Exactly, exactly. Margarito was a B class fighter, but he did not run from nobody, never quit. Mosley hit him on the backhead several times and use dirty tactics all the time. In fact, Mosley ko margarito with hits to the head, non to the face or the jaw. Did anybody complains? No.

How about you beat someone who’s at least a high #0 P4P before challenging the guys at the top of the list. Better yet how about you at least beat a World CHAMP first. You should have taken the Bundrage Fight.

How about the original glove stuffer and Sinaloa carter associate? Julio Cesar Chavez.

The Best!

And gave Mayweather the best fight TO DATE!!! Making Mayweather ( the untouchable to some) a bloody nose… and ya’ll think Canela loses to Cotto…
You must of slipped and bangged your head, from what i recall Mayweather won that fight against Cotto. Now on the other hand, Mayweather got a gift against Castillo. I am a fan of Cotto more than Canelo because Cotto doesnt duck anyone but i honestly think Canelo would stop Cotto, I think he is too young and hungry and would hammer him.

Not sure if Alvarez calling these guys out is real or not. In Lopez he’s facing a blown up jr welterweight. Big jump from him to the likes of Pac, Floyd and Cotto.

like i said, it’s one-on-one in a boxing ring. Mexico’s numerical advantage becomes an non-factor in a boxing ring. in fact, the numerical advantage only makes it harder for Mexican fighters to develop into legitimate title-contenders, i.e., Mexican fighters are little fish who have to survive and fully develop among an ocean of competitors. PR fighters are little fish who only have to leap out of their tiny pond. IMO, the difference shows when they finally face each other in a boxing ring.

Btw, there isn’t a good or great PR fighter that hasn’t experienced a career-defining BeatDown at the fists of their Mexican counterparts, e.g., Gomez, Rosario, Camacho, Cotto, Calderon, Vasquez Jr., Lopez, and frequently in PR if not their hometown. also, spare us the “tiny island” hype. it’s One-on-One in a boxing ring. meanwhile and IMO, PR has produced only three truly great fighters: Ortiz, Gomez, and Camacho. accordingly, “sorry’ if the entire west coast remains unimpressed.

Zurdo without the wraps Margo has no power there was nothing for Cotto to be scared of. The doctors saved Margo from taking extra unnecessary damage the fight was over. And yes Morales has been through many wars so I’ll leave him out of this. Theres no Puerto Rican fighter thats even close to suspected of cheating and that tiny island has produced some real good fighters.

meanwhile, i have no interest in a 154lb Mayweather. his P4P skills and ring-smarts enable him to win but it’s primarily by exploiting flaws in his opponent rather than imposing his will like he has v. every opponent under 154lbs.

Miate he might stop Cotto because hes much bigger but Cotto might box his head into his neck. Pac will khtfo because hes to easy to hit and Floyd will shoulder roll him all night to a shut out win. Btw these r all midgets compared to him.

Posted August 30, 2012 1:20 pm

Daly what u call running was great boxing and ring generalship. Cotto was ripping Margo up with jabs, lefthooks and right crosses. And Floyd chose the perfect fighter to take easy on the guy who bloodied his nose, gave him a mouse under his left eye and ripped him with bodyshots all night. He shouldve picked someone else to take it “easy on” instead of the best fighter he ever fought.

He’ll fight Cotto and stop him in 6 rounds, Pacquiao will demand the fight at 145 pounds and Mayweather will never fight him cause he’s not shop worn, over 37 and he’s not a 135 or 140 pounder calling him out.

REM What kind of idiot are you? Cotto is a good fighter, but Cotto raped Margo??? What kind of fight did you see??? Who was praying the fight were stopped??? Who was clinchin ??? Cotto was heading the scorecards, but Cotto was afraid did not margarito. Cotto is a good figther but not cause fear, even Maywather choose trade with him and not with the smaller JM Marquez. Even Maywather accept that to ESPN. And about Garcia-Morales?? Morales has more wars than all your puerto rican fighters together, despite that, he almost ko Garcia in round 10, and ask Garcia about his face after Morales fight.
did hurt you the history between pr fighters and mexican fighters i already knew that.

Posted August 30, 2012 10:28 am

Zurdo what kind of moron r u. Since u want to make it a race thing Cotto just raped Margo without hand wraps and Garcia is about to pimp slap Morales again. I like Mexican fighters but right now u got a bunch of pretenders. Alvarez would get spanked by Lara and Chavez is about to get schooled. You wish Mexico had a fighter in Cottos caliber right now.

flash knock down

Okay this is is what killing boxing guys guys like Canelo who have done nothing but the media is helping the promoters push these guys on us. I hate catch weight fights Canelo will win this fight no secret there so why would I want to spend my money on a fixed fight and that is what these type of fights are fixed. Lopez is a great kid he got lucky when he fought whack a do Ortiz because no one knows what he is going to do in a fight. Make the most money for the least risk that is the name of this game now not fighting the best to be the best.

Posted August 30, 2012 10:00 am

Zurdo40

And, by the way, if Floyd fought like a MARIQUITA (little sissy) against the very very smaller JM Marquez (39 now), even with a GREAT WEIGHT ADVANTAGE, the same that all of you complains use CHAVEZ JR and Canelo. How do you believe Floyd will Fight against Canelo or JR? Through CELL PHONE may be????

Posted August 30, 2012 9:21 am

Zurdo40

I believe all puerto rican fighters are on peds. Anyway that s did not save them from receive beatings from mexican fighters. Rosario, Camacho, Cotto, Nene Sanchez, JM Lopez, Wilfredo Gomez, Angel Hernandez, Vazquez, Vazquez Jr. Calderon, Samuel Fuentes, etc. Some of those beatings were in their same backyard. Thats history and does not change.

love-the-sport

This is a bad fight. It is a bad fight for boxing. It is a bad fight for Alvarez. It is a bad fight for Lopez. If Alvarez wins big — boxing fans will say he is beating up a smaller fighter. If Alvarez loses — boxing fans will say he is losing to a smaller fighter. Lopez takes a huge risk coming in to a fight with Alvarez who will probably weigh close to 175 or 180 on fight night. Lopez should have gone back to 140 lbs and cleaned up the division where he could get impressive wins and big fights against Maidana, Morales, Peterson, Garcia, and Khan. Lopez would be great against all of those guys and then work his way up to 147 — where he was tough and gritty against Ortiz. This way to big a jump in weight and stupid against a heavy Alvarez. Boxing would love a tough fighter like Lopez fighting great fights at 140 and 147. And boxing would love to see Alvarez fight the quality fights at 154 and 160. Sturm, Macklin, Kirkland, and others would be great opponents for Alvarez. This is a high risk low reward fight for everybody involved. Bad management. Bad promotion.

WEAK this is boxings next big thing calling out wws and fighting a career jww his next fight. My boy Lara will tear this kid up. U got dudes like Ward and Dawson who r about to put on fight of the year but they get no hype smh. This is whats wrong with boxing the best arent properly reconized and the hype certain looks and characters this is sad.

This fight is a joke, the betting odds tell you all you need to know. Alvarez is 1/5 to knock this kid out hahahaha!

This crap of accusing any fighter you don’t like of juicing is getting seriously tedious now. Firstly, in any sport you only have to adhere to the rules of that sport; boxing doesn’t conduct olympic style testing so people could get away with using natural hormones, accept it. If boxing wanted to outlaw this (and bear in mind that many sports openly allow it) then they could introduce testing. Likewise the fact that the Texas commission don’t seem to want to drug test Chavez and that he’s probably using diuretics, well if you have a problem with it then you as his opponent neet to stipulate testing in the contract or even better, don’t fight in Texas. “Seriously, look at his physique” is not a valid reason to accuse any fighter of anything. Jesus, you EXPECT the Mayweather family to come out with this kind of crap but it’s not like we all have to sink to that level.

Fisrt he has to past Josesito and I am betting that he will not. Josesito will put pressure on him and has the power to knock him out. he will be exposed on 15 sep.

Insider- you make it sound like its insane or out of this world to believe Canelo can hand Cotto his ass to him..Lol! What the hell are you sniffing..Alvarez hasn’t faced the so called top guys at 154lbs yet but he obviously knows how to box pretty good and put his punches together well..add youth, size, strength and power and I say the kid whoops Cotto if and when they ever fight..

Posted August 30, 2012 4:33 am

Dan D has it right. Notice that BOTH Canelo and Chavez JR have both gotten to the top without facing REAL opposition. Now Im not talking bout them bums they fight weekly in Mexico! I’m talking about ranked righters. They both got given belts.
On the other hand, they are BOTH juicing. Dude, its simple, look at their physiques! Chavez Jr in less than 3 years BLEW UP! So much so he cant even make weight and steps up to the ring weighing 181lbs fight night EVERYTIME and EVERYTIME there’s an issue with TESTING. And why have we all forgotten he got caught JUICING in the Pac-Cotto undercard!!!! All he got was a slap in the wrist and got put under the rug and NO ONE talks bout it EVER!!!
Canela has fought …. hummm, Oh yeah, 40yr old Mosley  Yeah that was a true competitive fight…And some of ya’ll got him beating Cotto??? Seriously? Cotto handed Mosley’s ass when he was STILL Mosley!!! Schooled him.
He gave Pac a beating, even though he did lose (But can some one look at how Pac looked at the end of the fight-plus we all know PAc juices, but..) And gave Mayweather the best fight TO DATE!!! Making Mayweather ( the untouchable to some) a bloody nose… and ya’ll think Canela loses to Cotto…
Ya’ll seriously need to get off the monitors and start watching these fight tapes!!!!

I honestly fear Cotto will lose to Canelo… and Pac probably too… Pac is too small IMO… and Arum ain’t dumb to put Pac in a risky fight like that that is not IN HOUSE… But if Canelo faces Cotto.. I got Canelo winning…

Posted August 30, 2012 2:22 am

Dan D

Im not buying this guy. Alvarez and Chavez Jr have both got there hands on green belts without having a decent name on their record but at least Jr has finally agreed to step up and fight Martinez. Just hope he gets properly tested this time around. It is time for Alvarez to have a true fight next time out. Cotto should be the one.

The Mad Scientist

If Canelo has the fan base and the popularity to demand fights against Cotto, Pacquiao or Mayweather than I say let him step up..if all you haters really believe any of those 3 can KTFO of Canelo, school him, beat him down or retire him well let them do it..Kid Cinnamon is a work in process who hasn’t fully peaked yet but still good enough with size and strenght to hand Cotto and Pacquiao their asses to them IMO..

Posted August 30, 2012 2:10 am

Peej

what makes you think that he is juicing? I am not saying he does not need to step up the comp but he is learning on the job. Now it wouldn’t be such a big deal if he didn’t have the WBC title given to him. But he is not ready for Pac or Floyd no matter if he has way more fights than Floyd or not. I would like to see him fight Cotto though

Posted August 30, 2012 1:39 am

i believe all fighters from mexico are juicing they have been doing it for years.

Posted August 30, 2012 1:25 am

IF…IF he gets passed Josesito… Canela lacks defense. Jose Cotto almost knocked his ass out. He aint ready for a the real Cotto. Even with all the ring wear, Cotto wins. Too much experience! Pac makes him look like an idiot and MAyweather retires his ass…keep dreaming boi…
Besides He’s juicing, you can tell. They want to make him the next Golden Boy superstar at any cost since boxing is deteriorating.

Posted August 30, 2012 1:04 am

Ike

Ya but he’s fighting a guy who has only fought once over 140 lbs. Josesito showed a lot of balls versus Ortiz, but fighting a guy as strong and powerful as Canelo at 154 lbs will simply be too much. I like Canelo to win via a late stoppage. I think he is ready for Cotto and Mayweather.
