The fight was horrible on paper, we all knew it would be a snorebore 12 rounds. Sure enough that’s what we got. I switched to NBC Sports and was pleased with Algieri fight. Dude threw an average 108 punches per round and was a firecracker in there. The better card was on free TV, the Showtime card sucked balls. Only reason they bought it is to give a TV spot to a fighter who’s with Mayweather, who they’d obv been negotiating with awhile.

That is why all you need to do is recognize the Ring Belt as the Championship belt. The titles, yes are annoying but they do get the fighters paid a bit more money and it also openes up challenges with other fighters sometimes. I definitely don’t like them but we also need them so these fighters can get better paychecks. And I am talking about the fighters that don’t have power house promoters or those who are not with Al Haymon

The fighters should boycott the sanctioning bodies. All the sanctioning bodies do is steal money from the fighters with their bs fees. Having 4 belts per division is bad enough but when you add in crap like the regular and super champ, or the diamond champ or whatever its just insane. The fighters could just use the ring magazine belt, lol I don’t think ring magazine issues sanctioning fees. The only problem is that if I’m not mistaken ring is tied in with GBP.

Ishe is a good fighter and the fight was terrible because of Bundrage. You can’t cut off the ring when the guy is running that much. And Burdrage with all that bark did nothing to show he had any bite. I am glad that Ishe won and I am glad that Bundrage lost because I was tired of hearing his dumb barking when being interviewed

He beat Spinks to become a titles, Budrage was never a champion only a titlest and Smith is now a titlest. There is no champt at 154. We will see what happens with Trout vs Canelo. That will unify 2 belts and depending on where they are ranked will determine if we will have a 154lb champ.

stupid loser

congrats to Smith. Anyone know what the purse was being on Showtime?

But one does question the value of the IBF. They should have billed this as the Contender Title

I would like to know how in the hell K 9 Bundrage became a world Champion , he is a terrible fighter ,his technique is horrible ,,he has only strength going for him ,,but i guess anyone can become a champion now a days ,with all the different organizations representing world titles ,,look at Canelo Alvarez anther fighter that should not be a champion ..

Looks like Show Time is trying very hard to please Floyd Mayweather , by having fighters that fight for his promotion co. T M T ,,fight on Show Time ,, Both fights were lousy ,,Bundrage is a terrible fighter ,he only has strength ,thats all ..both fights should have been on ESPN Friday night fights ..

scott should have won that fight . bad decisions ruin boxing . there are some intresting fights at heavyweight between a few americans hw . but there afraid a loss will put them out of title contention and its to bad because it would only prepare them if they get a title shot and bring intrest back for the heavies in america . the big guys have ko power .jenning ,scott , arreaoa banks wilder cunninham thompson mix and match them

Lee: It’s not any worse than Manny fighting Margarito at a catch-weight off a layoff and knockout loss and one bout back against a lower level tuneup for a vacant title at 154.

PERJ

Ishe is now a titlest. Only belt you need to worry about is the Ring belt. That’s how you know who the real champ is. At 154 there isn’t one. But still a good win for Ishe. He just needs to be a little busier

What a joke two journeyman fighting for a belt. Fights like this makes the belts worthless. We need to go back to 1 belt for each weight class.

this wasn’t Marquez v. Pacquiao* or even Rios v. Alvarado but it was a solid Friday Night Fight caliber fight-card. i can also see the logic and strategy of generating more east-coast passion for the fight-game in places like Brooklyn and D.C. and this is the best they’ve got. nonetheless, both of these emerging fight-towns have become destinations for this fight-fan. meanwhile, Ishe definitely earned the emotional win but the post-fight bawling was a bit much. One person’s epic-journey doesn’t always translate into universal consciousness and has the opposite effect when it threatens to drag me into Ishe’s world and out of the fight-card that i tuned-in for.

Only rounds glaskov won, 3 at the very most, was due to Scott inactivity.

algeri may never become elite fighter but he stilll pretty good and entertaining to watch especially for a guy that use to kickbox peralta wasn no slouch he was pretty tough and algeri handle pretty well he got caught and stun a few times but he came back strong in the later rounds and take over the fight he mix it up well going to the body throwing uppercuts and hooks he might not be a elite fighter but he had a good showing on his first time being on tv

Go thru what fighters go thru, especially the rocky road smith went down, and then to earn a legit belt…smith earned the right to cry all he wants!!

Luke – Floyd is not nearly the bad guy people try to make him out to be. He’s just a man who makes his own decisions and doesn’t let other people pressure him into doing something he doesn’t want to do, not even his own father.

J.C – I agree with you. I have no problem with a grown man showing emotion and crying, especially after that man fell into a deep depression and was very close to killing himself. I’m happy Ishe Smith fulfilled his dream of becoming a champion before his boxing career was over.

Never a big fan of Floyd’s…done his share of bone-headed stuff, but I gotta stay, his stock is rising…offered to pay for the funerals of fallen fighters…now going to bat for his best sparring partner and getting him a title fight….props to Floyd!! Props to Floyd!! And props to smith!!

maby if you had ever won a world title you might cry a little to. but thats not a problem you will ever have right.why not just be happy for the guy, or say nothing.

I believe most people can agree that the biggest fight was Thompson shocking David Price, whom the British was building up as the successor to Lennox Lewis. This David Price is nowhere near as elite as the Pitcher with the same name… look him up.

Don’t know how k9 had a strap, but he did. If u gotta a strap, to a degree, u r marketable.

I agree with Sredmond. Terrible event. NBC had better fights. Algieri vs. Perolta was a great fight — although I don’t think Algeri will become an elite fighter unless he improves his defense. Algeri got caught way too many times by a guy with only 10 fights. And Malik Scott looked good in a draw against a highly touted big punching Ukranian fighter. Overall a good night for boxing.

Who wants to see Bundrage? His technique
Is terrible!!! Smiths not much to watch either but he got his “W”… The crying was nauseating

Bad night for Showtime. Good night for NBC. Smith vs. Bundrage was a terrible fight. Algeri vs. Perolta was great. Two young fighters with potential and Malik Scott looked good in a draw against Ukrainian. Overall, boxing is a having a solid year. Let’s see what happens with Garcia vs. Judah and other upcoming fights. But — other than Smith vs. Bundrage — we are off to a solid start.

Wow! Forget what I said about the idea of Mayweather fighting Bundrage. Pathetic. Lost to Smith?
