It was in honor of pound for pound great Barney Ross, who was Jewish. Toney felt since he can never lived up to Ross's pound for pound status, he might as well honor him in some way.

From what I remember, it was a tip of the hat to his then-manager, Jackie Kallen.

It was for Jackie Kallen, his manager for the early years of his career.

i just looked her name up on wiki, and it says she was born into a middle class jewish family.

so thats why toney had the star on his trunks because of her.

Yes it was because of Kallen. She took over managing him early in his career when he was very young and she was like a second mother to him. So he did it to honor her. After they split later in his career he called her a Jewish ho and said that he regretted wearing that for her.

i heard they splitted because of toney's first loss against roy jones.Something like that. Toney was bitching because apparently he knew that she knew that he would have to kill himself to make weight, but she signed the fight anyways for the money.

Yes, it was because of Jackie Kallen.

They made a boxing movie where the main character (played by Meg Ryan) is based on her. Terrible movie.

I like watching the post-fight of Toney-Nunn. Kallen was extremely happy because of Toney's improbable win.
