Joey Archer vs. Sumbu Kalambay

I'd thought about making a thread on this one in the past. I'll have to think on it. I can't think of a better, more technical pure boxing matchup at MW than this one. On first impulse I'd slightly favor Kalambay.

i expect like Griffith's fights with Archer, most fights would be close and hard to score at times.

It might come down to who can get the other to pressure most often.I think kalambay is the better overall technician and stronger on the inside but he likes to toy with fighters using his D and would need to get his jab going to offset Archer's steadier workrate...Joey doesn't have the kind of offensive style that allows for lots of countering oppurtunities.Archer did really struggle with Mims cute defensive moves however, though i'm not too sure sumbu would be as aggressive.

Tough fight to call this one is for reasons already already stated, but I think Joey`s higher punch output just might swing this fight his way and I believe he also had the longer reach here which would serve him well in the inevitable jabbing contest that will eventually take place between these two.

Kalambay was better defensively but I think he may well be forced to take the lead in this fight moreso than Joey due to Joey`s reach advantage, and Sumbu didnt particularly enjoy doing that. Mantequilla stated that Kalambay was stronger on the inside which is true, but Joey knew how to tie his man up in close and he would do just that to Kalambay should he get too close and neutralize him.

I`ll go with Joey via close decision, but it could just as easily go the other way, a real interesting fight nonetheless and I would have loved to have seen it.
