can get it… Time will tell.

Agree 100% this is the 2nd article I have read recently where this author has totally disrespected Gavin Rees, I also doubt he has ever seen Rees fight as he describes him as “too weak, too straight up, too robotic”, not words that anyone who knows boxing would use to describe him!

“Broner is headed to the bank for a easy one this time. This will look like We are watching Broner on a heavy bag open workout session.” – Cosign. Broner needs to fight Gamboa or GTFO.

Broner is like Floyd, not the best fighter but the best nut shells. they wait for the real dogs of the game to get old or start to decline and then they start running their mouths about them. i still give more props to Maywether than broner cause he fought Corrales in his prime. i will never respect broner until he shuts up and fights the real champions that await his annoying ass at 140. look how physically bigger broner looked than skinny DeMarco at 135, if he really thinks he’s the best then why not just drink a quart of kool aid to gain the extra 5 pounds n fight the real hard hitters at 140.

he is definitely overrated! yea he copies the Pretty Boy Defense which works real good if your fast which he is but he hasnt faced the quality of oppenents Floyd has. like you said “he struggled with DeLeon” and DeLeon has a terrible style but his toughnes n power make up for it. Imagine what Rios or Alvarado or even Danny Garcia would do to broner! but just like mayweather, broner wont fight these guys until they get old and lose their explosiveness. or he’ll just wait til they leave the 140 division then he will move up.

he just got to 135.. shutup and give him time….? lol youre crying for this deush bagg (wanna be mayweather) “he just got to 135″ you idiot look up how much that deush weighed in against Vicente Escobedo then re write your stupid plee for broner. Josesito Lopeznhad balls n fought Ortiz and won! im sure mini mayweather wouldnt last in there with the real power punchers at 140 n above. Brandon Rios just got to 140 n beat a true undefeated hard hitting lion heart Alvarado, i would love to see broner eat one to the chin from Rios. then his fat ass daddy can brush his hair on the canvas.

Has to be. Duplicate mug only lacking words like ‘Lantern Jaw’ to seal the deal

He should’ve been a handful rather than conceived

Broner is only 23 years old and has had only 25 fights so he’s got plenty of time to move up when he’s ready, but why jump to light-welter or welter now?

Broner is headed to the bank for a easy one this time. This will look like We are watching Broner on a heavy bag open workout session. A small heavybag at that. But it will go past 2. His corner throws the towel in at around 6 or 7

Brett Holman

What a remarkably boneheaded article. Sure Broner is the favourite but has the writer even seen Gavin Rees fight? There is no way this is over in two rounds, and how can a former world champ who hasn’t lost since dropping his belt and has won championships at European level since not be world ranked? He’s actually one of the more deserving fighters of a title shot at 135, it’s an example of a sensible ranking for once by a governing body

broner needs to go to 140 for crying out loud.he thinks he is the greatest, then what’s another 5 lbs.?140 has talent with garcia, judah, khan, mattesse, and brandon rios who i think is the best along with danny garcia.no one is interested in any fights at 135 with broner.

Rees is a tough kid…no doubt. But Broner will be to much in the skill dept. But Rees will do good in this fight a make a bigger name for himself..which is good overall.

What would you do if Rees beats Broner? imo HBO would not bankroll it if was such as mismatch,

YOUR GOING TO GET A MASSIVE SHOCK THEN SCOTT REES WILL LOSE BUT IT’S GOING TO BE VERY CLOSE AND REES IS GOING TO SHOW THE WORLD THAT BRONERBIS AN OVERHYPED FIGHTER. JUST ANOTHER AMERICAN HYPE JOB :-) THE LAUGH OF IT IS REES ISN’T EVEN THE BEST BRITISH LIGHTWEIGHT HA HA HA HA

David Smith

It’s true, in the past there have been some terrible fighters ranked no.1 by governing bodies but Gavin Rees is not one of them. He’s a former World Champ at 140 pounds and deserves more respect than this joke of a writer has given him. Also, anyone else think Broner is being massively overrated? People are forgetting he struggled with Ponce DeLeon

I’d most certainly say it is! With the crap he’s writing just to get attention, i’d say it’s a sure thing that he would dedicate his sad life to writing almost full-time on two sites, possibly more and under a number of different names.

rees is like a little pitbull and I think hes done the right thing and got inside broners head for this one. I saw the look in broners eyes and he looks genuinely worried. rees has too much power and heart. rees will steamroll him for 8/9 rounds until broner retires on his stool in the 10th
