I doubt that any 175er the last 5 years has made as much money as Kessler at 168. Maybe Calzaghe but he boxed only a few fights up at 175. The money follows the boxer more than the weight limits.

Chris Henry is Mack’s best and only significant win if you can count any. Daniel Judah was all hyped. Otis Griffin is better known for other things. I would even say that Froch would have been better served to fight Miranda than Mack but Edison Miranda will be fighting Tony Bellew.
I’m sure Matchroom will make a big deal about how Yusaf is a “Philly fighter” and how Philly fighters have such a great history… yada..yada..yada.. Just a guess. If that was a wager I’d bet heavy that his birth/residence in Philly gets mentioned in the promotion. Shows you the desperation to push this easy title defense through…

Mack can hang till you clock him with one or two solid shots, then he sees stars. He can give Froch some rounds and trade but Froch is the kind of guy where if you don’t hold him off with a solid offense he can make it a quick night.
I would predict a Froch KO but I just couldn’t tell you if it is prior to the 5th round or later. Because Froch went after Bute pretty early, he probably won’t see Mack as being any threat to him, certainly not more than Bute was hyped to be.
Yeah Mack is smack on #15 boxrec where I guessed and he’s a natural Light Heavy the last 5 years. If this is at 168 he will be weak. If he runs he will be winded after a couple rounds if he makes it that long. Some heavy Froch shots to the body or head and it will be all over. I would bet on Froch by KO.

Is it my imagination or does it seem like Froch and Ward are deathly afraid of moving up to 175? They can’t possibly say it’s a money thing because there’s less money at 168 than there is at 175. I would love to hear someone ask them this question directly so that we can hear the answer.

I think people are really underestimating Mack . I’m not saying he is to defeat froch but I do believe it will be more competitive then what most people think. First off he is a counter puncher and a south paw. Yusaf Mack is very awkward boxer which will allow him to be competitive for a few rounds but eventually he will gas out which has been his motto in his losses. I think it’s a good tune up. It will keep Carl busy and he gets to fight at home. Froch by tko 6rd.

Yusef Mack vs. Froch would not be a competitive fight. Watching Mack eventually get knocked out by Froch would be like watching a guy try to cross the street and get struck by a tractor-trailer.

There’s a difference between “easier” fight and “pointless” fight, i think this is the latter. :cry:

I genuinely believe Froch wanted to fight a decent opponent, but, i think Matchroom and Interbox had the last say unfortunately.

Couldn’t Hearn have given a call to Balzsay, Mundine or Magee? They’re easy fights and much better names.

Mack is at best a fringe contender and more realistically a trial horse level fighter but it would be unfair to criticize Froch for taking an easy voluntary defense.He has met the best and deserves a soft touch payday type fight.
