View Full Version : Australian Boxing All Falls Back On Mundines Shoulders!

Vic won last week. Should have given the sport some more positive media attention. However all that happened was 30 seconds on Ten News and Seven News. And by the next day people had forgot.

Katsidis recieves little attention down here. All the responsibility is back on Mundines shoulders.

Its the way the media works and public interest. But inevitably he is carrying Australian boxing at the moment.

Currently fox is on the verge of possibly scrapping all cards. Bika isn't getting aired.

And boxing is right on the back foot. Even though a week after Vic winning, it should be in a very highly held place in Australian sport.

It all comes back down to Choc, like it has for a while.

Anyone agree with me on this? No Nonsense responses.

Actually, here is a great opportunity for Mundine in some little way to look good in the public eye by condeming Elomar and his crew for there behaviour. You wld think he wld be supporting Kickett anyway being Aboriginal.

Kickett's endorsed by Green in a pretty big way, and Mundine seems pretty close to the Lebanese community, so it puts him in one hell of a tough spot.

The responsible thing Mundine could do would be to mediate the whole situation and not let this get out of hand, because as much as he is not involved, he's in a pretty central position.

But hey, Mundine + responsible + doing positive things in the public eye.. who am I kidding.. But it would improve his credibility from nothing to something in my books.

Possibly, I guess it's just a shame that the bad guy act gets played to death and generally cancels out any good he does do.

And while I'm concious of hype and publicity drum up's, I would like to see him be a bit better than all this and become more of a role model because I do believe there is a degree of decency in him.

Mundine spends 24/7 trying to fix the drug problems in Redfern. Often through creating free boxing clinics and funding other charities. In real life, hes a very well liked person. He plays the villain for the cameras, thats his business with the sport.

Currently hes been looking good and has been sparring some pro heavyweights and light heavyweights. Pintos should be out of their within 6.

Keep in mind what he does in the future is only known by 3 people.

But Sturm or Espino looms next. With Green possibly (very unlikely)

Trust me. The hours are endless. Its all about getting drugs out of Redfern. He puts in dedication to this 24/7 literally.

I personal like Mundine meet him a couple of times. I think personal he has totally wasted the last 18 months after the second soliman fight.WHY

With the way mundine acts, I know it is a business think playing apart to create interest, but he must know if you talk big. you must deliever big and mundine just has not done it in the last 18 months. he is 33 now. it is time to step up

Im not his matchmaker. So i agree with you he has fought poor opponents over the past 18 months or so.

Yeh, i don't think anyone who meets him says a bad word about him. Sure he gets annoyed at people taking the piss out of him. But im sure i have said this 1000 times, the endless hours he puts into Aboriginal charities and research to get rid of alcoholism and drug abuse, is second to none.

In sparring, hes faster then ever. I will confidently say he has gained even more speed with the drop down in weight. Currently sparring with heavyweights and light heavyweights (pro's), and everything is going very well.

Also 4000 tickets for the Whitlam Centre in Liverpool sold out very quickly. Took 2 days.

Take a look at the way the Soliman 2 fight ended. Nasser and others nearly trample all over Soliman while he's still on the ground.

Not too dis-similar to what happened last night from what I've seen.

Can you stop being so insulting.

Of course its not the sole reason. But its a contributing factor.

Oh puhlease...Mundine may get more publicity than other Aussie boxers, but even the amount he gets has dwindled over the years to the point where it's almost non-existant.

How many papers and TV shows still fall for the "I'm going back to league" before every fight, or him coming out and bagging Cathy Freeman just before he has a fight, purely because he's having trouble selling tickets, etc.

The guy got a lot of publicity at the start of his boxing career, but nowadays you hardly ever hear of him, which is how it should be.

Danny Weidler still tries to suck his cock on Nine sports segment, but even that sheepheaded cunt has gotten a bit tired of publicly displaying his affection for that joke :yep

Look at him and look at the guy he wants to be rjj.

Hes 39 shot and still fighting primetime infront of 30thousand ppl for millions of bucks..And against elite oposition.

Mundines in his prime fighting infront of a few thousand nuthuggers against a dud with a few pubs picking up the bout..

Sad thing if your right, then boxing is dead in Australia.
