boxing by far because of the corrupt alphabet belts, no legitmate champions, not on regular TV. According to them, its started to decline after Ali left. Also, the greatest athletes don't boxing anymore because they can make the same amount of money doing something safer.

Discuss?

UFC more popular than boxing but the most they've ever done is like 250K.

the UFc is not as popular as boxing, mma and Vale Tudo is only popular in Brazil, UK, USA, Japan and a few countries in Europe, boxing is massive in every country, maybe MMA can become as popular in the next 20years

UFC more popular than boxing but the most they've ever done is like 250K.

UFC 66's main event was a championship fight with two of the UFC's biggest light heavyweight stars, Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) defending his title against former champion Tito Ortiz ([Only registered and activated users can see links]). This was first announced by Ortiz at the UFC 63 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) weigh-ins on September 22 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), 2006 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]). [3] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]_note-card-announcement-2).
The co-main event saw Forrest Griffin ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) take on 'The Dean Of Mean' Keith Jardine ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) and also saw the return of Andrei Arlovski ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) and the debut of Michael Bisping ([Only registered and activated users can see links]). During the event, it was made official that Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) had signed a contract with the UFC, and would make his debut with the organization at UFC 67 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]).
The event was the UFC's first show at MGM Grand Arena ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) since UFC 56 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), and was nearly sold-out, producing the highest live gate revenue in North American mixed martial arts history, [1] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]_note-pressnotes-0) extending the previous record at UFC 57 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) by over $2,000,000 (USD ([Only registered and activated users can see links])), and is estimated to be currently the UFC's biggest pay-per-view success to date with just over 1 million buys. UFC regularly does over 250k ppv buys.. if thats what youre referring to.

Theyve topped a million before.

Numbers don't lie.
MMA is doing good, but would I care?

I watch both, I like watching both, and the constant "battle" between MMA and Boxing is ridiculous.

How much to the top MMA fighters get paid compared to the top boxers?*

*Rhetorical question.

I believe Rashad Evans vs Chuck Liddell sold more than Hopkins vs Pavlik and Calzaghe vs Jones put together.

MMA gets more buys because it prices it's PPV's lower and pays its fighters less than boxing on every level (and on the lower ones, that ain't an easy accomplishment). Once the MMA fighters' collective lightbulbs pop up over their heads and they realize that they're being underpaid given the recognition the promotions get, you'll see fewer and fewer stacked cards.

Re-cycling the same shit they've been saying for years. UFC does well, they hit their zenith with Liddell vs Ortiz in December 2006, things have cooled off since then, most other MMA groups are struggling, EliteXC went out of business about a month ago and Affliction had a massive budget and got about 30,000 ppv buys, they had to postpone their second (or third, can't remember) ppv by about 6 months.

UFC is like Mcdonalds, it's a big known brand name. Most people aren't interested in the second string groups, they get their fix from the UFC. Saying the whole sport is booming just because UFC is is like saying the whole food service business is doing well because Mcdonalds had a record year.
