Ferreri would be heads above Shingaki but Callejas at 55Kg would be a test as Ferreri was best at 53.5Kg.
Payakarun in his early days may of been too quick and Samart never fought at Bantam.
Ferreri vs Pintor would be interesting.Ferreri gave Zarate a good many rounds but Zarate was too big and Ferreri's lack of pop did him no favors.

When PAUL FERRERI was with the master trainer CHARLIE GERGAN back in the 80's they wanted FENECH so bad PAUL would have kick JEFFS ass but BILL MORDEY would'nt let it happen MORDEY later kick himself after what FENECH,TSZYU and JOHNNY LEWIS did to him and said to GERGAN later he should have gave PAUL the shot.CHARLIE reckon's LEWIS is a bum and should have took JEFF HARDING of him like LEWIS did with SOLOMON to CHARLIE,HARDING was always begging GERGAN to train him but he would'nt do that cause you don't steal fighter's from other trainer's

The Victor Callejas who Jeff Fenech fought in Sydney in 1988 was as accomplished as he was ruthless (elbows, head clashes etc - ala Duran). Fenech is said to have gone into the bout with a broken hand, and of course was never renowned as an angel himself. Callejas certainly gave Jeff a war as his KO laden record suggested he might.
Callejas could bang and he could box. But if you dissect his record of 26 wins (22 by KO) and 3 losses, as impressive as the numbers are, it is thin. The first 7 guys he fought had 4 bouts of experience between them. Italian Loris Stecca, whom he won the WBA super bantam weight title from in his 22nd fight, was his probably his first genuinely highly credentialed opponent (Bernardo Checa whom he fought immediately before was certainly no bum).
Ferreri, a southpaw, was not a big banger, but with his cross-arm defence was a very hard man to tag - as his 78 wins (26 by KO), 13 losses (2 by KO) and 5 draws suggests. He shared the ring with many former and later world champions and was Commonwealth & Australian champ longer than anyone could remember.
Ferreri was stopped on cuts, but by no means disgraced, by the great Carlos Zarate - and nobody went the distance with Zarate! That occured halfway through his 18 year career. His other stoppage was in his very last fight in 1986, when approaching 40 years of age!
Was an at peak Ferreri good enough to beat an at peak Callejas? Who knows? Perhaps not? But Callejas would sure as heck have struggled to stop Ferreri inside the distance.
