I will wait until after the fight if it is all the same but if Calzaghe wins or is competitive in loosing I will not be ungenerous in terms of his ranking among the pantheon of great British fighters.

Lacy had more success than Kessler will, if Kessler even lasts 7 rounds...

This is the classic section.
The ultimate standing of both Lacy and Kessler is yet to be determined.
For example Lacy might never do anything meaningfull again after his thrashig at Calzaghes hands or he might go on to dominate the division after Calzaghe retires. Same for Kessler.
To give a historical example Joe Louis's wins over Jersey Joe Walcott were seen as trivial at the time but Walcott went on to win the title and have an epic war with Marciano.

For shame.
Seriously though. This is the kind of list where you are going to make omisions like that because it is an ugly exercise in latteral thinking.

I Know I was pretty embarrased, but I was so fixed on not leaving out any old time fighters I skipped over him.
For top 5 I had Gans, Brown, Frazier, Jeanette, but then for some reason got fixed on Calzaghe for number 5 when I should have slotted in Louis at 1 or 2.

Another name that we could consider if we include bare knuckle is Joe Goss.
