Mayweather-Maidana at MGM Grand on 5/3

Floyd Mayweather Jr. (45-0, 26 KO’s) finally made up his mind today about where to stage his May 3rd fight against WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KO’s). The fight will be staged at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The venue was a real no-brainer due to the absence of a state tax in Nevada. That’s why makes Nevada and other states like Texas and Washington ideal for boxing, because the fighters don’t take a second hit on their taxes after having a huge chunk taken out on the federal taxes.

Having the fight staged in New York instead of Las Vegas would have taken a huge chunk out of Mayweather’s winning, and that obviously is something that he wasn’t too keen on taking place. The only way it would have been worth it for Mayweather to fight at the Barclays Center would be if they sweetened the pot by giving Mayweather extra cash to cover what he’d be losing from the state tax money taken from his purse.

Marcos Maidana Will KO Floyd!

I”m putting myself out there and making a pretty bold prediction but I feel that Marcos Maidana is going to shock the world by knocking out Floyd Mayweather in the 11th round of their upcoming fight. I have three reasons for thinking this: Floyd hasn’t gotten any better and is slipping, Marcos Maidana has just the right style to beat Floyd, and finally, Maidana has sky high confidence!

Marcos “El Chino” Maidana: The Right Choice

Marcos “El Chino” Maidana: The Right Choice

“All roads lead to Mayweather,” his Moneyness is fond of saying. The road trekked by Marcos Maidana has been long and hard, featuring crushing disappointments and inspiring, even surprising triumphs. His story reads like a Hollywood script. A rough and rugged Argentine fighter who spends years trudging and struggling in obscurity is suddenly thrust into the spotlight courtesy of murderous power in both hands and an unearthly toughness that would make the late great Arturo Gatti blush; and just like a Tinseltown scribe would pen, that long, hard and brutal road leads to the biggest name in sports and the greatest boxer of the age, Floyd “Money” Mayweather, Jr.

Mayweather Jr. Picks Maidana, Leaving Khan In Search For His Next Rival

Mayweather Jr. Picks Maidana, Leaving Khan In Search For His Next Rival

The night when Marcos Maidana had achieved something that most boxing fans did not expect him to, at least not in the fashion that he did it in, by beating Adrien Broner with somewhat an indifferent, casual fashion, the thought of Maidana vs. Mayweather Jr. was born.

There is a respectable number of boxing fans suggesting that Adrien Broner wasn’t himself that night, and that maybe Marcos Maidana simply got lucky, but all that seems irrelevant after seeing Maidana make an easy night of an opponent that was supposed to be the next virtuoso in the sport of boxing.

While the idea of Maidana vs. Mayweather Jr. was born, there was another name that has been carefully and consistently attaching itself to the Mayweather Jr. fight for a long time: Amir Khan.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. (45-0, 26 KO’s) did what everyone expected him to do today in selecting WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KO’s) for his next fight on May 3rd on Showtime PPV instead of Amir Khan, who fans seemed to have little interested in seeing Mayweather fight next. Maidana would be tough fight for Mayweather, says Sergio Martinez

maidana790If Marcos Maidana ends up being the one that faces Floyd Mayweather Jr. in his next pay-per-view bout on Showtime on May 3rd, Sergio Martinez sees Mayweather as having problems in trying to beat him. Sergio, a tough fighter from Argentina, thinks Maidana won’t be an easy out for Mayweather if he chooses to face him.

Mayweather hasn’t revealed whether he’ll face Maidana or an arguably weaker test in Amir Khan, but fans have pretty much spoken with their desire not to see Mayweather fight Khan. Maidana would be an upgrade over Khan despite the fact that Khan beat him three years ago.

Why Floyd Won’t Fight Maidana?

maidana788931The swarmer has always been the natural nemesis of the pure boxer. The pure boxer is unable to keep him off due to his lack of punching power and the pressure fighter is able to do what he does best: SWARM. I feel this is the reason why Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Marcos Maidana would be an epic battle of huge proportions.

Maidana is coming off a huge winning streak and he really showed a lot of mental toughness and skill by handing Floyd’s Lil Brother Adrien Broner his first loss. This has huge potential as being a big fight. The older brother steps in after the big school yard bully beats up the younger brother. Can the bully beat up the older brother? Lets take a look at history to see what might happen in this fight.
