Ray Mercer gets up from 4 knock-downs to Knock-out Tyson in the 10th.
Ron Lyle vs. Ken Norton
Interesting one. If Lyle can impose himself on Norton early, and tag him with one of his big shots,Ken may freeze, and get knocked out. Mind you,Lyle was a solid, but not particularly a hard puncher of the Foreman/Shavers school,so if Ron fails to get in first,I can see Ken outboxing him. Thsi is the most likely scenario, imo. Norton by decision.

I v.much like this. :thumbsup BUT - How teh fuck would Tyson knock-down Mercer, when Lennox didnnt And Lewis hits way, way harder teh Tyson??
Norton get up from Knock-down And win CLOSE decision IMO.
Norton = Grade A, Ronny-L is Grade B*.
What about teh Mythical 1988 Tyson VS 1996 Mercer??

Thats a toughie...I like Carter a little bit better.
If you chucked them in 10 different fantasy matches I think Carter matches better..Maybe they win the same but I think Carter would do better in his losing efforts...at his very absolute best I mean though.
But Jimmy had a tendency to fight a little to patiently..He would explode for a little while and then go back to being patient..whereas Brown had a very good workrate, moved around and punched a hell of a lot. More a consistent operator, with very good stamina.
I think Brown might just edge it, as Carter sometimes let fights get a bit close with his pacing and Brown was rousing finisher in the championship rounds.

Ralph Dupas vs Miguel CottoGreat post! This is how it should be done. some of the posts lately are results with little or no rationale behind it. It doesn't have to be a long explaination. but a brief reasoning for your result. would be well recieved.
Sorry dont know much about Dupas to handle this one...

i will take a stab at this one if that's ok.
i will take dupas to win by decision he was quick on his feet had a very good defence and his hands were on the quick side this along with good ring intelligence would give cotto problems scoring , cotto would not be in danger of being stopped it may just simply be that dupas skill and style would be a bad one for cotto

What if it was in 1989 instead??
218lb Tyson [who won VS Bruno] VS 208lb Holyfield [won VS Dokes],, here Holyfield is less green And has 6lbs extra Muscle-Mass. So IMO Holyfield wins by TKO10. :!:

taylor has the speed and better boxing ability in this match-up coupled with fact that randall would not have the power to score a ko or the style to grind taylor down , and that for me gives taylor enough to take a clear ud

Stracey boxes well inside and out to take a close UD over Jones who I think is definitely underrated around here. I think Stracey's subtle defense and underrated body punching nip it for him.

I think Foster overpowers Toney for most of the fight and wins a SD.

Minter outjabs Kalambay?
yeah i know minter did not have the worlds best jab but for me he was a durable fighter that was a determined type with a decent level of power. minters jab was a decent jab none more than that admittedly .i think half of kalambays defeats came at the hands of lefty's (no matter your thoughts about the kayule fight it is down as a loss,i myself have not seen it so cant really comment) and yes i am aware that kalambay did have his wins at world level over the likes of graham and sims, but for me the southpaw stance may help minter in this fight

Know what..? I think Johnson might just be able to do the same thing that Ebihara did, and blast Kingpetch out early. Good style match-up for Johnson, who in terms of speed and power was just about the equal of his fellow southpaw. Something tells me he doesn't give Kingpetch the time to get un-tracked and scores a first or second round stoppage.

Arguello vs Pacquiao
At Jr. Lightweight,I'd pick Arguello by late rounds, come from behind stoppage.
The Explosive Thin Man had a knack for taking apart talented, hard-hitting southpaws (e.g. Navarette, and Ganigan). Pac does well early, builds up a lead and might even drop Alexis, but at some point I think Arguello's withering body attack takes it toll and opens Pac up for the finish.
Speaking of junior lightweights...Two Japanese champions of some note...
