JCC jr by UGLY KO

well said .

RCOLUNGA

its funny how people express their hate against a good, not yet great but will get there soon, JCC…whether he wins or looses he has had good opponents and not crap like other boxers,”Canelo” perhaps…I just hope its a worth paying for fight, which will be and hope that the boxing mafia stops in this sport. To the haters out there we will always dislike a boxer but it takes a lot of “COJONES” in the ring, dont hate, apreciate

Chavez winning would be a huge upset – do not see it. Sergio has fought better, bigger and tougher guys and is still improving.

Cant wait for this fight. Martinez to win by devasting ko in late rounds.

Posted September 1, 2012 11:09 am

Sergio

Yeah, so was Muhammad Ali. What’s your point?

Posted September 1, 2012 10:49 am

sedentaristazul

All of a sudden chavez is a big star,”popular”, and Martinez stops being 3rd 4p4, now a less fighter…mmm, better look the ko, maravilla…

Sergio

Chavez only chance will be to inflict damage early in the fight and offset Sergio’s rhythm; other than that the difference in speed and stamina will increase as the fight progresses and Maravilla will be much more dangerous and faster than Chavez in the championship rounds, just like he was against Pavlick, Williams 1, Barker, Macklin..Even PW who was a high energy pressure was overwhelmed by Sergio in the last few rounds of their first fight.

Can Chavez inflict damage early on and offset Sergio’s rhythm? Yes, he can,but he will need to tag Sergio consistently with his jab and catch him with the big hooks to the body as Sergio tries to side step the forward moving JCC. Easier said than done, Sergio proved he can out=jab a taller, very technical fighter like Dzinsiruck. I don;t think Chavez jab is that good. Besides, Sergio people forget that Martinez arms are longer than the kid’s (Martinez 75 inches, Chavez 74″). SO battling Sergio with the Jab is a tall order for Chavez, but there is no other way he can win this fight.

The most likely outcome is therefore a wide UD or late TKO for Martinez, a la Pac vs Margarito, where the faster, more accurate southpaw beats the slower, bigger slugger to a pulp. However, if Chavez manages to force Sergio to waste too much energy in the early rounds he’s got a chance to catch him against against the ropes in the middle rounds (7,8,9) and knock him out. Not impossible, buyt highly unlikely given then difference in experience, skill, intelligence and athleticism.

Sergio

It soesn’t show, he has two chins for Sergio to hit.

skinnysteve

“maravilla”has been knocked down and even KO’ed in past fight’s what chance does he have none

Posted September 1, 2012 7:07 am

jcccccc

chaves has way too much power for martinez. I kinda feel like its a mismatch.Chavez does not get dazed at all or hasnt yet…by anybody. You say martinez is fast???Like manfredo jr??/ well he got ko’d. I dont see why people hate on chavez jr, he has boxed his way to the top.And he will continue to do so with the best of the best. He is not little chaves jr anymore, hes a beast with a mission. martinez will eat his words , all he does is talk crap. We will all see martinez get ko’d for sure. I guarantee it.

chavez will beat maravilla he is been workng hard for this fight next will be canelo.

Posted September 1, 2012 12:09 am

StudentOfTheGame

The proof is in the pudding, roaches fighters as of late(Linares ko’d,khan stopped, pac last 2 fights very controversial,& last but not least jr pops little boy). His name is all he’s got,lee is no Sergio that’s for sure.Maravilla by complete massacre.

BTW, Sergio better get ready for a tough fight. Chavez ain’t a wide-open looping puncher like Paul Williams. And, Chavez has a devastating body attack. There’s gonna be blood, folks.

Posted August 31, 2012 11:26 pm

Hidalgo

I’m not even going to make a prediction until I know, without a doubt, that Chavez has tested clean and honest for this fight.

Posted August 31, 2012 11:21 pm

KnucKled Eye

You think trying to KO Chavez is wise? Chavez does have a pretty good chin. I don’t know if Martinez has enough power to stop Jr in his tracks. Martinez is a smart fighter and I’m sure he has a back up plan if he catches Jr flush with a great shot and all Jr does is smile and keep coming forward. I do think that martinez can and should box Jr’s ears off.

Posted August 31, 2012 10:43 pm

JoeKidd

Smart guy. No way Martinez will be walking away with a decision.

Posted August 31, 2012 9:42 pm

big head

i was undecided who to pick in this fight but now i think i have to go with martinez to win this one i like chavez jr i think he going to give it his all and martinez going to have work for this win i think martinez skills and experince going to win him this fight chavez jr going to have problems with martinez speed and elusive style and martinez jab i think martinez going to counter chavez jr alot

Posted August 31, 2012 8:30 pm

Titopa

Agreed. Andy Lee stood right in front of Chavez and allowed Chavez to muscle him and attack when he wanted…Martinez will NOT make the same mistake, Martinez will use his footwork to position himself at angles Chavez won’t be able to adjust to, Martinez will double up that left hand, because like Pavlik, Chavez is heavy on his feet and after the first left misses (or lands) the second will be icing on the cake!

Posted August 31, 2012 7:20 pm

Titopa

When has Chavez EVER KO’d someone in the first round? and by someone, I mean an ELITE level fighter. The ONLY reason why Chavez is asking/hoping/praying/wishing that Martinez stand still is because he and his team know DAMN well that Martinez is too elusive, Martinez has KO’d hist last 4 opponents, he doesn’t “run”, he boxes and he knocks dudes out.

Posted August 31, 2012 7:16 pm

skinnysteve

during the press conference chavez sr asked “maravilla” are you gonna stand in the center of the ring and fight like a man martinez said no im going to run run like a coyote and run he must else he will be KO’ed in the 1st round

Posted August 31, 2012 7:06 pm

John

No way JCC can win this fight!
JCC is too slow, and overweighted will be even slower!

Posted August 31, 2012 5:49 pm

Krysztof

This is a big step up for JCC man…guys like andy lee are not on the same level as Martinez.

Posted August 31, 2012 5:36 pm

Titopa

Yup! But to Martinez’s credit, he was a puppy who had yet face a “real” fighter….not to mention all of Margacheato’s “wins” are in question now.

Posted August 31, 2012 5:16 pm

Titopa

He has the right mentality. He should NOT “go” for the knockout, he should do what he normally does, land sharp punches in bunches that lead to a fatigued opponent who can’t take any more. Martinez is capable, but he CAN’T go all gung ho and think it’ll be easy….patience Martinez, patience!

viking

yeh, with his newly aquired plaster skills!!!

Posted August 31, 2012 4:41 pm

Dino

I think Martinez will outclass Jr., Chavez will just chase him around throwing wild shots. It will be a points win and the judges will have no choice but to give it to Martinez. Martinez has a great story, this man deserves this win, he worked long and hard. Good luck Sergio.

Posted August 31, 2012 3:50 pm

freddy

wow i didnt know margarito beat sergio to a pulp early in his career, hope theres no backflashes

Posted August 31, 2012 3:45 pm

philly shell

Judging has been so bad lately… I hope it ends in a conclusive KO for one of them

Posted August 31, 2012 2:57 pm

B Red

Cant believe there are some suckers that believe Jr will win the fight. Sergio dismantles the unskilled Chavez

Posted August 31, 2012 2:55 pm

RUFFKNIGHT

I believe him.

Posted August 31, 2012 2:53 pm

Prof Konje

I agree with Martinez regarding what he needs to do to get the win. We’ve all seen extremely bad decisions and this may be another unless Martinez stops the overweight coward. Come on Martinez-do it!

Posted August 31, 2012 2:37 pm

speed kills

maybe chavez has not being in with speed like martinez .he will have to suck up a lot of punishment like a man im afraid

Posted August 31, 2012 2:34 pm

Tony

I hope he knock the needles out of him

Posted August 31, 2012 2:30 pm

The Kingslayer

I kinda want Jr to KO Martinez.

Posted August 31, 2012 2:25 pm

Mr Broch

knock that kid out Martinez !

Posted August 31, 2012 2:17 pm

viking

I agree 100% with Martinez. All the dodgy decisions over the past year and one person is involved time and again- Bob Arum.

Posted August 31, 2012 2:13 pm

Boxtradamus

Martinez agrees with ME. Martinez by brutal late stoppage.

Posted August 31, 2012 1:58 pm

KOrnerman

Chavez not the most skilled but he is big at the weight and relentless, Martinez might gain an early lead but Chavez will catch up to him at some point, we’l see what happens then.
