This is absolutely FANTASTIC news. I’m ecstatic about it. Not least of all because I resigned myself to admitting Haye deserved serious criticism because of his decision not to force a big fight through his actions. I feel Haye is a criminally underrated fighter and there is more than one reason for that. Of course many despise his brash, arrogant yet articulate demeanour. Many more Klitschko fanatics were very angry and worried about the possibility of their mythical icons being beaten by this upstart. There are also many HW boxing followers you don’t seem to have paid any attention to the cruiserweight division and focus only on his lavishly well paid heavyweight exploits. Haye is a superb boxer. Truly devastating power, brilliant reflexes, intelligence, toughness and what some boxing trainers call the X factor. That special, intangible quality which combines skill and self belief. Freddie Roach, Angelo Dundee and the late great Emmanuel Steward, all said he had it. Anyone who says there is a more ‘talented’, that’s right ‘talented’ NOT more dedicated or hard working heavyweight outisde the Klitschkos other than him is WRONG. Pulev? Fury? Solis? Arreola? NO I rate many of the division’s names, and think the division has been too harshly criticised the past ten years, but Haye is easily the best of the rest. I’ve wanted this comeback soo much because I can’t wait to see Haye against people like; Arreola, Povetkin, Adamek etc. He will make great fights and look mightily impressive.

good . . . he should clean out his backyard. Helenius has nothing to win. Helenius would get schooled. Povetkin has all to lose. Banks may be the only one who might take the fight. It is a win-win for him. Banks is probably the best in USA.

Pulev-Wlad 2013 – Haye-Vitali 2013

Ps you should change your name from Unbiased Dane to biased Dane!!!

Unbiased Dane – the same can be said for Wlad & Valuev!! PS didn’t Haye wabble Valuev?? but the same can’t be said for Valuev… what did he do?? i’d rather watch a haye fight any day of the week than a K-bro fight. And as champions they apparently face better opposition… even Chisora is more exciting than either of the K-brothers. you are just showing your hating. Fact you watch 97% of Hayes fights and they have action!!

Posted March 21, 2013 11:53 am

Unbiased Dane

Was he exciting against Valuev and Wlad ? ‘

Posted March 21, 2013 11:47 am

Haye boring!!! thats the one thing he can’t be called!!

Posted March 21, 2013 11:38 am

Unbiased Dane

SREDMOND: Haye was boring when he fought Valuev and Wlad, he wasnt willing to risk it all even when he knew he need to stop Wladimir. Chisora well he has no punching power.

I am all for a Haye return, as long as Haye doesn’t start off trying to talk himself into another K-Bro fight. Earn it my man. The man is an athletic fighter & can be exciting if he isn’t fighting Goliath. I don’t see a Wlad re-match necessary. Haye won’t take a risk & he can’t outbox the big man.

Posted March 20, 2013 4:08 pm

SREDMOND

Yeah Haye was really boring knocking Chisora cold when Vitali and Helenius could not keep him out of their faces…!!

Posted March 20, 2013 3:56 pm

Red Ryan

Dont want to see Haye fight anyone he is boring..

Posted March 20, 2013 2:21 pm

Enter The Hayemaker

I’ve always wanted to see Haye school Huck. As Haye was undisputed Cruiser champ (reason for Huck to want it) and Huck has debuted at Heavy, we might yet see it…..

Gumboot

Haye is all mouth and no trousers. Talk talk and these fights won’t happen. Moving to a real discussion now.

Posted March 20, 2013 1:56 pm

SREDMOND

Wlad and Haye did NOT make for an exciting fight, you had an overcautious Champion against a SUPER overcautious challenger… But at this point the bar for facing a Klit is SOOOOOOOO low why not? Mormeck, Thompson, Wach and the impending Pianeta are really weak opponents… The sooner Wlad gets in with a decent name the sooner he can stop diluting his legacy these last few defenses have been really troubling in quality….

Unbiased Dane

PEEJ has the beat.
Its really amusing seing some britts on Haye´s bandwagon immediately after rumors about Haye considering to fight his way to a titlefight. Does eny of you consider the possibility that Haye might fight the same over cautious way as he did against Valuev and Wladimir. A lot of running and only 5-6 punches per round.

Red Ryan

Eat you’r humble pie Haye and earn you’r shot…..

Posted March 20, 2013 12:59 pm

Could Haye EVER be worse than the terrible opponents Wlad has been picking off for the past 2 fcking years? He has NOT fought a solid fighter in a LONG time and Tony Thompson had about as much basis for rematching Wlad as I do… He was OLDER, Slower and knocked out more easily… At this point the Klits don’t have much of a standard for opponents after Mormeck and Co it has become comical…

Posted March 20, 2013 12:35 pm

Haye and Fury are good for the sport. They have a certain charm and are comical. Wlad/Vitali ok pure class but we cant all be like them.

Posted March 20, 2013 12:27 pm

K-2- Fan

How many times does Wlad have to BEAT Hayes to prove he has NO chance against the Champ ?! We ALL know , that Hayes NEVER had a chance against Vitaly . He STILL
doesn’t ! Oh yeah , Hayes was NEVER a legit champion at heavyweight ! He was
gifted a phony belt , by a corrupt boxing body ! Just as Povetkin is right now ! I must say however , he does have a unique style ; it’s called flopn’drop ( to his knees ) !

Posted March 20, 2013 11:57 am

he’s probably the only one out there that has a chance to prove that you don’t have to be 6’7″ to be hvwt champion of the world…you just have to be disciplined, have skill and determination

Its going to be an entertaining 2014. Love see’ing all the Haye-haters get all stressed and angry.

lmao … oh i do love it. Such hatred, lol ….. not just for Haye but to his fans and the very country that spawned him. lol. Some guys on ESB really need to chill out. He is only fighter and this is only a sport. Welcome back Haye.

It is easy to dislike Haye, especially after the Klitschko fight, but I would rate him a betting favorite over any of the three opponents mentioned. It is good that he has to earn a title fight though, rather than bluff his way into it.

Finally… if Haye is serious he is probably only 1 fight away from becoming the mandatory for at least one of the boxing orgs. Klit – Haye in 2014 seems very likely all the sudden. Don’t think they like that, because let’s be honest, Haye is one of the very few that can cause the Klits real problems

Posted March 20, 2013 5:49 am

Neil(pomy)

The heavyweight division needs all the characters it can get. Too many heavyweights today have personalities like Evan Drago. Haye-v-Fury would be a laugh.

Posted March 20, 2013 5:03 am

Neil(pomy)

lol excellent … Haye is coming back to annoy his haters lol. I think Haye should fight Ademek first as I think he’d slaughter him. Then go for Povetkin. Haye-v-Povetkin would be a good clash of style but I think Haye would be too sharp and too fast for him.

when larry merchant for hbo said in response to hayes toe excuse that haye doesnt need to take his shoes off, he needs to take his shorts off to reveal the real problem that was an instant CLASSIC line. just PERFECT. larry your so awesome.

Doesn’t matter, this guy only gets fights based on the garbage he talks. He needs to earn his position. Whom has he really beat in the heavyweight division that was ranked, was on a winning streak or that wasn’t coming off a loss? And then with all the talk before the Wlad fight and then after the fight he blames his pinky toe. Really. Please Haye leave the division and retire.

Too many negative posts toward Haye. For a HW boxer just to be as fit and athletic as David Haye is a feat in itself….who else got the reflexes of Haye and Wlad in HW boxing???

I dont remember alot clinching. Just wlad controlling the fight with his jab. Pretty easy fight for him.-

Posted March 19, 2013 8:04 pm

Textbook Hayelord

I gotta hand it to Haye, i never thought he’d work his way back to a Klitschko bout legitimately by fighting contenders like every one else, kudos to you David.

Posted March 19, 2013 6:20 pm

i dont get why people keep knocking haye for dropping to his knees, Wladmir continually clinched and then leant all his weight on Haye which is the oldest trick in the book – i would have done what haye did myself and conserve energy

Posted March 19, 2013 6:18 pm

Dan D

The so called ‘fight’ was Wladimir was a borefest. Pose by Haye with the occasional swing followed by jab, push, clinch by Klitschko. It was a crap fight and I don’t know many fans that would want to see a repeat unless they actually fight this time around. Haye v Povetkin would be good but I can’t see it happening. Povetkin won’t fight a risk opponent.

Lenin

I remember Haye dropping to his knees at least three time like he wanted to offer Vlad a bj. And he was always looking for the ref to help him, because he had just found out that Vlad is just as quick one his feet as he is. And so he put on his running shoes and ran for his life in Safety Pin Johnson mode. But once, just ONCE, he caught Vlad with a really impressive Hayemaker, but “chinny” Vlad took it without flinching, and before and after that Hayemaker Vlad outjabbed Haye easily. One of Vlad’s easier UD fights. End of story: Haye was exposed as an underperforming loudmouth. Haye is a great boxer, though, I admit that, but vs. Vlad after all his badmouthing, he left the ring like a schooled boxing puppy.

top hat

All wlad does is klinch then push people over. What a great fighter, thats if you agree to all his terms and conditions to be able to get him in the ring. ATG not on your nelly

Posted March 19, 2013 3:43 pm

hayemaker

I think it will be Povetkin or Fury

Posted March 19, 2013 3:20 pm

Boxtradamus

Haye has WON the most rounds vs the Klinch version of Wlad in History!! And IF Wlad EVER abandons his Klinching Haye will knock him out.

Is this July 6th 2013? I mean, it’s Haye, so it could be like 2015. :-D

If haye flops around all night like he did against wlad he presents no problem for anyone

skinnysteve

if david haye fights the way he did against chisora he presents a real problem for any heavyweight

Posted March 19, 2013 1:45 pm

BEARS

Wladimir dominatedhaye who would not engage an kept falling down over and over phishing for a foul or DQ win. Then haye comes out with “the toe”. After all the garbage haye talked about what he was gonna do. Haye was the only terrible fighter in the ring because of what he did as I list above. It was deplorable and haye has still to this day not made up for that with one chisora fight sorry. Wlad had a dominating win and that’s what the champ does. Rod I’m tired of reading your garbage posts. Haye should add solis to this list. I highly doubt povetkin will fight haye. Solis and haye have a story. Solis beat haye once already

Posted March 19, 2013 1:43 pm

Good to see haye back, good for the division. It would not suprise me if haye has charr

Posted March 19, 2013 1:43 pm

Vitali wont go near haye, Fury Pulev………………he is now too old and wants one or two more easy fights. Maybe Charr again, shame he cant fight Pianettta, Wlad has already snatched than fight.

Lol! Its about time! Haye will probably go for the wbc now that it looks like vitaly is retireing. He may behealing up for one last battle with haye though. Vitaly hurt is arm and may have hurt his leg. Wlad already wooped that A55. But I’m really happy to see hayes gonna do this. It lives up the heavyweight division even more. Heavyweights areawesome
