Anon, it was 6 fights in a row Del lost, his girl kicked his ass too. He would still
have cred in a fight with Wlad though, just due to the spit thang.

Wow! I am excited. I figured Wlad would duck Fres like he ducked Toney and Ruiz. Two conquerers over Fres.

africa is the future thats all you have to do to get a fight with the heavyweight champ of the world is spit at the champ like delboy did and get millioms for it .Even if delboy has lost his last four fights in a row well 5 if you want to count the street fight with Haye . on second thought it wasn 5 fights that delboy lost in a row he did beat his girlfriend ass

Boxers these days last longer.

But name a heavyweight out there who wouldn’t be a big underdog against either Klitschko?

Posted February 6, 2013 4:26 pm

smatt

Old Holyfield knocked Frez to the floor with the very FIRST shot he threw at him in their fight! LOL

Robert Helenius is borderline garbage he did NOT “outbox” Chisora anymore than I did he was getting chased around that ring and worked over that win is a STAIN on his reputation and summarily dismissed by the boxing Gods who gave Chisora a shot at a portion of the HW Championship….

Wladimir Klitschko is ducking James Toney and Dereck Chisora? Seriusly are some here serius? James Toney HAD and HAVES no chanse against Wladimir, don’t make any one laugh here. Toney is not an original heavyweight, he is to small for Wladimir and would have serius trouble to even hit him and beside, he was offered a world title shot twice in 2006 and 2007 but Toney turned down. Toney could not even defeat Samuel Peter who Wladimir have defeated twice and Toney is a shot fighter an not longer a serius contender. And Dereck Chisora, yeah he is a togh boxer I give it to him he haves potentail but he have lost 3 fights in a row (Robert Helenius, Vitali Klitschko and David Haye outboxed him) and have only won 1 fight in his 5 latest fights so how does that make him worthy of a worlde title fight?

Good grief didn’t Oquendo retire? Who is the next opponent…John Ruiz? These K brothers really need to get permission from their Mom to fight each other. This division is deader than a doornail

Boxmaster

A guy who James Toney beat, but Wlad wont fight James Toney? WTF? Why is Wlad cherry picking the easiest journeyman fights he can? Now I’m starting to think he really is ducking James Toney.

Posted February 6, 2013 4:52 am

Neil(pomy)

How is a journeyman get a title shot?

Posted February 6, 2013 4:46 am

SVDC

Difficult to believe… Oquendo does not even have a decent fan base in his own country… and he is the kind of fighter it’s difficult to look really good against. Would be very surprised if this is true.

Atleast he will have someone else to blame for the match making..

Posted February 5, 2013 10:23 pm

If the stench from the Mormeck fight wasnt enough for Wlad to think about who he fights then he might as well sign up with top rank…

Truth. Wlad ducked Chisora – twice!!! lol…

Posted February 5, 2013 9:35 pm

….ehhh I dont know how to respond to this news. I thod and still hopes Odlianer Solis steps up for the challange as Alexander Povetkin continues to run. Not Fres Oquendo. Who have Oquendo defeated to get a 3rd world title shot? That is the thing, he have not and even if Solis is not that great either, he is still at the time a better opponent and more interesting thret then Oquendo is and ever was. Seriusly is he the only man out there who is the worthy? No. Is he the only one who dares to face Wladimir Klitschko? Well it sems to be that case.

Fight Aficionado

I seriously doubt this. Wishful thinking on his part and Fightnews is probably just trying to give a plug to his promoter to make it seem like he’s a world player. Does his promoter advertise with Fightnews? If so, there’s your answer. Fres is probably not even on Wlad’s radar.

Another pointless Klitschko fight. No wonder people are switching off from boxing with mismatches like these.

Posted February 5, 2013 6:05 pm

What’s all the fuss about? Oquendo at 39 is well past his prime with 7 losses, so it’s likely Vlad will win. Nothing against Fres, but this is obviously a tune-up, warm-up. stay busy fight for Vlad before he faces Povetkin. There’s nothing wrong with touching little kids.

There is something seriously wrong with the writers brain. Fres is an old boxer who has failed to accomplish anything in the division from a decade back. To even mention his name is criminal. Why would you even consider him as a competitor against Klitschko? NO, EVERYONE knows this fight would be a huge mismatch ! Pointless ! Dam, Kubret Pulev is number one in the IBF rankings !! This is who Klitschko should be fighting !!!!

I can’t even form an opinion. Not worth the time

Sickening waste of type.

What has Frez done to earn this? Nothing, that’s what.

Why?

Posted February 5, 2013 3:39 pm

top hat

Yeah i agree with knowall. Its only a vol defence before the pov fight which has to happen Fres is more deserving than most of the klitchko opponents anyway. With pov next, arreolla fury and stivrne all waiting for vital, putev getting the winner of pov klit, jennings not good enough, haye only wanting vitali, thompson and price having there own battle and wilder refusing to fight anyone who hits back there is not a great deal to choose from

Posted February 5, 2013 3:34 pm

fast79z

oquendo goes down during instructions gets back up and then stayes down just before round one, yep, thats how bad the fight is
, garbage!, i hope this is a joke

Devastator

Oquendo who lost to Mormeck who was easily KO’d by the Klit. What a joke he is.

Posted February 5, 2013 2:42 pm

knowall

I actually like fres a lot. He deserved this shot years ago as he took on, but not always beat, some of the high ranked guys rather than fight bums every fight. I doubt now he will have much to trouble wlad, but with fres I wouldnt rule anything out.

Posted February 5, 2013 2:22 pm

rictx

lol, pathetic , Oquendo would be just a ridiculous sparring partner for Wlad , we want see David Price/Wlad , Deontay Wilder/Wlad , Kubrat Pulev/Wlad , Tyson Fury/Wlad , Alexander Povetkin/Wlad

Posted February 5, 2013 2:02 pm

Nathan

I hope that this is just a lame rumor. Oquendo is ranked #54 by boxrec so it’s fairly accurate probably meaning he is not better than #40 or worse than #70 as a heavyweight. He’s ranked #18 in US Heavy’s… So WHY would he get a shot?
Even guys like Deontay Wilder is ranked #29 in the world.
I guess every heavyweight contender is “waiting” out the bros retirement or already lost once or twice to a bro. Every guy who wouldn’t normally get a shot is so the fans suffer.
I I miss the days when the top Heavyweight contenders would fight for the fans like when Razor Ruddock fought Lennox Lewis in 1992 instead of just waiting for another title shot. At least guys like Banks and Mitchell are doing that, but more top 10 guys need to be fighting each other, Adamek, Fury, Price, etc

Posted February 5, 2013 2:01 pm

c

I think there is some one more deserving of a title shot

Posted February 5, 2013 1:42 pm

‘Okay, first things first, Oquendo would enter the ring with Wladimir as a substantial underdog, probably a massive underdog’…. had to read that a couple of times…..
