Toney's Long Journey Back to Being a Champion

19.08 - IBF Cruiserweight World Champion James "Lights Out" Toney, preparing for his Oct. 4 pay-per-view heavyweight bout against Evander Holyfield October 4 in Las Vegas, will be the subject of a special edition of SUNDAY NIGHT FIGHTS, airing Sunday, August 24 at 8 PM local time on Fox Sports Net (check local listings).

The hour-long program shows the progression made by Toney as he resurrected his career under the guidance of promoter Dan Goossen.

Coverage of two bouts that previously aired on Fox Sports Net are replayed - March 7, 1999 vs. Terry Porter when an out-of-shape Toney managed an eighth round TKO victory; and three years later when a trimmer and more serious Toney scored a seventh round knockout over James Robinson.

SUNDAY NIGHT FIGHTS also provides highlights and comments from Toney's victory over Vassiliy Jirov last April to claim the IBF crown.

Also shown is a recent interview with Toney conducted by SNF commentator Rich Marotta, plus an entertaining, behind-the-scenes segment with the current cruiserweight champion at his Hollywood training gym and around the Los Angeles area where he meets many other big time stars.
