I belive trout would be mayweather toughest fight to date because he is a big jr middle weight lefty that is slick . He wouldnot be mayweathers biggest name nor am I saying trout is surely going to be a hall of fame fighter .But going into fight with trout now . I wouldnt make mayweather a over welmining favorite. If mayweather took on trout now he deserve the credit for taking a tough fight if alverez fights trout he deserves the credit

No fight with guerrero … Floyd is smart enuf to see its jus gonna be 500k ppv … Will take another vacation to find his balls to fight pac, canelo or martinez. Or better jus retire, gud for boxing.

I am a big fan of Mayweather but this is getting boring now, just name your opponent!! It better be a big shock i.e. Klitscko haha, to warrant this delay, everybody is guessing Guerrero but im hoping its Canelo.

Adrian – Simple, because when Floyd is entertaining the idea of fighting Bradley, when he was undefeated, haters claimed he was cherry picking an easy opponent. But when Manny did it, – he’s brave. Just like right now, if Floyd fights Guerrero, he’s a cherry picker, but if Manny shocks everyone and announces he’s fighting Guerrero, those same people will be calling him brave and taking a risk.

Is that really true that Pacquiao crapped his pants when he got knocked out? I tried to google it but not much is showing up.

Posted February 2, 2013 10:09 am

the real ernie

Pac got hit so hard he crapped his pants. His wifey was the first one to notice too. Manny didn’t even know he took a number two in his pants!!! He’s the best fighter ever! How many boxers have ever pooped their pants in the ring? Manny is number one!

commonsense

Yes, i agree the longer two fighters wait to fight when one is 36 and the other is what 23? 24? that yea by waiting that benefits the 36 year old. Wow. What logic. Mayweather can just wait for a kid in early 20′s to get old before he fights him. Heck knowing Floyd he will probably wait till he’s 50 and Canelo is Money’s age now. Then Floyd would win easily. I guess Floyd doesn’t age like every other human being ever. I heard Mayweather’s body actually produces more testosterone the older he gets. And he gets faster too.

Yeah nasim Ahmed had that too until he got his ass kicked by Barrera and yes people payed to see him fight before that but after Barrera fight he has been the most ridiculed fighter ever …the same thing will happen to mayweather if he losses be aide the mark ability that he had will turn against him, so good luck too him!

What’s new prince ?
I remember you blaming manny about the test before now the new reason is 60/40 split right? What else ?
Also how in the hell can you say manny cherry picked breadly when the guy was undefited and considered the top 140 ponder in the world???

Last time I saw fiddy cent, he was dropping from the ceiling into the ring, to promote the Gamboa fight. No wonder Mayweather and he had a falling out. No even Mayweather wanted anything to do with that crap.

Floyd is not only a boxing genius, but a pretty good business man as well. That’s one of the many reasons haters can’t stand him. Just like when the idea of Tim Bradley as an opponent came up, haters were trying to say Floyd was cherrypicking, but when Manny cherrypicked Bradley – and paid the price for it – those same haters were praising him. But that’s the biased mindset of the boxing fan. If Manny would have actually agreed to the 40-60 split and fought Mayweather, his current situation with Marquez might not have happened at all.

Popular fighters are GOOD for a sport that thrives on personalities when will you dummies realize that its a combo of skills and marketability that sell?? Ray Leonard, Tyson and Mayweather have that “It Factor” that makes people want to come out and pay to see them fight…These forgotten boxers need to give it up!!

I hope he gets beat, down. This guy has taken boxing to an ugly level like Sugar Ray Leonard and DLH. Until Leonard got beat by Camacho and Norris then got his lesson not to play with boxing.

Floyd tried to fight Oscar earlier but Oscar didn’t want to fight him. Floyd tried to fight Mosley at 140 which was in Mosleys prime and Mosley jumped to 147 instead. Margacheato didn’t deserve a fight with Floyd and also didn’t bring any money. Paul Williams was overrated and really didn’t bring any money to the table. Floyd is just a great fighter that will be missed once gone.

Broner and Mattheysee dangerous for Floyd? you gotta be joking? a mentally weak Zab Judah managed to defeat Mattheysee and Floyd is too strong for Adrian Broner who has just had ONE bout at 135 pounds whereas Floyd has fought 154 pounders… Get real…. Mattheysee is about HALF as dangerous to Floyd as ODH was… Lucas lacks the boxing IQ to even make decent contact, do you really think Floyd is Mike Dallas??

Mayweather is a MASTER marketer he has basically cultivated SO much demand for his fights that he has the casual and hardcore fan at his mercy… GOOD for him!!! Boxing is a business and with all the boxers getting robbed, underpaid, brain damaged and abused its good that Floyd has taken control of his career and partnered with someone who will help him maximize his income during his career… All the haters and fans don’t matter when you are broke and brain damaged like other greats SRL and Joe Louis

Floyd is a great fighter. However, i’m tired of waiting, waiting, waiting….. I don’t care how much “money” he has or who his rapper friend is. I just want to see skills in the ring more often than once every 18 months or so.

I would not buy any of these fights, Floyd allowed the Pacman fight to disappear, that’s a fight we would have bought. For a guy who calls himself “money” he won’t get any of mine, unless he fights Martinez, Broner, 3G, Matteyse,or any current dangerous opponent .

Yeah if he had fought and beat the likes of Margarito and Paul Williams at their prime I would vouch for him more but he did avoid some good fighters in their prime, DLH would have gave him an even tougher fight a few years earlier and Castillo should have got the not in the first fight with him so he aint that great.

Everybody wanted Floyd to fight Pac but yet Pac is way smaller than Floyd. So if they would of fought and then after Floyd toyed with him everybody would say that fight should of never been made, Pac was to small for Floyd. Just like folks where saying after Hopkins dominated Trinidad for 11 and half rounds before TKOing him. This after Tito KO’d every other Middle he fought at the time

Posted February 1, 2013 12:09 am

So since Floyd has fought 147 and 154 pounders then we need to crucify Oscar and Cotto for fighting a lighter fighter. Damn them I can’t beleive they fought Floyd. They should of fought someone there own size or bigger, but weight how could they fight someone bigger because then the bigger fighter is going to take on a smaller fighter again. Will these chain of events ever stop? Folks get a clue

Has Canelo an opponent yet for May 4th? wudnt surprise me if Floyd goes straight for him in May, cos he is a massive draw at the moment & if he waits on him someone else may expose Canelo & kill this fight, he should learn from the Pac fiasco not to build the fight too long…

Bradley v Floyd SHOULD be a big event – 2 undefeated American welterweights etc, unfortunately it isn’t though as Bradley couldn’t draw flies to a turd! Devon Alexander has the same problem, so Floyd may struggle for big name at 147lbs if he takes Canelo in May. The perfect scenario would be if Pac could redeem himself in time for a Sept fight with Floyd – highly unlikely though!

Posted January 31, 2013 7:44 pm

WHOEVER fights Floyd next – 1) Study Floyd Sr. fighting Sugar Ray Leonard on YouTube. 2) CUT the ring and get Floyd on the ropes a lot. 3) when he puts up the cross over defense – use your right hand to punch Floyd’s LEFT side rib cage and LEFT upper side of his head. 4) Throw punches constantly, even if they only hit arms. Even if he’s a smart fighter, he cannot at his age deal with non stop punches flying at him

Posted January 31, 2013 7:30 pm

Ricky Hatton was undefeated, and so was Diego Corrales how the hell is the story that “Floyd only faces damaged opponents” ALL fighters Floyd included are damaged on some level you get hit, you have training injuries etc… Manny Pacquiao did his BEST work in boxing after 2 early career stoppage losses…Normally the ONLY undefeated fighters are NEW boxers as opposed to guys who have proven they can actually fight… Sheesh…

BTW, has anybody else read news about Gamboa being linked to performance enhancing drugs?
Apparently they found records linking him (and other athletes like Alex Rodriguez and more) when they closed down a Miami clinic. The records were specific enough to say that Gamboa was to start “cleaning the system” before his fight with Bam Bam.

Mayweather only faces damaged opponents. If Robert Jackson is correct and Canelo barely escapes in his next fight, then expect to see them square off in Sept. However, a Canelo KO will send Floyd running in the opposite direction.

Posted January 31, 2013 6:29 pm

Good article and I agree perfectly with the perspective on Guerrero. Robert has literally “built” some momentum by beating Aydin, who was supposed to be the #1 ranked fighter in the division, but really, after seeing his performance against Soto Karass -capable, solid and brave, but not an elite fighter by any means- people should know better. Then he fought a Berto coming off a loss, a suspension and a positive test for doping. Other than that he claims to be a 5 division champ (hey, that’s more than Shane Mosley!), but has never fought a top guy.
Now he’ll get his chance and EVERYONE knows how this one will end, Mayweather by a beating. Except for Oscar De La Hoya, who will tell us he’s seen Guerrero training harder than ever and this kid is underrated but he’ll shock the world on May 4… blah blah blah.

I notice Maequez is not on the list. WHY ? Rememmber they fought at a weight where Floyd was much heavier and paid Marquez -off. After the fight which I didn’t think he showed as much MASTERY as Larry Merchant and jim Lamopley were shoving down our throats, Juan simply said, let me have 2 more fights at this weight (AND I WILL BEAT HIM) again (I WILL BEAT HIM) not I’ll fight him ! I’LL BEAT HIM. NOT TO MANY FIGHTERS SAY THAT ABOUT FLOYD, BUT YOU GOTTA BELIOEVE THAT MARQUEZ HAS BEEN PIUNCHING A LOG WITH FLOYDS FACE ON IT SINCE HE LOST !!!

Floyd is the top dog in the drivers seat, Logical fight would be Guerro since Alverez already has a fight. He could also fight Martinez at 154lbs or even Trout . either one would be big. Time Bradley would be good but unlikely since he is owned by top rank, Possibilities are endless he was right he doesnt need Manny….

1-ton is exactly right. The announcement might come Saturday night after the MVP and other awards are handed out but it will be this weekend. Not sure if the fight really thrills me but its better than most. Canelo will be in Sept.

Expect an announcement this weekend in New Orleans where he will have the attention of the national media. Floyd has been deliberately coy about his choice of opponent. But rest assured, it will be Guerrero. He is just waiting for Super Bowl weekend to announce.

It’s all about the money, that’s why a Robert Guerrero fight would make the most sense for May 4. This guaranties a nice payday for Floyd with a very low risk of losing the fight. At the same time, add Canelo to the same card against another low-risk fighter and be prepared for a sell-out pay-per-view event.

And then, on September 14, it will be Floyd against Canelo for a much bigger pay-per-view event and add Timothy Bradley in a rematch against Pac and/or throw Sergio Martinez in the mix.

Posted January 31, 2013 1:27 pm

Rem

I like this fight it will be a good one. With no shoulder roll and a tad slower lateral movement Floyd will stand in the pocket and fight Guerrero. Perfect fight for Floyd it will be another crowd pleaser and Floyd will win because Guerrero doesnt have the tools to beat him. Btw still think Pac does have the tools to smoke Floyd and this fight will help size up that matchup even better. Pac is still the best fight for Floyd at a fair weight. Dudes saying Martinez, Trout and Canelo their much bigger than Floyd and he has no chance of beating Martinez at or Trout at jmw.

Posted January 31, 2013 1:16 pm

My money is on Guerrero, he’s on a crest of a wave and Interim champ to Floyds title and American Mexican and hes’ hungry, makes sense in every department.
