THE COUGAR TO POACH IN GERMANY AGAIN!

24.05 - International Austrian champion Gotthard “The Cougar” Hinteregger will, for his second outing under the Fight Production / IFCO banner, return to Germany on June 28 to appear on the undercard of the European Union lightheavyweight title fight between defending champion Lee Manuel Osie and French challenger Julien Chamayou. Hinteregger improved his record to 22-6-1 (12 KO’s) in his debut for his new team on April 30 in Berlin and now hopes to sufficiently impress manager Olaf Schroeder and promoter and IFCO boss Eva Rolle to get a title chance of sorts later in the year.

SCHROEDER AND HERCZEG PART WAYS

Rather surprisingly it was announced today by German manager Olaf Schroeder’s company Fight Production that the contract with IBF Intercontinental champion Laszlo Herczeg was amicably terminated with immediate effect less than two months after it was signed.

The lightweight-cum-lightwelterweight signed a co-managerial contract with Fight Production and George Racz’ Hungarian Unio Box Team in early April, only to loose a vacant WBF lightwelterweight title fight to Ted Bami in nine rounds on April 12 in London. Earlier this month, Herczeg had scored a win in Szekszard, Hungary to improve his record to 16-2 (7 KO’s).

According to Schroeder, Hungary’s main boxing channel RTL Klub, who televised the Bami fight, lost complete interest in the man who’s real name is Vasile Herteg. “He does not have a Hungarian passport, does not even speak Hungarian and still lives in Romania, so it was only thanks to my Polish partner Kryzsztof Zbarski that we got him on television. It seems like neither Laszlo nor George Racz understood our situation, and when their demands became unreasonable in my opinion, we thought it might be better to end our relationship,” explains Schröder.

Herczeg is expected to continue his career under Racz’ sole management.
