Karelin comes to mind.

Rhadi Ferguson probably could have done well, he was competitive in ADCC with a Judo/Wrestling background and not much ground training beyond Judo Ne-waza.

Leo Vieria and alot of the other great BJJ guys who never fought MMA.

In terms of historical figures, there are a ton.

he only faught in the early days when no one knew bjj and he never faught any names aside from masikatsu funkai and yuki nakai. even they took him a while to beat. i would have like to see a prime rickson fighting in todays mma see if the legend is really true.

I was going to make a clever sort of quip and say Butterbean, thus feigning ignorance. However I will spare all of you that indignity and go with my default setting of Aleksandr Karelin.

Gene LeBell just came to mind, as well.

oh yeah Gene LeBell is a GREAT choice! he did a mixed fight with a middleweight boxer if im not mistaken. :bbb

Ray Lewis, linebacker for the Ravens would be another good choice. I heard he was a one or two time state champ in wrestling in Florida and his pure athleticism and aggression would win him alot of fights

Yes Gene leBell would of been great.

I read his book, and that guys grappling and underrated stand up would be to much for anyone in middleweight division [Silvia included!]
