TARK

Hand injuries can sidetrack a career and potentially cost millions… I’m a big believer in wrapping your own hands in training and even for fights—which is a completely different wrap and needs to be practiced for many hours. Everyone has unique hands and wrists, and though there are optimum methods to wrap hands, nobody knows one’s hands better than the guy who owns them. I used to wrap and unwrap my hands 5 or 6 times or more while I watched TV, using 2 lengths of LeRoy’s on each hand for the training wrap. Since I watch mostly C-SPAN, news shows, and the financial channel I didn’t need to watch the action 100% to absorb the show. I never had a hand injury. Important items are a massively secure thumb, secure metacarpals, securing the little finger edge of the hand, secure wrists, a great pad for the knuckles, and the ability to touch the finger tips to the palm when making a fist, so you can still make a great fist once you don your gloves.

Probably time to retire. Hand injuries are tough to come back from.
