Kenny WeldonDont like that huh ?….Take fundamentals away from boxing and you take away the game.Make new rules for boxing you take away its fundamentals. Insist on a foreign governing body and you get what you wanted.A body built around its membership and of course politics. Take the forward pass from football and you set it back 100 years. The game falls apart. This is exactly what is happening to boxing……God bless……kenny weldon Posted August 25, 2012 4:25 pmKenny WeldonBoxing takes place in a 20×20 square ring .Football ,soccor, basketball, hockey, and baseball take place on large fields or stadiums. They all have correct fundamentals except for boxing. Does that not matter to the sport .Could that account for boxings down hill drive? Take away fundamental correctness and you take away the game.Well rules by A Posted August 25, 2012 4:17 pmKenny WeldonPAUL…You are correct ,I was one of us myself in and out of the ring 171 times .To not recognize who were in the seats at ringside was all but impossible. This is not a rich vs poor issue alone. It is money,it is race and it is country. It is the ultimate sport ,always has been and always will be .It was a measured sport of one man vs the other with absolute rules, which once represented the the sports peak. Taking away portions of those rules to favor the sports destruction in this country has happened with the counting of punches , outlawing cut off punches ,and a major loss of skills because of those rules. It has put a wall between America and the “sweet science” here where it was grown over the past 120 years. The sport has lost its fundamental foundation ,therefore through rules and “political measures” weakening the foundation of the sport. Politics killed its growth many years ago and will eventually destroy it ……..God bless…..kenny weldon….ps…We as participants can stop it politically. If not….aidios! Posted August 25, 2012 1:35 pmPaul McCreathIt has always been the blue collar workers who formed the fan foundation for boxing.Today with rising seat prices many cannot afford to go any more.Interest has also declined with few meaningful fights on free TV.Contrast this with soccer where on any given Saturday nearly year round I can catch 4 or 5 games involving top teams from all over the world playing against each other and not PPV either. It’s free.Boxing cannot compete with this type of exposure that nearly all other sports get. Posted August 25, 2012 12:41 pmKenny WeldonWhat is happening is doing so all over the country. Houston has more boxers than it ever has .It also has more rules and regulations. The cost of putting on boxing shows and the lack of advertising is killing the sport too.Last, but certainly not least is that the skill level of boxing no longer brings in the big money people.Ringside seats ,where the big betters sit ,seem to have a snake in them instead of RUMPS.Boxing since day one has always been the blue collar guy versus the smart guy .There is no smart guys left .Philly was known around the world for its perfect mixture of both .Today ,they are mostly face fighters. So is Houston ,Texas. It takes two to tango they say. Well, two face fighters do not work. It is all about money and always has been. In boxing ,as in life……KNOWLEDGE WINS…..GOD BLESS…..KENNY WELDON Posted August 25, 2012 11:31 am |
