Not excuses, they are facts. So where is your praise for Dawson for making this fight happen? (When you’re contemplating that ask yourself how many champs do you know who are willing to DROP weight to fight the champ below them?)

KOrnerman

Excuses from Dawson already.

Ummm, maybe Chad brought up the weight issue to emphasize how much he wanted this fight. Dawson’s critics — ask yourself what you would be saying if Dawson had balked at the idea of dropping to 168 to make this fight happen? Probably something like, ‘Dawson is scared to fight Ward.’ ‘Dawson knows he get exposed if he fought Ward.’ I ask, Dawson has always fought the best, so why can’t Chad ever get any respect?

for real.. well said and spot on. If Ward had called out Dawson, they Dawson would would have had the leverage to demand a catchweight or even make the fight at 175, but he didnt. instead he called out a naturaly smaller man who is on a hot streak, and my assumption is that dawson thinks he can bully him around because he is naturaly bigger taking in the footsteps of BHop who did this for years againsts big names akaTrinidad, Keith Holmes, De La Hoya, Pavlik, Wright yada yada yada.

If the weight doesn’t bother him, why is he bringing it up?

RUFFKNIGHT

They have enough weight divisions now so they just plain do not need “catchweight”. Go to the other weight at your own risk , that’s all.

“I wanted the Ward fight at 170lb catchweight but they said no”….smh…. You should be fighting people at your own weight anyway…. Am I the only on tired of all this catchweight BS?…. Its ok sometimes but NEVER for a title…. If you want someone’s title fight them at their own weight or shut up…

Already setting up another excuse after he loses. He’s already talking like a potential ‘loser’, his confidence is wilting. Has he already forgotten PUBLICLY called Ward out at 168Lbs?? That night he clearly said that the weight didn’t matter. Sounding very lame. Ward will dominate a fustrated Chad down the stretch. Dawson looked gassed at the end of Hopkins fight. This time he won’t be facing a super slow paced, minimal output 47yr old. Ward wins!

Styles make fights; but he better be on his A game fighting Ward. Ward is an extremely intelligent fighter. Kind of reminds me of RJJ when it comes to ring savvy. May the best man win!!!!

Well Dawson was the one who challanged Ward. it’s within his right not to fall prey into this “catchweight” freak show that boxing has been subjected too. he wants wards belt, then make the weight. if ward challanged Dawson, then he could have demanded that they fight be at 175

When Dawson called out Ward after his fight with Bhop, Dawson said he wanted Ward at 168 or 175 or whatever. Ward chose 168 and now Dawson is crying that he wanted a catchweight. Dawson is a punk. I hope he can stay focused during this fight to witness a lesson in boxing from Ward. Dawson looked horrible fighting Bhop who was old enough to be his dad. Even against Adrian Diaconu Dawson was always on the retreat when Diaconu was on the offensive. He has some nerve talking like he is someone special.

I believe dropping in weight for Dawson is serious. I want to say Dawson will be at his 100 percent capability. He has all the motivation to win unlike some other fights, plus he has the underdog tag. God bless and let he better man win on the 8th.

Dawson has not stopped anyone since 2007! In Ward he will be facing Whitaker-like defense. I seriously doubt Dawson will be scoring any TKO against Ward.

Dawson beat Adamek, BHops, and Tarver. I am not sure ward could beat those guys. Weight might be an issue, but Chad looked good training on 24/7.

Since there’s no catch weight Chad can rehydrate IMO it was a good decision

If Dawson keeps that work rate I give a to or UD

Dawson simply does not throw enough punches to beat Ward. Ward fights as if every round is the only round that exists — it is why he rarely loses rounds. Dawson fights as if he needs to come out on top in the end. Unfortunately he will be giving away rounds along the way and the end will hand Ward a comfortable UD.

A 100% focused Dawson can be a very scary thing but is he capable of this? he hasn’t done it yet but showed great composure when b-hop tried to get dirty last time. hopefully this is what his career has been building up to and this becomes the night he puts it altogether. Chad’s got so many weapons in his arsenal along with good defense and a chin, if he can get working on all cylinder sand put beautiful combos together and up his workrate no one could beat him. My guess is that he doesn’t do this and has a few mental lapses that allow Ward inside and then it’s game over. I think Dawson keeps Ward outside for the first 4-5 rounds of the fight then ward gets inside and has his way sweeping the last half. Being in Oakland Chad will need to win no less than 8 clear rounds to even get a SD.

I’m very surprised Ward took this fight, tbh. Dawson is a much bigger threat than anyone else he’s faced. For the first time in his career, Ward won’t be the fastest and slickest guy in the ring. Plus, Dawson has a sizable height and reach advantage, iirc. But Ward has the superior ring intelligence and ability to adapt. I’m expecting Ward to jump in, hit Dawson two or three times, then jump back out of range or hold. It will frustrate the hell out of Dawson if he can’t learn to time him coming in. It will be an interesting chess match.

Dawson I wish would of Ko’d Hopkins. Dirtbag Bernard

Posted August 26, 2012 6:11 pm

I wish Bad Chad would of knocked out Hopkins. Hopkins or Fraudkins is one of the dirtiest to step in the ring

Your already the bigger fighter how many advantages do you need. Your going to lose anyway Chad.

It’s Me, Ernie…

Another cowardly move by Ward, wouldn’t even give two effin pounds up. Business as usual.

Those seven pounds are gonna make all the differnce.Dawson is fantastic at 175, but 168 is unknown territory.

Ward doesn’t have the big fan base. Dawson has a following and has been an hbo fighter for years son. Get with he program. Ward has not
