Too small. He would be a good contender but not a great.
Jake could make 160 easily in the modern era though, maybe 154. He'd be a terror there.

too small ? he beat the crap out of some of the best light heavies of his time. i agree with todays analogy of him being able to make 160 or 154 with todays technology but youre talking bout a guy whos frame supported 190-200 plus back then. he even stated that he had problems making light heavy back at the end of his carreer.

i think a 168 division beckons for him.
what made him a bit of a legend is that we never really saw a prime lamotta. we saw a weight drained light heavy who wasnt eating or drinking until the day of the fight. (due to the non rehydration that is used today).so you almost always got a weak bull.
lets not forget that as much as he is 5'8 he is not a small guy.
one of the strangest facts to me is how in the amatuers robinson was a featherwieght and jake a light heavy, it astounds me.

the man above just said what astounded him was that in the amateurs lamotta was a light heavy so he cant be too small, today. whos kicking his ass today if hes too small and if hes just a pretender at lightheavy and decides to go 154 is he whipping floyd mayweather jr or the other greats of today(how bout srr today with their new technology)? whos he whippinjg or getting whipped by at 160 today?jake lamotta was truly one of the best to ever lace on a pair of gloves.

If he start @ lightheavy he would be a more sklilled version of Dwight Qwawi Braxton....with weight training today the real Raging Bull would be a force for sure at that weight.....Jones,Hopkins,Calzage,Tarver and others would have there hands full with Jake

bummy you definitely make scence. i believe jakes beatable(everyone is cept marciano lol) but hes whipping most of todays and yesterdays(60s 70s 80s 90s and 2000s fighters.he was that good. you must remember he was uncrowned champ for three to five yrs . no one wanted to fight him. what would have happend between him and zale?
