Just sat down and scored this one, and it might not be the popular opinion but I can honestly see the fight being scored a draw.

Hamed no doubt swept the first four rounds on my card... But as the fight went on he seemingly slowed down, connected less, moved more.

I guess you could say it was more what Hamed didn't then what McCullough did. Hamed simply cruised for a large portion of the fight while McCullough applied constant pressure, landed bodyshots here and there...

Hamed only showed up in the States four days before the fight, jet lag was mentioned. Not to mention Hamed was doing stupid shit like refusing to sit in his corner between rounds.

I can see the fight being scored for either fighter, but not by a margin more then a few points.

Thoughts?

Hamed ran like a thief in that fight.

Watched that fight twice only...scored it the second time....From memory I think I had it 8-4 for Hamed...but a pretty hard earned 8-4.

Naseem became less effective as the fight wore on..no way Wayne only won two rounds which one judge seem to think.

Russell didnt you start a thread about Lennox losing to Mercer?

Had it a clear 8-4 to Hamed, 1 of his scappier fights.

This was when things were about to end with Brendon Ingle as his trainer.

Ingle was at the McCullough fight, but only as an 'adviser' and Hamed basically ignored his advice anyway. If he'd have listened, Naseem would've had an easier fight but he wanted to do it his way and his way alone. Hamed ditched Ingle soon afterwards.

Hamed's trainers afterwards, even Manny Steward, just weren't the right type for Hamed and his lack of focus or even professional care led to the slide that culminated against Barrera.

I guess I really factor aggressiveness into scoring. I feel Mercer beat Lennox via constantly backing him up and consistently out jabbing him. I couldn't not credit Mercer for being more effective in the exchanges, stunning Lennox several times where as Mercer ate everything Lennox threw at him without a problem.

The same applies to Hamed/McCullough. The pressure was coming from Wayne all night and I just felt he did more in the rounds where neither did too terribly much.

Yes but its not just pressure that counts but EFFECTIVE Pressure, those punches have to land clean. For instance Mayweather spends allot of time on the ropes or backing up but isn't getting hit so the pressure isnt effective. I always go for who landed more clean effective shots and factor in the power but I suppose everyone has their preferances

Well, speaking of Mayweather I had Castillo beating him close but clear.

Mayweather's constant movement with no activity coupled with Castillo's constant aggression and decent bodywork while chasing Mayweather around nabbed it for him.

McCullough v Morales was a lot closer than the scorecards suggested.

I had Naseem winning by a couple of points but a very hard fight for him either way..

BTW, i am a massive Lennox fan and i swear Mercer beat him.. I think even by the look on Lewis's face at the announcement of his victory , he thought he had been outhustled too..........
