I still don't see how they can justify putting Brock in there with Randy. Even of Brock wins he didn't deserve the shot. Gabriel Gonzaga vs Brock Lesnar would have been a interesting fight and would have added more credibilty either way. There was no need to rush this fight and give it the bs label of biggest fight in MMA history.

i think dana thinks lesnar is going to get a big win over randy and wants to get lesnar that name on his win list before randy retires or is just to old for it to matter.

Who else in the UFC is there for Couture to fight though?

Because Gonzaga would destroy Lesnar. Even if Lesnar wins tonight it matters not as his tenure as champ will be short.

Quoted for truth. 1-1 --> title shot? Come on. If you look at how many guys someone like Alves or Cote had to fight before getting a shot, this is pretty clearly a money grab. If they'd had their head out of their asses then Mir/Nog would have happened months ago and Couture would be fighting one of them right now.

I also agree that this being "the biggest fight ever" is crap. If one guys wins it's because the size difference is huge and if the other wins it's because one guy has three fights and the other 24. Not that interesting IMO. I was way more amped for the Sherk/Penn fight than this one.

the "biggest fight in history" line is funny as hell. BJ vs GSP II is 10 times the fight.

It is clearly about the money. If Randy gets beat then so what. I'd still rather see him fight Fedor. Dana could have made that fight happen, it would have made alot more money and alot more sense. No offense to Brock but a WWE dropout and a solid amateur pedigree does not merit a title shot. He should have at least avenged his loss to Mir before being considered for anything.

Gonzaga is badass as long as he doesnt fall apart mentally I think he rapes Brock if they fight Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu especially clinic.

Lesner will never make champ because he couldn't beat Nogueira. Nogueira loves the ground game.

Better question...why not Nogueira vs Couture ? Exactly. This is the bout that should be happening. But hey Dana`s got to cash his chips in and his UFC fan boys lap it up. I wonder what Nogs thoughts are on this..

Not everyone is laping it up. Im not that exicted I dont see what Brock has done to deserve a title shot with 2 wins I mean beat Herring ok then give like 15 other guys who beat Herring a title shot then and make it a fucking gatlaunt since Danas into the WWE guys. I dont see how its the biggest fight in history Randy isnt even the best Heavyweight and Brock has accomplished next to nothing. I wont even see the fights tonight unless I can find some peeps to chip in but my freinds dont have jobs.

Because Nogueria was already signed to fight Mir, and had already been training.

So instead of forcing Nog into a different fight than he thought and screwing over Mir after he had signed to fight for the interim title, they let that fight happen as was the original plan.

Once Randy came out of retirement, they needed to give him an opponent other than Nog or Mir, as they were both fighting, I thought Werdum was the most deserving, but I think his fight with Dos Santos was already signed and being prepared for; as it turns out Werdum didn't just lose to Dos Santos, thats not such a horrible thing, but he showed up out of shape, disinterested, and fought a stupid fight, its a good thing he didn't get the fight.

So the UFC needs someone to fight Randy, they bring in Brock because it is convient, will sell better than any other fight would have, and will might even set a record for PPV buys for the UFC. On top of being a huge draw, Lesnar did just beat Herring, who would probably have been the guy who got the shot if he beat Lesnar, and Lesnar just shows so much potential with his size and athleticism.

So basically the Nog vs Mir fight stayed the same, with the added bonus of the winner getting a chance at the non-interim title, and Brock was the most convient choice to fight Randy, and the belts will then be unified with the next round of HW fights.

As it turned out, the guy who I thought was most deserving went out and proved me wrong, Werdum should be pretty embarassed about how he handled himself, adding alot of fat weight, not fighting smart, and just generally not looking like a champion.

So has Brock earned the title shot, absolutely 100% no, but he was probably the best choice given the circumstance of there being 2 champions that need to be unified.

Being the best option certainly does not make it any better IMHO. Let's not forget that if Dana was willing to cross promote that we could have had the actual biggest fight in HW history with Couture vs Fedor.
