that style of pad routine does nothing for me, the trainer's putting more into it than the fighter, its like some sort of clappy game girls do in a playground. can honestly say even when the mayweathers do it i've never been impressed

yeah that was ridiculous if you watch bam bam the american talent he throws his punches more than this kid, but that was pointless the kid was barely moving his arms although his defensive skills looked good

The trainer definitely looked like he was getting a better work out.

Of course it's scripted - it reminded me a lot of a dance routine !!
The kid looked sharp though.

Yep so have the bookies stopped taking bets on him actually becoming a world champion? I may bet otherwise if the odds are good.

didnt ricky hatton say the same thing about the guy who knocked him spark out.
its a training exercise to improove speed, fitness, agility and reactions. 4 of the most important things to be a boxer.

Just what I was thinking . Hatton said something like " I could do that for a week solid! " and then found himself getting pepperd and unable to do anything about it.
Not every workout requires hand breaking heavy bag work

an open workout or media day is an opportunity to show an opponent what you've got, i just don't find a rehearsed 'routine' very intimidating or impressive. i'm not questioning the merits of any training technique

Why whould you want to do that ? :huh
Surely disguising your strengths would make more sense ?
Pad work like that is a relevant exercise and its good for the cameras because it looks flashy.

to show you mean business and to sell the fight, don't mean giving any game plans away. suppose whether you think it looks good/flashy comes down to personal preference, i imagine my girlfriend would say so

True but Bam Bam and the Japanese wonder kid set the standards for comparison and this kid is not even close.

So if there is anyone that thinks he is just all flash and no substance please bring someone to fight him.

Yes he is all flash and it means little in the ring. Remember Paul Silky Jones. He was a very smooth operator but when Paul Wesley delivered that huge uppercut Silky went to sleep.
If you are so concerned, then set up a junior prizefighter comp and fly in the likes of Bam Bam (who is a lot smaller than this kid) and the Japenese wonder kid. Let them box each other and see who is the best. This kid will not even get close. I remember years ago I saw a chap who was getting his kid to train like Nigel Benn, he even had a similar haircut. We never saw the kid again after his hype slot on the television.
