View Full Version : Had Monte been drinking ?

He sprinted to the ring, tried to jump over the ropes and fell on his arse and throughout the fight looked as if his mind was elsewhere and he needed to go to sleep.

Looked as if he had been drinking to me. I know he is not always motivated for fights but that was not even half the Monte we saw give Messi a good beating.

Fuck it, I'd be after a bit a of Dutch courage if I was going in with Haye.

The running to the ring bit, much like Enzo, was trying to build up a bit of courage I think. Falling on his arse probably helped build up his anger too.

He didn't look any odder during the fight though, and I've seen Monte fight about 6 times now (Wlad, Mesi, Guinn, Rahman, Fields and Haye). He was throwing pretty fiercely when he had the chance, but mainly Haye shucking and jiving all over the place all the time made it difficult. Monte clearly was looking for the overhand right but didn't have much chance to use it.

Seen footage of him trying a backflip after a victory and he also went on his ass. Stick to boxing and leave the gymnastics to russian teenagers Monte!!!!

I always used to worry Eubank would come a cropper when he did that, and I seem to recall Hamad falling once...

surely - is it against boxing rules to come into the ring under the influence of booze.

Monte sprinted to the ring - he must of been shitting himself

He went down easy.

if he came to lose, he would have stayed down after the 2nd or at least 3 rd knock down.

...and he wouldn't have tried to take Haye's head off...

He definitely didnt come to lose, think we have to give him credit, showed heart getting up multiple times, think he did lack confidence though

I was wondering why Haye took so long to start his entrance. Could it have been because he and his team were laughing at Monte's attempt to enter the ring?

It's as if Monte - with his ring antics and multiple knockdowns - was the British fighter and not David Haye. I mean, we're used to the antics of Audley and Danny, so to see a home fighter running the show is a bit of a turn up for the books. But was Haye (odd anticipated knockdown aside) not expected to win this one?

He got drunk off Hayes punches.
