Probably not the greatest, but Lewis-Bowe anytime from 1993-1996 would've been a big draw and a fierce fight. All the ingrediants were there that'd make marketing it a dream.

Beat me to it. I can't think of a bigger fight in the 90's, honestly. (That didn't happen.)

It would've been great to see Roy Jones vs either of Benn or McClellan before they ruined each other (in a great fight). A Jones-Hopkins rematch 1997-2000, while the first one was boring, would've been interesting from a legacy point of view.

Two that were mentioned at the time but never terribly close to coming off as far as I know
Hagler vs. Spinks (Spink's wanted the match-up pretty badly and taunted Hagler to some degree)
Hagler/Leonard II
Foster/Monzon

Jones against Darius or Eubank would of been good too.

One I'd loved to have seen as well. How do you see it going?

TBH i see Spinks taking him out. Saad is a great warrior but Spinks is too well rounded and hard hitting IMO to get beat in this one. Saad's penchant for taking loads of punishment and the best the opponent has before roaring back late doesn't work against such fearsome power.

Yeah HJ, some serious stylistic matchups in that lot mate. Some can't have been far off fruition either.

Unfortunately they could have NEVER met on equal prime v prime terms.
A 78 Saad could never face an 83 Spinks so any result had they fought wouldn't have really meant anything.

If they fought before Qawi finished Saad it would have meant loads. The loss to Qawi was quite a shock. They were actually going to fight but Qawi ruined things, to say the least.
Admittedly Saad peaked substancially earlier but tho there were worries nobody predicted his sudden demise. Maybe Qawi would have always been a bad match for him.

You said it right there...
In 1993 this fight was a natural.. Lewis beat Tucker on points to take WBC , and Bowe had the rest of the titles, rather than fight Holyfield in a rematch in November 1993 , Lewis v Bowe should have appeared in Vegas, with the winner maybee fighting the challenger Moorer next.. Evander seemed to get rematches all over the place, Evander rematched Stewart, Moorer , Bowe, Lewis, Tyson, Qwawi.. Hell Evander rematched everyone.........

Had Saad fought Mike instead of Qawi at that time it would have simply been Mike instead of Qawi that would have caused his ''sudden demise'' IMHO. Saad had just been thru too many wars by that point. Six+ years of taking numerous devastating shots from several champs and contenders.
Just for it being a possible war, Hatton-Gatti.
I remember it being very possible until Gatti lost to Baldomir.

What is the story here. Why didn't Rose - Famechon come off, it would of been a natural. Everyone new Rose was having trouble with the weight. He could of took this fight in the summer of 69 as reigning bantam champ. Surely it would of been the biggest fight in Australian boxing history.
Who would of won?

True enough. I think peak Spinks (as well as Dwight) is a frightening matchup for peak Saad tho.

The story is that they were Australia's two biggest stars at the time and the fear among both camps was that if they met a loss for either fighter would damage their reputation and kill off the career of one of them.So for the good of Australian boxing the fight didn't happen,at least this is the story I heard.
It would've been a great fight and going by both men's showing against Harada many would favour Rose but I've always felt that Harada's style played right into Lionel's hands whereas Famechon presented more problems stylistically.Famechon was fast, had a very good defense,a great jab and a better punch than he's given credit for and I reckon he'd out slick the counter puncher to take a close decision.
Monzon v Foster
For me as a massive Monzon fan would have been heaven.

You're a massive Monzon fan and a fight against Foster is what you would have liked to see?
Speaking as a fellow Monzon fan, that is a fight I am happy he avoided. No need to see him get knocked out.
