AMIR KHAN V SCOTT LAWTON IS ON..
What do y'all think of this matchup..
Its not major news in the USA but in Britain its apoignant step for Khans future as a top prospect..
Willie Limond showed a few flaws a month ago.. Scott may fancy his chances in this one..

Lawton is not as good as Limond in my opinion, but it's yet another light domestic hitter.
The problem with most British boxers is that instead of having them fight proper international level "step up" opponents, they just circulate them with poor Brit level "step up" opponents.
If Khan were a truly serious guy, he'd at least be taking on a British level champion in Thaxton very soon, or a guy like Murray and Earl. Lawton is yet another light hitting British level journeyman who will pose little issue's and can't punch a lick.

Lawton's a decent fighter but I don't feel he's quite as good as Limond and probably not quite as quick either .
He may still cause Khan problems but Khan should win this inside the distance .
I'll have to give Khan a pass for fighting Lawton if he fights again in December , Lawton isn't exactly total garbage and Khan was nearly stopped in his last fight so it's resonable to take a small step back before taking a big step forward(that's provided it's Earl or Thaxton in December)
where has this been announced?
scott lawton is not really a top domestic fighter but he'll still be the second best opponent khan has ever faced. khan will have to blow him away much quicker than thaxton did if he wants to make any kind of statement...
although according to boxrec lawton is fighting dean hickman for the english title at the end of september

20 wins and 4 KO's, sounds dangerous! It is funny, it is so obvious that ****** is avoiding any fighter with even the slightest amount of punching power.

A 20% knockout percentage? Well, Limond had a lower percentage, and he nearly had Khan KO'd. Lawton has a puncher's chance!

Well, if boxrec is anything to go by, Lawton's hopeless. He's got a draw with a 1-8-0 boxer, a loss to a 15-19-0 boxer, and his two best opponents stopped him.
I suspect Khan will get a gift stoppage before the sixth, and the commentators will rave as if he just beat Thaxton.
"He beat someone Thaxton beat, but faster! That makes him better than Thaxton!"
PATHETIC.

Limond actually had a 28% knockout percentage..............and didn't it show

28%... He's still a big way off being anything close to a puncher. 28% is still akin to someone like Sven Ottke.
The problem is, Limond showed that ANYONE with the skill to land clean has a shot against Khan. If Lawton lands his best bombs and follows up... :scaredas:

Lawton is a domestic player so it is a respectable fight.
An easy fight (put in context) isn't the end of the world. He has to then fight Thaxton in January.
Ultimately this fight does nothing for his progress. That is what it is designed to do. Delay ****** having to unleash him on the world stage any time soon.

no really excited by this fight at all i dont think ****** thinks he is ready for the step up so i expected this type of fight anyway. I think if he won convincingly then he would be fighting someone better.

If he has the chance to fight Khan he'll put the Hickman fight on hold. He'll earn FAR morefrom a Khan fight with the added bonus of possibily making a name for himself. It's a no brainer
i still haven't heard this from any source. not on FWs site, not on any other boxing news site....where did you hear this?
i hope this is not one of those occasions when someone drops a random name without any confirmation and then a load of people drop posts criticising the choice of opponent.

Yeah it is not confirmed on the website but Scott Lawton is most likely next opponent.

Khan has got to start fighting serious hitters if he wants the respect of the public. His CV is littered with "protection" all over it.
Thaxton or a rematch with Limond would have been a fairer test and better attraction
.He was found out against limond and it showed.
