Quote: For those who don’t remember, BALCO was at the center of the mid-00’s performance enhancing drug scandal. It’s where a number of top athletes, including Barry Bonds, Marion Jones, Shane Mosley and others were alleged to have received steroids and other performance enhancing drugs. For most of these athletes, the story has been that they were duped by Conte and thought they were taking legal supplements: Quote Unquote. I mean, if you are doped, headbuts and holds, you can become champion, like fx Andre Ward. Remember God is against cheating.

Kessler beating Greene and Froch beating Taylor don’t begin to compare with the victories that Ward has booked during his tenure at SMW… Both fighters were damaged boxers who had already been defeated by lessor boxers…Taylor was TERRIBLE at SMW he got knocked out 2x in that division and I believe he has dropped down… Leading up to Pavlik knocking him out the first time he was struggling with guys who were best at 154 like Ouma, Corey Spinks and Winky Wright…Allan Greene was a guy with a big punch and mediocre execution in the ring, he was knocked out by an ANCIENT Glen Johnson who is not exactly known for his punching power… Trying to sell Kessler and Froch off of those two guys is pretty weak, Sakio Bika could have taken either man…

Enough Already !

It’s amazing to see how boxing groupies live in the past. Andre Ward is great boxer, who won the super six and I welcome him back !
That’s all there. Enough with Cazalghe crapology.

stupid loser

I like Ward, headbutt or not. “Willingly” taken on the best in the division and beat them in good fashion. Does he have big power and all the perfect attributes, no, but he has an attitude boxing needs more of. With all the crap in boxing, and the BS from the “so called best ever” boxers of today, Ward is a bright spot for boxing. Cant wait to see him fight again.

I am no Calzaghe fan, but there is no way Ward hangs with Calzaghe, in his prime. I recognize Andre as a fine technical fighter, who has not really been hit by a big bomb, like the one Kessler put on Green, or Froch put on Tailor, Even Mayweather has taken some bombs lately (Cotto fx) because people are on to his style. Protected fighter clings to Wards name, I hope he comes back from injury, and shows me wrong. And lets hope Andre has stopped working with Victor Conte, a dope cheat of the worst kind.

Wards undefeated and Calzaghes ghost is not gonna change that nor undermine Ward to be honest Calzaghe has largely receded from memory because he fought big name fighters too late Ward has blown out the BEST in his division and the TOP LHW, a guy in his prime NOT 43….Its Wards time and Calzaghes legacy is not tainting Wards in the slightest…

Ward can fight, but if he thinks he needs to use the rough house headbutt tatics he will, that would not of worked against Calzaghe, he will see him for that and beat him up.

Calzaghe would tee off on him, knock him senseless with the fast punches, he knows Wards game, Calzaghe beats all styles and fights with all styles.

Ahhhhh the Ward haters are out in full force trying to post their men’s way to Greatness when it’s impossible because the Great SOG who has now exceeded Pacquiao on the P4P list has cleaned out the division knocked out the top LHW with ease and he is coming back to continue his uninterrupted reign of terror while his detractors and excuse mongers QUAKE in their boots!! Ward has come out of the gate BETTER than Calzaghe who never beat this level of prime opposition in rapid succession, mentioning current SMW’s alongside SOG is doing them a GRAVE disservice… They don’t RATE!

It is true that Ward was working with Victor Conte (BALCO) up to the Kessler fight, but it doesn’t mean he doped, it is true that Wards shoulder may never be the same, but there is a good chance it will, it is true that Mayweather is a worldclass boxer, and that you can’t mention Ward in the same sentence as Mayweather, who can actually hit hard, and has ring Iq. Good luck to Andre though, things will not be so easy for him, in the future. Clearly the winner of Froch vs Kessler 2 will not go to Oakland, and both are on to Wards style now, I wonder if there is any interesting fight for Ward, besides Kessler.

Andre Ward, won the super six, most fights in his hometown, final in wherever, how is that allowed, what happened there, all the other fighters had to fight away, Ward was never going to fight away in that tourney, rip off.

Regarding venues: How about getting back to nuetral ground? Think back to Ali/Bugner(Kuala Lumpur), Ali/Dunn(Munich), Ali/Foreman(Kinshasa), Burns/Johnson(Sydney) ECT. Real champions travel & if they don’t wanna take a chance in another fighers country then this is the solution. India, China, Abu Dabi & Germany all seem to have plenty of money + some great venues, so how about it? It’s TV that’s makes the real money, not ticket sales.

He would of took Ward apart, if he tried that head stuff, it would be windmill punching all the way, until he got him out of there, like Byron Mitchell.

Fight

Calz would have been SCHOOLED by Ward if they met prime for prime. In the end it wouldn’t have been that much different than it was for Froch and Kessler. He would have been frustrated and defeated. Let’s see.. Joe .. no strength advantage, no speed advantage, no elusiveness, less athleticism, struggled with straight out bums (Starie, Salem) and struggled with Bika (a poorer version than the one today) Brewer, Kessler (whereas versus Ward, Mikkel needed an exit on cuts or he was leaving in the very next round – horizontal – he was done and effectively dominated), barely beat a last minute weight cutting Eubank coming down from prep for a LHW fight, and was dismal against a sixty year old Bernard Hopkins. Joe was one of the best ever at SMW – because it was a second rate division for most of its short history and particularly from the late 90s on. That said, no shame in knowing he would have been beaten ten out of ten if he had had the misfortune of either being in Ward’s era or hanging around a few more years to get humiliated and embarrassed as a fighter near the end meeting a guy who is still not yet at his peak.

Calz is a bit of the nationalistic play. When there are few exceptional fighters from some place and one appears that is at least decent all of his limitations are ignored (i.e., physical, talent, career cherry picking, always needing the promotion and the benefits that accrue regarding refs and judges) and his “wins” receive more attention than the nature of them and the opponents faced. Clearly there is a fair bit of desire to believe that one of our own is untouchable at something. Believe me, if that were really true most would be thrilled by that. But sort of like a unicorn, finding it has proven to be impossible since the color line was broken in sports. Joe is the 100 meter guy who runs ten flat. It is a good time but it can never be considered extraordinary. Maybe someday there will be a “light”ning Bolt. So far it is just a dream. Just get board with Ward as that is about the only way to get there .. half a step. Without it, you simply can’t find an extraordinary combination of speed, athleticism, and ability. You merely get another guy running 10.0 or 10.1 and never 9.5.

Why always all the trashing. :P I’m not much for Ward but it’s good to see he’s getting back to boxing. Froch vs Kessler is a match that has always been out there waiting, so I don’t see any reason for all the whining about that. :P I’m sure both Kessler and froch wish to fight Ward Again. :P
