AA would be wise to do a fight vs Sturm instead of the other elite guys.
It would also be good for the european fans.
Im all for it.

We have to give Sturm a bit of credit for being around for so long however he is not at the top of the middleweights anymore. A fight with Abraham would give him a great end to his career with the possibility of making him a legend in germany. I hope Sturm chooses this path as if he ends up fighting Golovkin, Martinez, or even Chavez I think he’ll have a painful and possibly horizontal end to his career.

The Kingslayer

It’s made sense for years but Sturm was too scared to accept the two offers he received.

Sturm is mediocrity incarnate, and boring to watch as well. Abraham v Pavlik, Kessler or JCCJr. would be a much more interesting fight.

Abraham vs. Sturm is a mixed bag between two fighters who are really not elite fighters and who are really past their prime. I think you will see a lot of holding.

I.O.

I want that fight… the last time I saw Sturm losing was against Javier EL LINCE Castillejo and by TKO…. Abraham – Sturm would be a great fight….

the elite at 160 is Martinez, Pirog and Golovkin and not chavez.

Abraham should try to go back to 160 and i think he could beat Chavez, Gale and Sturm

Abraham’s a banger with legitimate power. But for those of us who also like the “sweet science” Sturm is one of the most under rated boxers out there. He’s easily on par with the two other outstanding boxers: Adrien Broner and “Tommy-gun” Oosthuizen. Sturm-Abraham would be a lot of fun to watch.

I just saw the fight. And my first thought is that I believe that Arthur Abraham is good for boxing. He has not been able to do real damage at the elite level — but he does have power and power is always good for boxing. Having said that, I think this was a wasted opportunity for Abraham. I scored the fight a draw. I gave Abraham rounds 1, 4,5,6, 10, and 11. I have Steiglitz 2,3,7,8, 9, and 12. Even fight. 6 rounds each. Abraham did some good things that we have not seen before. Abraham is usually a round-house puncher with really wide shots. In this fight, he did a great job mixing up round-house rights and lefts with strong, hard straight 1-2 combinations right up the middle. These punches hurt Steiglitz particularly in rounds 4,5,6. Abraham also showed more movement. Abraham normally goes to the ear-muffs keeping his hand up high as his defense. In this fight, Abraham showed more head movement, more ducking and dodging, and more lateral movement. He footwork was good and he moved away from the punches. Abraham also did a few things in round 1 we have never seen before including double jab to push back his opponent and jabs to the body. It was overall a better boxing performance from Abraham who has a history of holding his hands up high, waiting for the right moment, and then throwing a few bombs. Having said that, we saw a lot of the old Abraham — and this the wasted opportunity. Abraham had Steiglitz hurt in rounds 4,5,6 and he had chance to end the fight spectacularly. But his conditioning was not at the elite level. He did not throw enough jabs to the body against Steiglitz. He did not set-up traps going head-body, head body. He did not use the double jab enough to push Steiglitz back. As a result, I thought Steiglitz showed heart and guts and came back strong in 7, 8, and 9. I think Steiglitz is like Kessler but with less reach, less speed, less power. It could have been a spectacular performance from Abraham taking out Steiglitz and it could have and should have happened in rounds 7-8. But it was a wasted opportunity and I don’t see how Abraham versus any of the really elite fighters at 168 would be any different. Abraham vs. Sturm is a mixed bag. 5 years ago, I would have said Sturm would win that fight easily with more speed, more stamina, more boxing technique, and better combinations. Today, I think Sturm has slowed down and fight mediocre at best againt mediocre competition. But I don’t think either Abraham or Sturm can fight competitively against elite fighters at 160 (Martinez, Chavez) or 168 (Ward, Froch).

Kessler would sink brave, but overpowered Abraham in a fight. But it would definitely be a goow battle to watch.
