View Full Version : Very interesting cruiser weight fight
Both of the are not big and very well known names. However,at times they can hold their own against the very best of their division. They usually fight in the shadow of the better connected fighters who enjoy the backup of a powerful promoter or big money of one of the more important fight markets out there.
On the 19th of dec. Italian cruiser Vincenco Rossitto(37-6) will square off against teak tough Czech top cruiser Lubos Suda(20-2) on his home turf in Italy.
Rossitto lost one of his last fights to Jonathan Banks who will soon face Macca in England. Quite a lot of the people who watched Rossitto vs Banks had the Italian ahead on points after 12 close rounds.
Rossitto also lost a very close fight to his compatriot Fragomeni, one of the reigning cruiser weight champs.
Lubos Suda shared the same amout of luck as his Italian counterpart in some of his fights. He lost to rising shooting star Enad Licina in a fight which could have gone either way if it hadnt taken place on Licina's home turf.
Suda once defeated well known German based Firat Arslan some years ago.A couple of months ago Suda participated in a K1 fight against Gary Goodrigde in Praha. He easily outpointed the well known K1 fighter from the Caribic.
A true crossroad fight. The winner takes all! The loser will never get close to a shot at any mayor title.
Intresting scrap to be sure. Rossitto held his own against Banks in their last fight.

Yes,he did. I was quite shocked to watch Banks fall apart in the later rounds of his encounter with Rossitto. He ran out of gas and totally lost control of the fight. In the first 2-3 rounds Banks looked like a future super star beating the living shit out of the Italian. However, the tables turned quite quickly.Banks can call himself lucky that he won that fight.
Rossitto vs Suda can really go either way.Of course I will root for Suda, but I wont dare to bet any money on the outcome of this very interesting cruiser weight fight.

Odo I should have asked u about the Banks/Rossitto fight. I started a thread about it asking people about how it went down but only a few people responded and the details they gave were sparse. How did you score it? I was rather surprised that it didn't get more attention considering the fact that Banks is a rising star and it was a relatively close affair.

Good stuff. I've seen Rossito a couple of times and your assessment seems spot on. The thing about Rossito is that he's vulnerable to big punchers. Good grinding type Cruiser, though, the type you Euros are grinding out in spades these days. Entertaining fighters.
I know nothing about Suda other than what you've said here. I'll take Rossito, though, simply based off his vast and varied experience having been in the ring with world class fighters like Haye, Gurov, Banks, Wlodarcyzk, May, Fragomeni, Aurino, etc.

How did I score it?? No idea anymore, cruiser! I probably didnt even score that fight. It was a close fight which could have gone either way.Banks looked great in the first 2 rounds schooling his Italian foe and connecting with dozens of good shots.I thought that that fight would never go the full route of 12 rounds. However,Rossitto regrouped his troops and came back.Guess that Banks had spent too much of his gun powder in the first few rounds.Nevertheless,he hold the forth despite being under fire and running out of gas.Rossitoo outhusteld his foe at times, but he wasnt dominating the fight.I have no problem with the outcome of their encounter, cruiser, but to tell you the truth I had expected more so that I consequently felt a bit disappointed while watching Banks' poor performance in the later rounds.
Some very knowledgeable posters like axe still hold Banks in high regard. He may have had a bad day.

Suda isnt a big puncher though. However,he,too,is an experienced fighter who has shared the ring with some good opponents.
Rossitoo vs Suda can really go either way.Thats why it is such an interesting and fascinating cruiser weight fight.

I can't quite put my finger on it but I seem to notice that Italian fighters can be very tricky opponents to face. Piccirillo, for example, can be a very game fighter who does the little things to stick around even when he's outclassed. Cantatore gave Johnny Nelson fits after conceding the first 8 rounds in their fight 3 years ago and Rossitto obviously made Banks work for his victory. Even Silvio Branco, a guy who's faced a who's who of supermiddleweights managed to spring the occasional upset here and there.
How tall is Suda by the way? He is proving himself to be a very solid 200 lber.

Sorry, axe,I dont know his exact height! I am positive that I asked for his height when I interviewed him for esb,but.......I am getting older.........weak memory.
Sorry,mate!
He for sure isnt a big cruiser weight in terms of height.I am taller than him.I am about 185-186cm.

No doubt that Rossito is a decent fighter, but IMO Banks totally underestimated the Italian thinking that he could bomb him out of the ring within 2 rounds.Bad game plan against a durable opponent!
I am quite sure that Banks would win a rematch quite easily.
Nevertheless,Banks cant afford making the same mistake against better opponents who have a telling punch.
Someone like Alexeev would have murdered Banks that night.
