it is bs that mosley has to keep fighting because a judge decided to give his money to mosleys x wife wife . why give it to the x wife was she a champ did she get punched tens of thousands of times in the face and body she never lost brain cells in the ring .she was even awarded one of his championship belts .joe lewis had to keep fighting because he owed the goverment money mosley has to keep fighting bcause the courts gave away his money to his x wife

Disagree with 1 sided fight against Alvarez, old man Mosley gave Alvarez way more trouble than he bargained 4…If he fights like that again I give him a chance of beating paulie. Mick, my mistake in refering to the IBF. It will in fact be a WBA title fight and even though the WBA has basically the same rules regarding championship bouts as the IBF, the WBA ranks Mosley #14 as a welterweight so Malignaggi can fight him, as long as he still fights the mandatory contender within 9 months of winning his belt over Senchenko last year.

I like the fight but I have to AGREE that it is a lack of fairness to those contenders who deserve the shot vs Paulie.

The wrost PPV I ever saw was Mosley vs Mora. I saw it at the theatre luckily so it was $15 instea of $50. There are so many better matches that could have been on but Golden Boy often provides junk and then you wonder why you have to wait so long to see another fight in the theatres… I understand this is a decent matchup in name value to Showime but yes, it should not be a titlefight opportunity for Mosley.

At some point the public will wake up and take a stand with the obvious MONOPOLY Golden Boy has at Showtime. Every date is given to Golden Boy and they have carte Blanche to put on whomever they want, whenever they want. Canelo V. Josesito Lopez, now this, sprinkle in another Hopkins fight (he did lose his last bout) and countless similar under cards building up the same handful of fighters show after show, while robbing the public the opportunity of seeing any real sampling of up and coming contenders outside of the Golden Boy stable. I don’t blame GBP for this, it’s smart business on their part, but Showtime should be taken to task. There are scores of fighters outside the GBP stable that the public would love to see, yet for whatever reason, the powers that be continue to enable Golden Boy by allowing them to deliver substandard programming time and time again, while rejecting much higher quality cards from other promoters.

Malignaggi might just win this one. Shane used to be the man but he has lost in 3 of 4 of his last bouts with one being a draw. Loses coming to top opponents. I would say Shane has a better chance of winning than Malignaggi has of scoring a stoppage.

The writer asks why is Mosley getting a third straight title shot. If their were only one title per division, certainly this fight ‘as a title fight’ would not happen. When Alvarez fought him, while it is looked upon as a title shot, it just was a fight to have on Alvarez’s resume. Does anyone really look at ALvarez as the true world champ at Jr. Middle weight? Mallagnaggi is certainly no different. The only true champions in the Jr. Middleweight and Welter weight divison right now are Mayweather and Bradley respectively.

IBF rules state that a champion is required to defend his title every nine months against a leading, available contender. But in the interim, the champion can fight other opponents who are rated in the top 15 in his weight class, as “set forth in the ratings of the IBF/USBA…” As you stated, Mosley is not even rated in the top 15 either by the IBF or the USBA. Additionally, what does Schaefer or GBP have to do with anything? Schaefer says he will “let” Mosley have another title shot? If the fight does happen, it breaks a lot of rules and someone should sue both the IBF and Golden Boy. Meanwhile, I hope Paulie decides to fight a real contender. I’ve always had faith in you as a champion Paulie. Now. Act like one.

Mosley is beyond WASHED UP, it is clear he is fighting off of his name and cannot pull the trigger anymore.. Malignaggi is not going to beat him senseless but he should be able to embarass what used to be Sugar Shane… Guys like Mosely unfortunately need that serious KO or TKO loss to send them on their way…I see Shane becoming a more durable version of RJJ fighting in Poland and other obscure venues as circus entertainment for more relevant and younger foes… SAD

Here’s the list: Mayweather, Mora, Pacquiao and Alvarez… sounds like a bunch of nobodies to me. I say if you’re losing to fighters of this caliber, don’t even talk about another title shot, you might as well pack it in.

I’d be surprised if Mosley could take this one. He’s historically struggled against anyone that gives him too much movement (e.g. the second De La Hoya fight, Mora, etc) and Malignaggi will give him plenty whilst firing shots back (albeit light ones, but enough to win rounds). I figure Paulie by pretty wide UD.

What an embarrassing fake title fight. Mosely needs to retire because he’s only going to destroy his reputation. He was one of the best ever, but he’s way too old for this sport. He’s like all the other greats that need money, and he’s going to end up broke and punch drunk, but not in this fight. Malignaggi is a waste of time. The feather punching, big mouth never did anything in boxing vs a way past his time Mosely is a sad scene in boxing. Will people actually show up to see this? The sad state of boxing continues.
