DERRICK "SMOKE" GAINER EYES MARCO ANTONIO BARRERA
29.01 - Derrick "Smoke" Gainer would like
to step into the ring against Marco Antonio Barrera.
DiBella Entertainment's WBA featherweight champion
believes that is the fight the public wants, is ready
to rumble, and sees no deal-breaking obstacles.
Barrera has an April 12 pay-per-view date on the calendar, and Gainer figures: "why wait?"
"We are the two best featherweights in the world, so let's give the people what they want to see," said Gainer from his Pensacola, FL headquarters.
"I have never known Barrera to turn down a challenge, so I know he will want the fight."
Said Lou DiBella, DBE president, and Gainer's advisor:
