I remember a few month back , some fans used to compare Faber to the likes of Kid & Fedor...some were even saying that he was > P4P "ze best"...
I guess this puts things back in perspective a bit...

Don't get me wrong though...I think Faber is defintily an exciting fighter (and a talented one too)...
ps: now i actually remmeber once making comparisons to this guy and Yamamoto too..But i always thought that Yamamoto was a whole different specimen..

to be honest...these knds of things happen to everyone (well almost)..
It even once happened to fedor..(huge punch out of nowhere vs Fujita).. only difference fedor generally manages to save his ass in the worst case scenarios..
But maybe that's a bad example...Because Brown's punch wasn't out of nowhere , unlike fujita..he didn't have his back turned to his opponent...the roles are reversed here..Faber was the one who had his back turned..

I think he was a bit hurt before that elbow it looked like it came out of desperation.

i think faber just made a dumb move and payed for it
i bet if they rematched it wouldn't end like it did the first time

He is trying to be too much of a superstar. Trying to make highlight reels. It is a rather common thing that fighters do, and then kick themselves in the ass for it later.

Risky move...and he paid for it.

I never drank the Faber Kool-Aid. Always knew Yamamoto was on another level. Now if only he'd get back in the mix.

"This guy" was the #2 guy in the world at that weight in most rankings.
Faber has dominated their common opponents, Yamamoto has looked average against them.
In the past 2 years Faber has won 6 good fights, Kid has fought 2. One of them was common opponent Fernandes, Faber put him through a meat grinder, Kid should have lost a decision to him.

The guy is still elite.
He got caught after a stupid move.
He will learn.

Why because he's Japanese. Didn't overrated Japanese fighters. Look at what just happened to Paolo Filho.

Yeah that was kind of ineteresting I guess. I watched that yesterday. And to me, wiht my journey I guess in MMA. I am learning now, that alot of fights that may not be the most professional, are really alot like sparring matches and not all the time necesarrily the "end all of be end all", that I used to think. Especially with the Fhilo vs. Sonnen fight.
And also the Faber vs. Brown fight, that elbow Faber threw that is a mean bad ass street move. I think he should have not over extended as much, not as much space, and not jumped up at the end. Otherwise that was a mean move, something mean I like :yep , not seeing people get hit with it though :( .
I may just be in a mood. Did it seem like Brown just reactivley step to the side and threw a punch. I mean to me it didn't even look like he knew Faber was throwing an elbow. He just instinctively reacted or countered. It was a good fight. I hope to see another.

Does anyone think Garcia will get his title shot now - or does Faber get an immediate rematch?
Seeing as how Faber is WEC's posterboy - he will no doubt rematch Brown very soon.
Faber is all about flash and speed, This is what happens when you try to be "flashy" and look good in the ring. Technique and composure win out most times. Who ever said above that Brown didn't see it coming I assure you he saw it stepped left and countered with a right hook right on the money. I honestly don't see it any different in a rematch. Brown looked focused and determined and wasn't intimidated by Fabers presence. Faber needs to keep his hands up and NOT try those Anderson Silva moves.

if he can learn from it and tone down the flash a little, work on his fundamental stuff, then he'll come back. the only real problem is nerves now, hes gotta get the 'i was knocked out' shit outta his head

Have you guys seen the first fight where Faber was KO'd by Griffin? I was never sold on Faber completely - because he can be a bit wild and careless at times - and his speed lets him get away from it. Griffin countered him properly with a right hand and never let him recover. this wild elbow he threw against Brown was the height of carelessness and he paid for it dearly. Fights like this should make Faber focus a bit more. He can come back strong and still dominate. I want to see the rematch with Brown.
I think Faber is going to be the sort of fighter that is going to be great because he is flashy and dynamic, but is also going to lose every now and then because he is flashy and dynamic.
There are opponents he fights that he could and should use his speed and take risks against. Other good counter punchers and chess match fights should be fought a little more cautiously. Taking away some of his aggressions and odd moves might take away part of what makes him good. He just has to do a better job of assessing risk. That elbow was a pretty retarded move for anyone.

Damn he got lit the fuck up!
Theres goes the Faber express. Losing a close decision is one thning but getting KO'd in the first is another  He'll be outta the P4P rankings for a while :nod.

Actually, I dont see this loss as a devastating loss...Yes he got Koed but not dominated...It was really his carelessness and Browns "lucky" punch..coz frankly it was Faber who punched Browns fist with his face.

Do all these little guys use roids?
Faber tried to be a little too fancy with that elbow.
I don't think it was a lucky punch at all. Look at the camera view from behind, he clearly sees it coming and steps to the left and bobs his head left to avoid and countered with a beautiful right. I don't think it was luck.

It wasn't luck, it was stupidity on Faber's part. Faber threw a wild elbow that only a moron would ever throw. That is something like I would expect from Charlie Zellenoff, when he said he was going to MMA.

Mike Brown is a very very good fighter guys, hes at least a top 5 guy, the only thing keeping him from being the undisputed #2 before the fight was Imanari leglocking him a while ago (no shame in that)
This wasn't GSP - Serra, it was a legit top 5 guy beating the #1 guy.
