Brandon Rios: 'Let's See What Bradley Brings'

Brandon Rios claims he is ready for anything ahead of his clash with WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley next month, insisting he is confident he can draw Bradley in and make him fight ‘his fight.’

Rios goes into the clash having not boxed since way back in January when he destroyed an out-of-sorts Mike Alvarado in their rubber match, and knows that Bradley – under the guidance of new trainer Teddy Atlas – is looking to box a smart fight and not get caught in a war as he has been prone to unnecessarily in the past.

It seems that Brandon Rios hasn’t quite got over his disappointment at the cancellation of his mooted fight with IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook earlier this year, insisting Brook was afraid to step in the ring with him and is simply calling out names he has no intention of fighting.

Rios’ team were negotiating with Brook and his promoter Eddie Hearn for some time before the proposed clash fell apart due to contractual minutiae; most notably money and a rematch clause, leading ‘Bam Bam’ toward his alternative date next month with WBO boss, Tim Bradley.

“Desert Storm” made the change and left long time trainer Joel Diaz in the wake of his June fight with Jessie Vargas, which despite him clearly winning on all cards, came to a controversial end right in the dying seconds when Bradley was hurt and referee Pat Russell mistook the 10 second clapper for the final bell.

It’s been a long time coming for the Robert Garcia trained brawler, who, until reasonably recently, was all set to be coming to England to challenge IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook, until the fight fell apart at the advanced negotiation stage – over a number of different reasons – chief among them was thought to be financial minutiae – so at the last minute, Team Rios, and manager Cameron Dunkin, had to start their search for an opponent all over again.
