Just curious as to people's opinions on this fighter. I see a lot of discussion about the heavyweight division revolving around fighters like Povetkin, Chambers, Haye, etc. There is not much of anything being said about this guy (that I have seen). Which is odd to me considering his credentials, the type of credentials that seem to have prompted the excitement around Povetkin.

A lot of people are high on Solis, but we'll need to see what happens when the going gets tough. Sure, he has the amateur credentials, and he has an amazing record for someone with only 3 pro bouts, but the fact that he's not trying to get in shape also tells me that he's not taking things that seriously at this point. Maybe it's just because he's ad******g to free society, but then again, maybe not.

IMO, if you put Solis and Chambers in the ring together in a 6 rounder, Solis beats Chambers right now.

To me, Solis is the best Heavyweight prospect out there, he is extremely talented and has potential to become a heavyweight champ very quickly, im sure as the fights get tougher in better shape we will se him.

so look out for him... he is going to do big things

I've been talking to one of his opponents who says Solis is a good fighter, but he ain't going to beat no Klitschko or anything.. sorry man, don't get your hopes up too high on this kid, Gamboa on the other hand :hey

i think he is exactly what the division needs...a bit of latina vibe(john ruiz kept it alive but was never going to be loved)

he is slick ,hits very hard got all the tools has a great jab ,great hook, very sweet on the inside(his combo's are the best i have seen in the olympics heavywiehgts) and his abilty to take a punch is also in his am record.

an amatuer record might not mean world class but this man fights...he is already a fighter not a olympian but a man who is payed to punch

thats not what you are going to say when you see him in really good shape (yet again he has to get there first) as he used to be in the olympics,

The Olympic boxing commmentator once said "he had never seen a heavyweight move like Solis did" when he is in shape... he moves like a middleweight

Great prospect indeed and a great former amateur. The only hope is that he gets into a good shape.

Saw his pro fights on youtube. He isn't ready to fight for a tittle or championship yet but I think he will be soon.

Fonte is propably more talked about as any other boxer with only 3 amateur fights! Povetkin after 3 pro fights was not so much talked about.

anyone with a winning record against Savon is very talented.

Wait for the boy to get in proper shape and he will be a belt holder

I'm not counting him out totally, but getting himself in 100% shape is going to be hard when we know the history of cuban fighters moving to US/EU.. it's a hard shift.

Hmm..thanks for the opinions. Going to be a while before he gets anywhere obviously, but hopefully he gets himself in shape. Seems an utter shame to let his kind of talent go to waste.

At least there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel with guys coming up in the division. Hopefully it isn't just flashes in the pan though. :think
