Should be a good fight thats for sure. Rickys got a good chin and hits reasonably hard so i'm sure unless the kids a bit special he'll come through.

heard this guys a real danger and if ricky fights the way he did against akaba he's in shit street. he took Ali Funeka 12 rounds and from what i read the boxing news reporter said he's got potential and the scoring was tight. Also he bangs hard.

Amidu is like alot of ghanian fighters at this stage of there career. A decent looking record a very good knockout percentage and one or 2 decent names on there record of which they've usually lost to. So wether Amidu's record is superfitual or not im sure we will find out, but one things for sure he will probably have a very good chin.

i cant disagree,it will be good warm up fight for when burns goes to over power kevin mitchell.

as the only brits poster who is pretty involved in the west african boxing scene. the opinion is that most ghanians fancy this boy differently. you got to understand that Bukom and Accra get mixed up. he trains in Bukom now.
from my uncle (who is a photographer in west africa did alot of boxing work) he says, has a very high guard, solid jab and decent handspeed. sadly the high guard means that he doesnt throw alot of punches per round and his kos usually come from an accumalation of punches which just happen to stop guys pretty early.

even tho people may look at his record and look at the number of dubutents he has fought. take into account that these are tough tough men he is fighting. these arnt the typical debutents you see on trailer park series or on an undercard journeyman...these guys look to win. and they arnt non boxers they know how ot fight just arnt refined and dont have th ebacking. if you make a 3 fight winning streak you will recieve alot of attention.
money is so scarce in these areas. a trainer in bukom called miguel castalanas says that most of his trainees dissappear after 12 months of training to fight in the pro's.

point im saying is that these are not record builders they are money figths for both men.

the kid can fight but im sure will get outboxed for the large majority of it.

FAIL

Not often I disagree with you, but I do here.

Johanneson made Burns look silly and took his best shots.

Mitchell has a better chin than Carl IMO, though probably not as much power.

Mitchell UD or late TKO.

Yep abit harsh by me but I can not see him beating a top end domestic fighter. Hopefully he will prove me wrong and KO that cocky cockney.

u talk some amount of pish sometimes, Burns beat earl, a commonwealth games gold medalist colin bane, that last boy and a couple of other guys above journey man status. How does the fact that he lost to Arthur and Johanneson give u the idea that he loses to anyone above journeymen status.

It pays to not just say things without logic behind them :huh

Ricky Burns was in the sun two days ago saying he doesnt think this fight will be too big a problem, because the guy he's fighting has already lost to Kevin Mitchell and Watson!!!!!

PROBLEM IS RICKY, your getting Yakubu mixed up with George Ashie, what the hell is going on?

Hhe and his team are looking and studying the wrong person. Trouble?

I would think that was most likley a miss print on the paper's behalf, i doubt very much they are looking at the wrong person!!!.

The papers dont have enough boxing knowledge to know who they even are. It came out of Burns mouth.

Jeez I have already said I was abit harsh on Burns and that I wish him success against Mitchell if that fight ever happens but I really doubt he has quite enough to beat top level domestic fighters.

I know ricky, there's no chance their going into fight with the wrong guy in mind. Especially since watson used to be his stable mate, they would know about ashie.

Doors opened at half 6 with the first fight on about 7ish. Don't head to the fridge btw :good

premature stoppage. i think he would have got it anyway, but amidu could have survived that round

nufc16

that was a premature stoppage, but amidu only has himself to blame for being too brave and staying on his feet when he should've took a knee.

yh thats a good win. stopped a bit to early but i think that's a great first defence. where you guys think he goes from here? there talking about nicky cook i'm not to sure about that but maybe some good domestic clashes.

nickys too polished for him imo, has the skills of burns, but better ring smarts and power.

And to think many of you picked this African bum. He couldn't box a lick.

This is exactly what you expect when you see a guy with a high KO ratio coming out of Africa that ain't beat anyone.

There is only one Prescott!

But we all considered he may have been another Prescott. Huge KO ratio, but against no name bums, he might have been dangerous.

Often these guys are not taught correctly, and are just relying on punching out bums.

I think that was evident tonight, that guy couldn't possibly knock out a live body, and he wasn't even as big of a puncher as Prescott, no way near.
