Any competent ref would have stopped in fight in rounds 1, 2, 6 and 12. That was Bradley’s second gift win in a row. If Tim is such a great WW why won’t Monkey-Mayweather fight him to unify?

On Planet earth Bradley booked a VERY deserved win that he had to fight HARD for, yeah sure why not say he should have had 8 10-8 rounds against him? make the story more interesting be aggressive… Get over it Provodnikov LOST despite a determined ever, its back to sparring for him…

The ref did and terrible job officiating that fight. It should have been scored with three 10-8 rounds for Ruslan. And overrated Bradley got smashed and took his second loss in a row.

always enjoyed watching provod on espn…..although crude….he’s a fighter with good power and his fights always have action….don’t know how long he’ll last with that style but he gave a good account of himself in a fight with a real good fighter, bradley

Great fight, can’t wait to see both guys in the ring again against anyone, especially each other. If they fight again, Bradley will most likely fight smarter and stick to boxing instead of slugging.Possibly get a late round stoppage. Great fight. Definately FOTY so far!

Wow!!! A prizefighter got hurt in the ring!! Wbho knew that could happen I thought this was fencing silly me… Ruslan most definitely put some hurt on Bradley and Bradley put some HURT on him thats why Roach was considering pulling the plug, Ruslan did not do enough to win, he had his opportunities to knock Bradley out and he failed, then he pissed away rounds and spent too much time loading up for the homerun that NEVER came, he it some sweet doubles and triples but failed to close the show…It was a hell of a fight and both guys deserve credit for exhibiting some serious courage but the right man got the nod….PERIOD

Great fight. Kudos to both men. I thought Provodnikov would be easy for Bradley, but he walked through some great shots and got to the champion. Bradley was classy in victory, making no excuses for a hard fight but praising the opponent. This was a good show all around.

There goes Haterdalgo hating again but SO WHAT. I was entertained!! GOOD Fight to Bradley and Provodnikov!!! Both are TRUE Warriors!!

Yeah I think his jaw broke also, he was mumbling in the post fight interview and I saw a video of him getting into the ambulance and he was mumbling when he was talking

“but i don’t see Provodnikov learning the finer points of Boxing from Roach.” On the contrary te tumbo, I thought Roach did a fine job with Provodnikov. He didn’t throw in the towel, for one thing, and as a result Ruslan almost got himself an incredible win. I’m certain that Roach and Provodnikov learned as much from that fight as Diaz and Bradley did. Both trainers exhorted their fighters to do as they told them but both Ruslan and Timothy often did not. As a result they both got beat up. But really, I think Roach did a fine job as did Joel Diaz.

“These guys will both be brain damaged and helpless when their careers are over…” HecDog, I think Prov broke Bradley’s jaw. We’ll find out in the next few days. But if Bradley did get a concussion, that says a lot about not only how powerful Provodnikov is but how many times he hit Bradley in the head and face.

“I was entertained!!” Whoopee doo! You’re entertained by water dripping out of a sponge. Oh Braggadamus, you’re such a kumquat!

I had it 115-112 for Bradley. Had the knockdown/slip counted, 114-112.
Great fight though.

I am really still in shock I am saying I loved a Tim Bradley fight, but that was a hell of a scrap. This wasn’t a bad call like when Ruslan lost to Herrera (who isn’t Ruslan’s league and would be out in two rounds if they fought now). If Bradley fought with his fists rather than than giant melon he calls a head more often, he would see that Home Depot Center packed tight instead of near empty two or three fights down the road.

Great highlights reel i just watched. From what i saw there it looks like an ageing fight for Bradley. He does’nt want anymore of these! thats for sure

Tomato Can, great assessment. Roach for me is one of the most dangerous trainers out there. He won’t be happy until one of fighters has a name tag hanging off his toe.
Ruslan can come back from this fight, but like you say, he needs someone to polish off some rough edges. He also needs some conditioning, learn to work a round for 12rnds.
Hat off to Bradley, he stood up. Both left it all in the ring, great fight!

Ruslan also showed heart, he also showed a serious lack of defense but he did show lots of heart. But to comment on the if there was 10 more seconds he would have the belt, well if the queen had balls shed be the king. If there was, would of could of means nothing. If Ruslan would of thrown more punches like he did the first 2 rounds and the last 2 rounds he would of been the title holder but he didn’t and Bradley retained

Posted March 17, 2013 2:48 pm

te tumbo

Ruslan had 8 more rounds to follow-up on the first two but was expertly handled by Bradley for spells long enough to lose on the scorecards. Mayweather or Marquez would’ve punched Bradley’s button in similar situations but Provodnikov is no Mayweather or Marquez and ultimately not good enough to defeat Bradley either, but there is room for improvement. but i don’t see Provodnikov learning the finer points of Boxing from Roach.

Darn good fight. If people on here who are douches wanted Bradley to fight better then it would be boring tactical , skillful, borefest like last week Bernard Hopkins stall and hold fight. No thanks. BE HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU GOT PEOPLE THAT WAS A DAMN GOOD FIGHT

Hbo’s microphone lip flappers are waaaaay too bias. “Bradley Bradley Bradley…Bradley can take a punch…Bradley has heart…They don’t call him desert storm for nothing!”. I give credit to Bradley and i wanted him to win…but what about the other guy? That’s the guy who can take a punch!! 10 more seconds and he’d have the belt now.

Tomato Can, ha-ha – I was thinking the exact same thing when RJJ said “he can not KO Bradley”.

Agreed on the Jones Jr. analysis, but remember he’s taken quite a few punches himself. When he was saying Provodnikov couldn’t hurt Bradley anymore, I was expecting Bradley to get KTFO cold. lol… I also agree, that Ruslan needs to part ways with Roach, he needs to round out his skills, Roach isn’t going to help him do that.

The Prince, well said regarding the fight and commentary. HBO commentary has never done well in staying unbiased when calling fights.

Posted March 17, 2013 1:22 pm

te tumbo

Yep. Jones’ commentary frequently sounded oblivious during last night’s bout. even with Kellerman trying to gently nudge him back to reality, Junior insisted on insinuating his ring-creds to set the tone for the fight, which was something like “Provodivutaykif or whatever his name is, can’t[?] hurt Bradley no mo. Take it from me. I Know”(?). anyway, Provo risks becoming another Katsidis if he doesn’t improve his technique, which should mean “so-long” to Roach. otherwise, THIS is what Roach thoroughly prepares his fighters for featuring a final-round(s) exhortation of “I want you to knock this guy out . . . I need you to put this guy on his ass . . .” Ruslan should think wisely about his future because it has arrived.

Posted March 17, 2013 1:15 pm

The Prince

Bradley showed what people have forgotten about him. He’s a soldier ready for war in the boxing ring, He keeps himself in perfect health and he has the determination of a lion. If you don’t give him credit after such a gutsy and risky performance – one he didn’t have to take – then you’re just being a biased hater. Provodnikov dropped the ball when he took round three off and let Bradley establish a boxing game plan. He should have continued the attack. I believe he was even surprised how Bradley wouldn’t fall, like Kellerman pointed out during that round. Sadly, HBO reminded me why Showtime is now the frontrunner network with the bad commentary by Roy Jones Jr. and I respect Roy Jones as a fighter and a boxing personality. He needs to be more professional when calling fights, but Lampley and even Kellerman have been guilty of the same thing in the past. It’s not just him.

Lot of haters on here. Octavius knows whats up. Give credit where credit is due. Bradley showed the heart of a warrior and when he was hurt HE FOUGHT EVEN HARDER. Props to both fighters!

Boxing is based on scoring and if you go into a fight with your only game plan a one punch KO odds are you will lose the fight. if I hit you 20 times and you only hit me 2 even thought they were good shots you don’t win the round. Does not matter if I’m wobbled or not my 20 shots will always win the round. Great fight but Provo needs to work on speed, movement, foot work, etc if he wants to go far. Power is great but being a heavy bag with eye balls will always make Provo a durable stepping stone never a champion.

Would any of you like Bradley fight like Ward or Bernard Borekins making for another boring sleeper of a fight. Quit doggying Bradley on skills. That was a exciting barn burner fight ! After decades of the Euro drought in boxing, it’s nice to see so many strong Euro fighters that the sport has today. It’s too bad much of it is spoiled to to piss poor Euro fans with a chip on thier shoulder. But then again, it’ll make it more fun watching them lose.

Posted March 17, 2013 12:02 pm

The 114-113 scores were on the mark. The judges had the fight close, just like it was. Bradley should never fight Ruslan again though, cause he’ll probably get stopped if there’s a next time.

Bradley won the decision, and I have no complaint about it. But Provodnikov won the fight, IMO.

I strongly suspect that foul smelling pikey mick who calls himself ‘Traveller’ is really no other than heavyweight contender Tyson Fury! He has to jump on the bandwagon for Russian fighters since fighters from Ireland like Andy Lee and John Duddy are bums.

Bradley’s effective jabbing gave Provodnikov an excuse to take rounds off and waste time tryng to Only exploit Bradley’s jab with his big right. Points Bradley. he took those rounds. otherwise, Provodnikov was most successful when he applied his own brutal and effective pressure, which Bradley could simply not resist or discourage with his average punching power. every time Provodnikov waded in Bradley would plant himself and exchange and usually to his disadvantage. 7 not 5 rounds of that and Provodnikov would’ve also been awarded the scorecards and not only the fight.

Posted March 17, 2013 11:24 am

And yeah based on the round by round scoring Bradley won but Ruslan did whoop that ass. Lol

Posted March 17, 2013 11:08 am

Testing was done by both USDA and VADA so I don’t think anybody was doped up. That was not a bad decision. Ruslan lowered his punch output which cost thin the fight. This had nothing do do with biased commentary or home town decision. It was a close fight with Bradley being the deserved winner

Posted March 17, 2013 11:04 am

I didn’t appreciate Roy Jones Jr.’s comment regarding Provodnikov stating: “Whatever his name is.” Not all of us have easy names like “Jones.” Provodnikov deserved more respect after the effort he put forward. If Jones (or whatever his name is) wants to be a sports announcer, he should take 2 minutes to learn the correct names of the fighters he’s covering. That may be difficult for Roy, but that’s what he gets paid for.

Posted March 17, 2013 11:02 am

Problem is Ruslan stopped punching in the middle rounds and Bradley was peppering him with CMOS. Ruslan lost this fight himself. When he came forward and threw punches like he did in the first 2 rounds then again in the 6th and then again in the 11 and 12 rounds he was effective. Unfortunately the I thought Bradley won the 11. Now if thy would of scored the knockdown in the first or second round then I could of seen a draw or maybe Ruslan winning but the didn’t.

Posted March 17, 2013 10:55 am

Does not matter if you throw more punches. It’s called effective aggression. You can throw all the punches you want but if they don’t land then you are not being effective

I understand that some fans are saying that 1st and 2nd should also be scored a 10-8 but I disagree because Bradley was dominating the 1st round for the first 2 minutes and he was also landing some heavy shots in the 2nd. There’s a case for a stoppage in the 2nd and 6th because Bradley took a serious beating, especially the 2nd.

This fight will be the fight of the year because of the sheer drama, especially the ending. This reminded me of a Rocky movie. Great fight for old time fight fans.

Posted March 17, 2013 10:17 am

Bradley was saved by the bell in both 1st and 12th round. If there was an extra 30 seconds the fight was have been finished. I totally admire Bradley; the guy has so much heart and it’s rare to see a fighter like him in this generation. FLOYD “CHERRYPICKER” MAYWEATHER SHOULD TAKE NOTE OF BRADLEY’S PERFORMANCE.
The referee should have ruled the 1st round a knockdown. If it was a slip, as the referee said, why did Bradley do the Jab Judah dance?

Posted March 17, 2013 10:16 am

Traveller, I don’t know about being drugged up, but Ruslan revealed a lot of weaknesses in the “Desert Storm.” For one, Bradley flails like a little baby when he tries to “box.” Secondly, Bradley couldn’t knock out a cat. Third, it’s not that hard to take Bradley out of his game. Ruslan did it all night long.

I scored the fight 114-113 Bradley

I gave rounds 3,4,5,7,8,9a and 10 to Bradley.
I gave rounds 1,2,6,11 and 12 to Provodnikov. 12TH was scored 10-8 because of the knockdown.

Bradley will be known as a champion courtesy of gift decisions. With an incompetent third guy in the ring and three blind judges (just like in his fight with Manny), he was clearly beaten by Ruslan, who will never be given a rematch. If there will be one, Ruslan will maul Bradley into retirement.

How much is Bradley going to be given gifts? It was clear as day his ass went down in the 1st and the ref not calling it changed the complexion of the fight.

It’s not that Bradley beat him Ruslusn it’s that he let Bradly beat him! He should have not taken any rounds off get a new trainer and a strength coach!

Great fight. I had Ruslan winning by 1 point. A draw would have been ok, but all three judges giving Bradley the victory is very harsh on Provodnikov.
