Yup, I know Bugner still kept going in the 80′s and 90′s sporadically, and had some good wins, but he had worn himself out mentally by then..should have hit his peak by late 70′s really. I’d have given him a great chance against the likes of Tate, Spinks, Coetzee, Weaver, Dokes etc…not Larry Holmes though, UD to Holmes. As for the Cooper fight, could have gone either way, no way was that a robbery, it was a close fight between a fading contender and up and coming kid.
Hugh Fury is doing right by going the old school route; he shouldnt take on to much too early though..on the other hand he should not fight 30 potato sacks in a row like Wilder!

Joe bugner was still fighting in the late nineties not bad for a guy who turned pro in 1967 , he did have a break but re established in Australia .

There can be a downside to turning pro very young. Joe Bugner turned pro at 17 and fought a crazy number of fights, including beating some good opposition such as Henry Cooper, Manuel Ramos, Chuck Wepner, Brian London, Scrapiron Johnson, Ray Patterson, Jeurgen Blin and Tony Doyle, all while still basically a kid. However, when he should have been hitting his peak in the late 70′s/early 80′s he retired/lost interest.

Fight Aficionado

Hoping to see this Fury kid on TV. Interesting his debut was in Canada instead of England.

Wilder should up the comp and fight a punchbag, an actual punchbag that you hit in the gym, it moves sometimes and can knock you down if you aint careful.

slip and hit

Yes Fury looked good for a 18yr old kid in his first pro fight. He will be a guy to watch..without a doubt.

Hugie Fury stopping this guy in his first fight…good job.I like the idea this kid turned pro at 18 very old school. If he gets a set back he has plenty of time to rebound not like these guys today getting title shots at 32,fighting no one.
