Mosley -120

Cotto -120

Even money for this not-yet-signed fight.

John Chavez of the site that speaks confidentially about boxing is reporting these odds.
He seems to think Cotto should be at least 2 or 3-1 favorite.

I see this as an even money fight, based on the predictions I've read from our members here at ESB and my own personal opinion.

What do you guys think?

Interesting. :think

You'd have to be either completely new to the sport and just going by boxrec, or from an unincorporated US Commonwealth in the North Atlantic to see Cotto as a heavy favorite.

Interesting, I would give Cotto the slight edge because of age but Mosley will be able to hurt Cotto. This is as close to even on paper as you can get.

personally i lean towards cotto due to age. i think he is past his best.........after all, would a prime mosley struggle so much with a guy like collazo.

or with guys like estrada. or that cruz guy??? i dont think so.

that is why i think cotto will pound out a UD.

Its hard to squeeze a glass out (at least 8oz) not only must you mingle with the lion cubs to steel a free nipple but the lioness must be lactating, quite the task.

Mosley had very little trouble with Collazo, Estrada and Cruz.

He was being beaten to the punch by Collazzo before the thumb injury. Other than those few rounds however, Mosley still looks like he's got 90% of the talent that he's had throughout the years.

Mosely has been taking too much time thinking about signing up for this fight. If he does, then great for us fans. If he doesn't, I wouldn't blame him. He wants to fight Mayweather, and if he fights Cotto first he knows he'll have to retire afterwards. Too much will and assiduous assault for Mosely to hold. Collazo is no Cotto... Vargas is just a never was... Mosely's age WILL be really tested for the first time against Cotto.

:huhall three were very competative with him.......something they would not have been with a prime mosley.

Mosely should fight them and see how he fares against them... I bet he can't knock'em out... Why doesn't he sign the contract? What is he waiting for? And please don't come with the "business" crap excuse everyone tends to use before signing a contract for a fight...

Makes sense.

They are likely evenly matched.

I think Mosley's style might be a bit of trouble for Cotto...he has faster hands, and moves in-out a lot...

Then again, Mosley's getting old...

I wish we knew whats holding the deal up.
Last I heard they agreed in principle and were just ironing out the site details, etc.
At least we know both Cotto and Mosley fight anyone, anywhere, anytime as they've proven it time and again.

Honestly, I don't think Mosley would KO Quintana, but he would stop Judah in my estimation.

Mosley usually outpoints people with speed and great counterpunches, Cotto beats you down meticulously.

Both styles are a thing of beauty.
Can't wait for this great matchup, my tickets are purchased in theory, as long as it's a northeast fight. Madison Square Garden!

Mosley is coming down to his more natural fighting weight, while Cotto has shown that he can be seriously hurt by punchers not as fast or accurate as Mosley, i.e. Torres, Corley, and Judah buzzed Cotto a couple of times so Cotto hit him in the balls to recooperate(something he learned from Tito)

I think Mosley's handspeed and power will be the deciding factors. Cotto is a good fighter, maybe even great, but Mosley is way better than Judah, and Judah had Cotto in trouble a few times. Mosley doesn't have lapses in the ring like Judah does, or fade down the stretch. Mosley has the edge in experience as well. Some see it as old age, but I see it as experience in big fights, and this will be Cotto's biggest fight to date for sure. He has never fought anyone in the same league as Mosley, or maybe even a league below Mosley.

See, that's the thing... I'm used to see Mosely fight anyone, anywhere, anywhen. I don't know why he says he has to talk to his wife. That's "Oscar Talk"... I think the "GBP Syndrome" is infecting Mosely. Regardless, if they fight, they will give us the Fight of the Year, unlike DLH VS MW.

Another thing, what are PW's and KC's promoters waiting to match them up. The winner takes on the Cotto VS Mosely winner. I'd rather see any of these four get it on than any of them against MW.

By MW I think you mean Mayweather......and if thats the case, I agree.

I also agree that Jin has maybe a bit too loud of a voice in Shane's ear, but they are a team and they will run the show the way they want to .

When you fight guys like Winky, Vernon and Collazo when everyone knows how dangerous they are and are unwilling to fight them, you've got a tough guy on your hands that will fight anyone.

Mosley and Cotto are 2 of my favorite 5 current fighters so I am salivating at the thought of this fight being finalized and the sound of the first bell!

Style wise, this is very dangerous for Cotto.Miguel isn't that hard to find, and he has been hurt, cut, and down courtesy of lesser fighters than Shane. At this weight Mosely has the edge in speed and possibly even power.A long fight would favor Cotto, but Shanes left hook could determine the outcome before that.

Mosley in a real close one only because of the edge in experience and the quality of opponents were a little better than Cotto's. Mosleys been in with some great fighters and won. This fight will be a war!

We all know which Cotto will show up at 147 and we all have questions about him versus Mosley, but the man I have the most questions about in this fight is Mosley, the fighter I have seen fight since before I knew the name Cotto.

147 was a great weight for Mosley, but is it still his best weight (especially after being so heavy), have the years knocked enough off of his speed to matter, he held his own with Wright a big man, but hardly an offensive/KO minded one. He does have power and can take shots (only time I remember him being in real trouble was versus Forrest and that was shocking). The other big question is why it taking him so long to sign? He used to be the one calling people out, now he is the hold up, is this desire thing or simply a terms thing. He has been more about time off than searching out opponents recently, but clearly see himself as a viable fighter, but don't they all.

[quote]

You're off-base on your first point. Mosley has 37 kos from 44 starts which is a 75% ratio. His points wins has only been in recent times against people that had never been ko'd, were bigger men and he won UDs.

He's fast and incredibly strong. he's certainly got as much pop as Cotto and is clearly more skilled. Cotto's not a swarmer, so I see Mosley being able to use his speed and power to baffle Cotto ala Zab. the difference is is that Shane keeps his compusure under-pressure.

Shane wide points win

Shane is physically more gifted than Cotto, in a contest of skills I say Cotto is technically more accurate or about even in the subject of "proper deliverey" many people equate Mosely's speed and combinations with skill when technically Cotto is just as good skill wise if not better.

Great fight for mosley, bad fight for cotto, that's all i gotta say and after the fight we will all be waiting for the winner of hatton/mayweather,i want floyd to win, because i wanna see floyd vs mosley early next year. But i was watching de la hoya vs mayweather over and over, and i noticed, when de la hoya came forward he alway's backed floyd against the ropes, but when he slowed down floyd picked him apart.

That's why i favor hatton, because hatton will be in floyd's face all night and force him to use his leg's alot and release his hand's alot more,i think hatton will win a close sd based on his high work and punch rate.De la hoya's problem was he waited too long to get back into floyd's face and that allowed floyd to get in his groove, but hatton wont let floyd breathe, floyd might even cut hatton with a punch, but that wont stop hatton from being in his face all night.

115-113 floyd,116-112 hatton,115-113 hatton and new wbc welterweight champion of the world.

I have never seen a Cotto fight that bored me. With todays mentality, you would think Cotto would be ducking fighters like Malinaggi, Quintana, Judah, and Mosley...who seem like they should give Cotto's style a lot of trouble..but Cotto and his management pursue these tough fights and it's nice to see.

Cotto stops Mosley late, Mosley however does beat up Cotto in the early rounds but Cotto's relentless body work affects the not so young Mosley late.

If and when he wins, I don't want to hear any crap of Mosley being old.

I also want to hear nothing about his level of competition anymore, taking this fight proves neither of these men duck anybody.
