Roy said both at different times about Tarver… Sometimes the truth slips out… He knew in his heart Tarver was the greater fighter.
Saying Roy won the 1st fight of their trilogy is sheer nonsense.. He won that fight like Bradley won the Pacquiao fight.. Roy was all beaten up and booed by his hometown fans who wouldn’t let him raise his hands in victory.. Check out his face.. Roy retracted his arms because the fans let out a torrent of boos.. Tarver beat the crap out of him.
Roy admitted Tarver beat him the 1st fight and made a ton of excuses… Before their rematch Tarver asked him, “Are you going to have any excuses tonight Roy?”Posted January 19, 2013 2:26 am
Typo correction: @Tark Roy never said Tarver would be too much, he said he would have given him trouble whichever part of his career they fought, he never once said he would be too much.

It’s Me, Ernie
That’s right. Must be another Tarkism.Posted January 18, 2013 3:45 pm
Don’t forget Roy beat Tarver the first time they fought !Posted January 18, 2013 7:55 am
That’s easy to say…. Since Roy waited forever to fight AT… And Roy is the one who was crushed.. Like saying.. “Pac would have crushed JMM if he hadn’t been so careless.”
Roy himself admitted Tarver would have been too much for him at any time.Posted January 17, 2013 9:59 pm
after crushing Toney, Virgil Hill, that guy whom Roy lost to do to a disqualfication and the rest of the guys, Roy should have rteired after beating Ruiz rather than losing 25 pounds and trying to go back to 175. Tarver would have lost every round had they fought 5 years prior and had Roy stayed at lhw.Posted January 17, 2013 9:13 pm
Roy would have crushed Tarver had they fought when they were about 30. The beating that Roy gave that English guy would have been similar to what AT would have received.Posted January 17, 2013 9:09 pm
Antonio Tarver waited forever for a Roy Jones fight—and since Antonio is older than Roy it was a long, hard wait… Finally—at the suggestion of a friend—AT embarrassed Roy by taking a portable microphone to a Roy Jones media conference. Tarver loudly disrupted the proceedings by asking Roy why he had been ducking him—Antonio Tarver—for so many years.. Roy responded by making a rash promise to fight Tarver, “I will beat your ass Tarver. That’s a promise.” … a promise that sealed Roy’s doom. SPLAT!!!
Way to go AT… That was an innovative way to corral a sly, slippery avoider.Posted January 17, 2013 4:00 pm
like to see the writer of this article box either of them.Posted January 17, 2013 2:13 pm
Typo=NEVER accomplishPosted January 17, 2013 1:49 pm
He didn’t duck Antonio Tarver … for that many years.Posted January 17, 2013 11:49 am
How the hell was Jones “ducking everyone” he literally had damn near EVERY belt there was to have at LHW…For over 10 years he was the supreme talent in boxing and his run thru 50 bouts trumps what most will EVER accomplish… From 160-HW, 4 weight Champion he was untouchable till he got BADLY touched and thus ends the story… The caricature we see now is a FAR better commentator than fighter.Posted January 17, 2013 11:46 am
Y’all must’ve forgot….that I’m nice with these… Y’all must’ve forgot that I ain’t no joke… Best p4p…Posted January 17, 2013 10:51 am

FA,LMFAO!Posted January 16, 2013 11:05 pm
Looks like since Roy got old he decided to fight all the guys he ducked back when HBO was paying him $8 million to beatdown subway cops.Posted January 16, 2013 6:32 pm
Hell yeah! About time this fight happened. Take him out hard Roy!Posted January 16, 2013 5:06 pm
Mick the Marmalizer
We’ve had the Jeff Fenich/Azuma Nelson fiasco & talk of Barry Michael/Lester Ellis + the constant threat of Ken Buchanan making a comeback. So how about a masters tournament along the lines of what happens in Golf? It would provide entertainment for the fans & a nice little earner for the Boxers!Posted January 16, 2013 3:54 pm
That point about the 50 year old and 20 year old got me too. And you’re damn right about the money.
actually my brother is 51 and his partner is 23 she is well fit and he met her in a pubPosted January 16, 2013 2:55 pm
I agree totallyPosted January 16, 2013 2:30 pm
If there is any kind of dignity left in their promoters, this fight will not happen. Roy could en up with manslaughter chargesPosted January 16, 2013 2:28 pm
Two great fighters turned into a freak show…THIS IS SAD.Dont let this happen.Posted January 16, 2013 2:06 pm
Happy birthday Roy !!Posted January 16, 2013 11:35 am
Good LUCK to them both.Posted January 16, 2013 10:58 am
This saddens me on so many levels.

Well this is a fight I can think of when it comesd down to Roy Jones Jr, a fighter near his own era and with that more faire then see him get beated by young hungry fighters for nothing.Posted January 16, 2013 6:07 am
ok this may seem totally whack but hear me out,,, Tennis has one, so to golf and many other sports , yes thats right the Senior/masters tour .Dress em up in PPE, head gear 12 oz gloves, 8 by 2 rounds with 3 min breaks, any body and i mean any body can stop the fight, no knock down rule (ie you go down thats it) scored on a 1 point must system, The reality of this is, these men, like many before them have reached the pinnicle of possibly the most greulling demending sport around, the traits that got them there still burn strong thats what made them!!! you all cant say after finishing playing whatever sport of choice, you miss it? weather it being weekend amateur G grade football to bottom div Bmx rider, your want to have another go remains there!! so for these men who have dedicated every thing to the sport the calling has to be huge, the will, the want, the mental toughness the very core of what made em so great rise’s from within. Concerning “yes” but who am i to judge really,, We admire from the comfort of lounge chairs and bars whilst drinking beer and critiquing these demi god like figure’s,,,,, then write em off when we KNOW better!!!!!!!Posted January 16, 2013 5:36 am
