the way I think they come out in a tournement is 1 mayweather 2 trout vs alverez a toss up and the smaller x feather weight guerro t last . not to say guerro not good and tough he is . but again floyd picked the easiest fight of the night. the same way he some how ducked a a big prime paul williams pre ruined paquia a big tough margurito or a less shop warn cotto . instead he chose to fight smaller ricky hatton and marquez . guess you cant blame him he still makes the money and will be able to count it when he retires but see it for what it is

Bart you’re living in lala land. How can you define Trout without mention of the Coto fight? If The Ghost has a ‘verygood’ chance of beating Floyd, how is that cherrypicking? Sounds to me like you’re the one who is cherry picking the facts to come up with your opinions. Which of course you have a right to. Just sayin’

Don’t particularly like this card; however I think some surprises might be in store. Canelo vs Trout should be interesting, Trout is a great defensive fighter while Canelo is a balanced well taught fighter who actually has very good power. Trout won a questionable decision against Rodriquez who has only mediocre power, he was tagged consistently by Rodriquez & if that happens against Canelo he won’t survive. Maywether is cherry picking again, but I give Guerrero a very good chance to pull the upset. If the referee allows the fight in side ,with Guerrero’s relentless pressure I just think Maywether might wilt.
I like Guerrero by decision & Canelo by late round stoppage .

I agree with you, if The Ghost goes back and see the Judah vs Mayweather fight he will have a hell of a chance especially when I think he has better stamina than Judah cause thats why he lost to MW cause he ran out of gas, but if not he would of won that fight. And cuddos to Alvarez for fighting Trout only fair after he beat my countryman Cotto which should retire now.

i would not count guerrero out of this bout. he has a good chance to score an upset.i think a lot of it depends on the refferee, and rather he lets guerrero fight his type of bout? a lot of inside mulling and brawling.

ONCE AGAIN THAT THAT CRAFTY VULTURE MAYWEATHER SITS BACK AS THE LIONS IN DIVISION FIGHT IT OUT . THIS TIME ALVAREZ VS TROUT . HOPING THE DIVISIONS TOUGH GUYS INJURY EACH OTHER AND HE CAN AVOID THEM . OR THEN PICK OFF THE INJURED . JUST THE WAY HE AVOIDED PRIME PAUL WILLIAMS , COTTO, , PACMAN , MARGARITO , CLOTTY INSTEAD FACING THE SMALLER HATTON AND PRE STERIOD MARQUEZ .CALL IT WHAT YOU WANT GOODBUSINESSMAN OR CHERRY PICKER ?

I think canelo and trout will be a good competitive fight. I see trout slightly ahead on the scorecards before Alvarez stops him in the late rounds. Maybe tko11. I see the mayweather and Guerrero fight as a similar fight to the one he had with Ricky hatton. The only difference is I don’t see mayweather stopping Guerrero and I think Guerrero will make it a little more competitive than Hatton did. But I see another clear cut UD victory coming for Floyd. As in the form of a 117-111 type of score possibly.

What fighter at 147 should FMJ fight? Who at 147 has had a BIGGER WIN in a FOTY candidate than Guerrero?? Floyd killed Marquez so that’s a joke, Manny just got out to sleep so why not Guerrero?? Because he’s and underdog ?? Floyd’s the best in the world by a decent margin so if we refer to odds the no one deserves to fight him unless they are bigger which is bogus… FMJ is coming out of prison, if he is such a BAD fighter or Fraud then Guerrero should have no problem handling him right??? Yeah keep telling yourselves that one…

Posted February 16, 2013 3:05 pm

Aficionado I have to call you out, truth is that unless Floyd fights who?? Will you give him credit??? He is 36 years OLD which is NOT young in boxing yet you still see damn near everyone presented as not worthy to share the ring with him…Guerrero matches up physically (5’8) better with Floyd than PAC Man who will look like Marquez did in the ring with FMJ, I am not saying Pacs not the more accomplished fighter but he started in a lower weight class than Robert ever did… If Floyd wins it will be against a PRIME, 4 division Champ, and southpaw sorry but that’s hardly a weak opponent … Floyd’s NOT a true Jr MW and you know that, both guys he fought there were best at 147.. (ODH and Cotto) Lets be honest as long as Mayweather does not have a hand tied behind his back you’re gonna give him grief…

“Trout is going to whip canelos ass. But he won’t get the win. Another robbery is coming” — I don’t see that. Canelo has good fundamental skills that belie the overprotective matchmaking GBP has done. I got a feeling he KOs Trout but nobody would give him credit anyhow because they’re used to hating on him at this point. They’d say Trout beat a shot Cotto therefore beating Trout was nothing. I’ve been critical of Canelo’s comp to date but I think we gotta give credit where it’s due. Trout’s a good skillful boxer who can bang as well. Good evenly matched fight.

Posted February 16, 2013 1:48 pm

HHLondon

SRed is right. Canelo for me is extremely underrated and while they’ve been slow to bring him along, he’s a very solid, well rounded boxer and we’re lucky enough to get another division or two out of him. Let’s not forget, he’s only 22, got years ahead of him and it’s not surprising he looks a little green sometimes.

Posted February 16, 2013 1:46 pm

Fight Aficionado

If Canelo does face Trout he gets props for stepping up his comp instead of dragging up another safe body from flyweight. As for Floyd, whatever. It just continues the cherrypicking he’s done for years already.

I would say Ortiz was pretty hungry. Guerrero got messed up by Berto when they were actually boxing. Guerrero won that fight by mugging Berto.

If it is a separate boxing bout Canelo/Trout people are more interested than Fraudie vs Guererro fight. Canelo/Trout id far more interesting matchup.

Would not be surprised. But Trout should know this. And fight to win decisively.

Posted February 16, 2013 12:34 pm

KC,
The reason why Canelo/Trout is in the card because both guys can give a good show that will help the main event to sell ticket. I’m interested to see Canelo/Trout than Fraudie vs Guererro. GBP is just using Canelo/Trout fight for Fraudie to make more money but can’t give a good show.

Tell you what, K.C. “Fraud” sure as he** doesn’t deserve a multi-million dollar payday for fighting Guerrero. Now, if Berto was a big-name, big-draw fighter, who Guerrero beat decisively, that would be different. Berto has had some good wins against good opponents, but he just ain’t that smart of a boxer and that’s his downfall–and that’s who Guerrero beat. So, The Ghost doesn’t have a chance against Floyd. Floyd doesn’t care however–the same fools will pay over and over and over to see him fight. I wish I had the talent to cheat people out of money like that.

“Canelo by ROBBERY” Canelo will win by clean UD. He won’t need any help from crooked judges and referees.

Posted February 16, 2013 11:46 am

K.C.

I dont think anyone is overestimating Trout. Point is the Canelo is a champion. He shouldn’t take second place to Fraud. Canelo should have this fight separate from Fraud. Of course they will hype this match as a stepping stone to a fraud showdown. Either way Fraud dosen’t deserve a big PPV payday…handed to his arrogant self! Canelo should never give Fraud the satisfaction of a match. Let Fraud ride off in the sunset with Bernard Hopkins hand in hand!

Posted February 16, 2013 11:41 am

Hidalgo

If the fight happens, I’ll take Canelo over Trout by UD or late stoppage. Guaranteed: Once Trout tastes Alvarez’s power, he’ll do his best to stay outside–just ike he did against Rodriguez for most of that fight. Canelo will beat Austin Trout.

Posted February 16, 2013 11:35 am

SREDMOND

Canelo vs Trout is interesting but a lot of you are ahead of yourself thinking that Canelo is going to be eaten alive by Austin… Canelo has solid fundamentals, a strong body attack, solid power at Jr MW… He is poised in the ring and Trouts going have to take punches in order to win… I would see this bout slightly in favor of Canelo, he has a MASSIVE payday in front of him if he can win… This is going to be a GREAT card!!

Posted February 16, 2013 11:25 am

SREDMOND

Anyone overestimating Trout is clearly on the bandwagon… He is a very solid boxer buts he’s FAR from a master boxer he is big at Jr MW which works well for him (Cotto is a small Jr MW) Trout did not look like anyone’s world beater against Delvin Rodriguez who has 5 losses…I like Trout but if you think he has more skill than Floyd you’re crazy, he is naturally bigger he may fight at 160 one day it would not be a big leap…

Anybody pointing to the match were Trout beat Canelo’s brother as an indication of what is going to happen in this fight is bias or ignorant. Canelo is twice the fighter of any of his brothers.

You guys really don’t understand. Guerreo is a tuff tuff fight even for Mayweather. Infact, I see him tuffer than Pacquio in most every area accept the one punch knockout power. You could def say speed 2 but that would be nullified by floyds understanding of range. 2 more thoughts; the Alexander tweet was maybe Mayweather trying to avoid one of the most serious tests in the Ghost and Money seems preoccupied or nervous in all the pics I see of him. The Ghost is the hungriest fighter that Money has faced in a long time and I think Money knows it. It will be a different fight. Robert comes to win and he will put hands on Floyd w his long reach and not just fight in spurts I.e. Cotto. Money knows this so I’m wondering wats up w all u boxing sages on here… James B in KC

…let’s wait to see who actually walks into the ring opposite canelo. bet you it’ll be a replacement within weeks or even a month before the fight. and then it will be with a very old, washed up jr middle, or blown up lightweight or superlightweight. i’d love to see trout, but it doesn’t fit into canelo’s steady diet of washed up or blown up b-level type guys. it’s not like him to take on a threat of this kind.

Posted February 15, 2013 10:35 pm

Pete Rivera

It seems that Pretty Boy Floyd is more concerned with keeping his record untarnished rather than fight the top echelon opponents’. Mayweather has been a fantastic self-promoter and actually is a great fighter. However, based on who he is fighting there is very little doubt that he is not about to prove anything. Why should he? He is all about making money off the smaller, slower, washed up and often battered stepping stones. There is little doubt that either Canelo or Trout would be a better opponent. I believe Trout would beat him over 12 rounds. With Canelo he would be out of there within 8 rounds. Mayweather chooses his foes based on their beat ability and Guerrero is a 10.
