Im the same height but maybe one or two pounds smaller when I weigh in. If I was you I would work on speed and cardio. Im fast and I use that and my height to keep my distance (Im a jab/straight thrower and hate the inside or close fighting). Being out of reach and continueing to step to the side makes their hits fall short 70% of the time and Ill go like that all day. So I would say work on the cardio and and speed. It has been working for me and Im 4 and 1 now in Amateurs...

You should improve where possible instead of working around it.

As for getting it on the ropes. A new trick Ive started doing a few months ago is when Im cornered in the ring, throw a straight right and at the impact kinda sweep it to the right of their face. Then kinda pull them to your right with your right arm and step outta the corner with you left foot. I've just started doing it and its been working really well. That and the other guys hate it.

Sometimes cardio isn't the problem, it's being too stiff. If all your muscles are tense, you burn a lot of energy. The fact that you're not good at slipping and ducking and have average footwork kind of underlines that suspicion. Try being more fluid and relaxed, it'll do miracles for your ring stamina. Also, don't load up on every punch, that'll get you gassed in no time as well, especially if your opponent makes you miss a few.

Work on it in training. Don't load up on every shot and try to keep your body, especially the arms and torso relaxed. Practice slipping, see if it becomes more easy if you try to relax a little.

Or perhaps it's your level of opposition that makes you tense, I gas out pretty quick as well if I'm outclassed :D

Perhaps you should do more defensive drills then, not getting hit is rather important.
