Does buncey have a regular spot on radio 5? If so does anyone know when it is on?

Bunce
11-19-2008, 11:25 AM
It's on each month and has been since Sept 2004 - guests have included Lennox, the Franks Bruno, ****** and Maloney, Klitschko bros, Hopkins, De La Hoya, Mayweathers x 3, Ricky, Joe, David, Mick Hennessy, Paul Ingle, Froch, Marvin, Amir, Roach, Audley, Jones, Hearns, DeGale, Gavin and about two dozen other top names.
Funnily enough it is on tomorrow night (20th) with a cast of thousands with me in London and Mick Costello and Richie in Las Vegas.
So it's BBC Five Live between 8-9pm tomorrow night.
Adios.

Straightforward question followed by accurate factual answer from the horses mouth?

This thread tramples on so many proud ESB posting traditions it's not real.

Mick Hennessy would be a great studio guest.

Basically pick the top three fighters in Britain and accuse them of ducking someone under his stable.

Big Mick needs a marketing man/woman under his employment, and quick.

I agree, he seriously needs to do something big with Junior Witter!

Witter isn't particularly marketable - his style is painfully boring at times.

He doesn't come across as a nice fella, too much in love with himself. Around this time last year he appeared on Calendar with Christa Ackroyd and Harry Gration (people with great boxing knowledge ) and he started bleating on about knocking out 15 guys in a row and how the world is against him and that he would beat Hatton - and that Cotto should be man enough to give him more than two week's notice etc etc etc.

My grandad basically grabbed the remote and said.....

'I am not listening to this plonker anymore. Someone will knock him out and shut him up'

I don't think he's a bad guy and doesn't behave like Hamed used to do. His style is a problem but I think for a top fighter his promoter keeps on getting him poor fights and that affects his performance. I heard he's going to be fighting for the European title next...why? He should demand the big names and tell Mick to sort it out! Hatton's in Vegas and Witter's at York Hall...something's wrong there.

Nothing wrong with that as far as I can see. Witter got smashed by an average fighter whereas Ricky lost to the widely recognised PFP no1.

They are different class mate which is why Ricky never wanted the gob shite to get the pay day he tried to mouth his way into.

If he doesn't go for it it'll be clear that he's ducking John Sergeant.

Is that kind of like the chuckle brothers of British HW boxing Buncey?:?

Bunce should ask Mick Hennassy where he finds those trolls he pretends are card girls. Mick H has the monopoly on ugly card girls. How are we going to get kids interested in boxing when those monsters come on with the cards between rounds.

There's a five live boxing show tonight I think (or at least a small boxing piece) - not sure if Bunce is on it though.

Tonight at 8 for one hour on BBC Five Live...Woodhall, Bunce, Costello, DiBella, Mayweather Sr, Hatton, Malignaggi and Gary Stretch.

Also, don't forget the podcast of Buncey's Hour on itunes. It's there for zip right now.

Adios.

Go to the BBC homepage and click on Five live - "listen now".

They are confident about Hatton - sounds like they think he is a "fighter reborn" with Mayweather training him.

Mind you, no one ever says their training camp has gone anything apart from brilliant before a fight!

Lou Dibella fucking loves Joe. :yep

Pound4pound number one
Would have beaten prime Roy
Better than Hamed/Lewis "no question"
Best British boxer post war.

He says Calzaghe beats a prime Roy Jones easily. I'm sure he said that Calzaghe is the greatest fighter from middle weight up since the war - surely not (perhaps I misheard). If he did say that though, what an ignoramus.

Calzaghe isn't even the current P4P no 2, he's no 3 - let alone no1.

What the hell is this Calzaghe loving on Bunceys show!!! :fire

Some yank claiming Calzaghe is some sort of god - WHAT THE HELL!! :fire

If you thought the some of Calzaghe nut hugging on ESB was bad - listen to this crap!

Really liked the section about Amir Khan in LA though ( I'm not an Amir Khan fan at all, but sounds like he is doing well in training) - could leave some of us with egg on our faces if he can mix it with Pacman.

Although I guess at the end of the day, a glass jaw is a glass jaw.

What was Buncey gong on about, Joe fighting Clinton Woods...?! That is a completely daft fight to take, he'd get nothing but aggro, and HBO are hardly gonna be throwing money at JC for fighting a guy who got outclassed, by the guy who got outclassed by the guy they want him to fight... When he was IBF champ it made sense but cmon, that fight is dead in the water now.

He did say Glen Johnson was a good fight to take which I agree, I think Johnson is a solid world class campaigner who made Dawson look terrible, so when Joe puts on a masterclass of boxing the win would look even better. Also they have history.

Dawson is still the most competent challenger out there though and i was surprised DiBella didnt fancy the idea...then he went on to say he promotes both Glen Johnson and Jermain Taylor...:(

Disappointing though, this is supposed to be the BBC and a bit of objectivity would be appreciated.

Calzaghe is my fav fighter, but DiBella was on lick arse offensive, saying Calzaghe is the greatedst British fighter of all time and would of beaten Roy jones in his prime, obviously hoping Joe is listening, clearly hinting that Johnson would travel no problems and wouldnt be expensive!
