Ok opposition is slightly questionable but he puts his punches together beautifully and looks like he can do it all. I think he's going places I really do.

this fight was in limerick on ther undercard of andy lee vs Alejandro Gustavo Falliga fight i was ringside you can see my head at 0.44 behind the youtube sign. I agree that perez is tremendous he has got great knock out power in both hands and has dominated all of his five oppenets but his last fight was an 8 rounder 1st round ko on a no where to hyde promotion and i think he will not make any real noise until he stars fighting on larger bills and against better opposition

How big is he? He looks on the small side for a HW.

5'11" I believe. He's like a Tyson build. Small but built as fuck. Great handspeed for a heavy, he certainly looks very good with a bit of pop. Had a pretty sustained amateur career aswell, had something like 70 fights and won around 45-50 of them.

He certainly seems to pick his punches well, the size is an issue these days though.

He's on his way over to train with Freddie Roach for a few months next week.i only saw him fight the once but he looks the real deal, his promoter Gary Hyde has 2 other cubans aswell the best of these is Alexei Acosta whos also a world junior champion.

What is his background, is he a cuban?

Yeah, he was a junior amateur star and defected to Ireland with two others this year.
He puts his punches together well but as Gaz says he looks a bit small. Hopefully he doesn't go on the Solis/Toney diet.

I'm making a bet that he at least contests a legitimate claim to the title within 3 years.

My only problem with the guy is his height and he is not very muscular compared to other short heavies, wonder if he could get to cruiser?
Someone post a pic of the guy.
Looked promising.
Alexeev is the best heavyweight prospect. Povetkin is decent too. The rest are no hopers once the Klitschko's retire.

To be honest I'm not sold at all, and I don't usually write prospects off. There is just something about him that doesn't seem 'world class'. I know that one can reliably come to a conclusion so early in someone's career, maybe it's those particular videos or something else but I just don't think he will make much of an impact.

I'm not sure Alexeev will move up to heavyweight. He'll dominate at cruiser though, that's almost a certainty.

I saw Perez's 3rd fight against a polish guy with more losses than wins. To me he did not look that impressive but then you can't really tell too much from just one fight, it may have been an offnight !

perez is a good boxer obviously his size worries me but he has sharp punches and can bang, he is relatively unknown over here in dublin, i try to tell my friends about this cuban fighting out of cork and they cant help but laugh
