Describe The Rounds will be a returning topic series in which two historical fighters will be put together in a fantasy match. However -- what we're looking for here is not the result of the match -- you are only permitted to describe the
2nd round
6th round
10th round
...of the bout. If a knockdown occurs within one of these rounds, so be it, if a knockout or TKO occurs, so be it, but you are otherwise expected to withhold results.
The upcoming Oscar de la Hoya vs Manny Pac match is a contest of which the outcome seems obvious -- but it's a very difficult fight to picture, and I drew the comparison to how we approach fantasy matches, often quickly deciding upon a most likely result based on legacy and accomplishments without really thinking the assets and flaws of each fighter through. How will it look? How will each fight, and how effective will they be?
I will consciously pick matches which are difficult to picture and imagine. They might not always be competitive -- as the result is not what we're focussing on -- but the way the fight will be fought.
Well, that was entirely too long. Without further ado, the first three matches;
----------------------
Vitaly Klitscko vs George Foreman at Heavyweight.
Alexis Arguello vs Erik Morales at 130 pounds.
Wilfredo Benitez vs Shane Mosley at 147 pounds.
I will make my own contributions tomorrow! :good
