Indy Fireman Pours Water on Hot Solis

04.06 - Press release: In an abrupt ending to what figured to be a sensational pairing, Indianapolis firefighter Chris Lytle took out Whiting, Indiana's Guy Solis in the first round of an eight round bout for the Indiana Boxing Association light heavyweight title at the 8 - Second Saloon here tonight.

Solis has campaigned in the cruiserweight division and was sporting a six bout winning streak, but was nailed by a powerful right hand from Lytle one minute into the bout and was never able to recover. After two knockdowns, referee Bill Paige called a halt to the bout.

Lytle's trainer Keith Palmer said his fighter is ready for more main events. "Chris is in terrific condition and hits like a mule. He is the best prospect out of Indianapolis in quite a while."

Indianapolis welterweight Louis Brown wan an entertaining six round decision over Oklahoma veteran Verdell Smith. Brown was in control throughout the bout, but Smith kept trying and made it interesting.

Hard luck Ryan Maraldo saw his bout with Jerome Elder stopped in the sixth and final round after Maraldo was pushed to the canvas and his knee popped out.

The two were trading on an equal basis over six hard rounds, but Maraldo was not able to stand on his knee and was ruled out by way of TKO.
