He has conquered everything in MMA and is nearing retirement. Before he does should he try to make millions first with a high profile boxing match?
Is the money worth it? Would you go for the money if it were you?

He wont get a high profile boxing match. Even the current version of RJJ smashes him up. Silva is a great MMA fighter. As for boxing he doesn't even qualify as a capable journeyman.

I would love to see him in an high profile boxing fight, if he thinks he can fight at top 5 fighter at his weight then he deserves to be KTFO but I do not think Silva is that stupid. Silva would be better off keeping to UFC earning good money and fighting decent fighters at what he does best.

He needs another UFC fight ASAP, to wash the bad taste out of the mouths of the people who watched his slapfight with Cote.

Nope, he is getting payed quite well in MMA, and overall losing a boxing watch lowers his earning potential going forward.

The fight purses reported to the athletic commisions are not where guys like Silva, GSP, Liddell, Couture, get paid, the majority of their income from Zuffa comes from bonuses and such.

I agree, Ill take $250,000 against a guy I have a 90% chance of beating than take a million on a circus boxing match and gets smashed. It doesnt make sense

No you wouldn't. If you were offered $260,000 to fight your neighbor or $2.5 million to fight Joe Calzaghe you would take the Calzaghe fight.
Its always about the money!
(Purists can be such hypocrites.)

not if youre going to get knocked out and ruin your image and future money potential...it isnt going to be easy to go back to ufc after getting dismantled in the boxing ring... has nothing to do with purist..I like the DLH/PAc fight

Its not about being a purist. If he fights Joe and loses he has cut his ties with the UFC, has lost a huge amount of value in terms of being a draw; he wouldn't draw at all in boxing after one fight, and he would be out of the biggest organization in MMA, and have a quite devalued name. The value of his future earning potential drops and drops significantly.

Long run, he makes much more money fighting MMA. He is getting much more than 250k, like I said earlier, the fight purses are not the only or even primary source of income from Zuffa for a star like Anderson.

this is true if he goes to boxing and gets smashed even for the 2.5 million he losses much more money that could even come from endorsements by getting his image destroyed. makes him unmarketable.

But he says that he will also retire from the UFC when his contract runs out in June. Why not then get a huge and desreved payday taking on a challenge of boxing?

His manager said that he won't retire for a while, not at the end of his contract.

Silva isn't a known commodity outside of the MMA community/fans. He wouldn't be able to carry that crossover appeal into boxing that would allow him to draw a big payday. If he could somehow manage to pull off the fight against Roy Jones - that would work - but why would anyone else want to fight him?

Would he not bring the MMA fans with him into a boxing event thereby doubling the viewership??

I don't think so. He is doing very well in MMA. He will not get a high profiled fight in Boxing unless he beats a few gatekeepers.

Not too much, MMA fans prefer watching MMA, thats why they are MMA fans. Leko and the other K1 guys who went to boxing didn't bring the K1 fans, Pulver didn't really bring many MMA fans to his boxing career, which gets overlooked, he was on ESPN afterall; those guys are not Silva in terms of drawing power, but outside of maybe one fight, the MMA fans will not follow Silva into other boxing matches.

Silva gets paid more than all but the megastars of boxing, once he loses one fight, he would be making significantly less in boxing than he is in MMA.

His earning potential is based around the fact that he is one of the greatest MMA fighters ever, to give that up is to give up millions of future dollars; long term picture he makes more doing what he does best, amazing MMA.
